>the botw map is reused and not changed much

>the underground looks the same is even emptier than botw's map

>only 4 new dungeons and they're short
>the story is still flashbacks
And it has sold over 130 units in just 2 weeks. Maybe you should stop coping now.
>someone presents criticism to the game
>tendies: y-yeah but the heckin sales
everytime
>someone presents criticism to the game
>someone
>actually a shitposter that didn't even play the game
everytime
>actually a shitposter that didn't even play the game
Don't you get tired of this deflection?
>not even trying to refute my statement
You have proven my point. shoo shoo now lousy shitposter.
Ok so you don't get tired of it.
only a 130 units?
130m
>DOZENS OF US
>over 130 units
HOLY FUCK
>130 units
Good bait. Retards will eat it up. kek
fortnite chads stay winning
And? Everyone lines up for Marvel movies too, and it doesn't mean they're masterpieces of cinema
>130 units
well thats not untrue
>over 130 units in just 2 weeks
wow, the means were accurate all along lmao
you and the other 129 morons will never be a woman
>And it has sold over 130 units in just 2 weeks.
Nintendos would buy a bucket full of cum if they could. As long as it has the Nintendo stamp on it.
So, for someone that never played BoTW, it would be better to skip it and play ToTK?
>it would be better to skip it and play ToTK?
Yeah. Just watch botw's cutscenes on youtube or read a summary.
Yes, you wont miss shit. You can just watch the BotW story on youtube.
Tears of the Kingdom is what BotW should have been at launch 6 years ago.
But even then there's still lot of shit wrong:
>the story is just shit and complete mess
>weapon and shield durability still exists
>BOTH master sword and hylian shield can break
>story is purely in flashbacks and memories you have to go out of your way to collect
>still not great enemy variety
>still no fucking darknuts
>one boss (frox) is just a talus mixed with a hinox
>only 4 dungeons
>said dungeons are a pure joke and easily exploited
>retarded shrines are still a thing, with them all looking and being the same and piss easy
>still no actual proper item progression like in past games, TP, SS, OoT, WW, etc.
>depths as a whole is boring shit where you fight all the same shit as on the surface only difference being they do "gloom" damage
>only actual thing worth doing there is finding and getting some uncorrupted weapons, and new armor sets and getting zonaite and then fucking out of there because it is useless for everything else
>mad that he didn't get enough (you)s in his OP, he tries again
Lol
Forgot the part where the Dialogue/Cutscenes at the end of EACH temple in the Zen Garden is the EXACT SAME just model swapped and changed names in the texts.
if you're an open-world enjoyer, then I would recommend the first one actually. It does a much better job at immersing you in the environment, and it doesn't have a million ugly sky rocks littering the landscape. totk has the better combat, bosses and enemy variety if that's more important, but the world itself feels a lot less immersive
This guy has autism dont listen to him, totk is what botw should have been
if you genuinely believe that totk is more immersive then idk what to tell you
The game is weird in that it barely acknowledges the event's of BotW
The school si where all that backstory is.
Yeah, the story is BoTW but worse. I enjoyed BoTW story but we needed something new.
Why are streamers dropping this game like flies?
Why is there no interest in viewers watching this game?
>dude streamers
Go back fucking gay
>Dude it's a good thing the main culture of gaming has no interest in this game
Kys
To where?
It's a good question though. Kinda weird that it's a massive game setting the sales charts on fire and not that many people want to watch it on twitch.
Here's the secret: people watch games on twitch that they can't play because they're poorfags. Everyone has a Switch.
>>the botw map is reused and not changed much
What a lie
I like how you can tell how little the shitposters know about the game with how many blatantly false things they parrot
Prove them wrong instead of just shitposting saying smugly vague ass statements that mean nothing.
Oh wait you wont, because you are full of shit.
Only 4 dungeons is blatantly false
Same over world is blatantly false
No new towns is blatantly false
Performance being worse is blatantly false
Shrines not being fixed is blatantly false
The game STARTS in a new town, these shitposts are beyond lazy. Try harder
>The game STARTS in a new town
Its a camp, anon.
And new stuff is added as you gradually complete main quests.
Nice job proving you didn't play, though.
I started playing it last night man, calm down.
Well that's neat.
It literally grows in population and structures as you progress complete with side quests and stories
>Only 4 dungeons is blatantly false
Spirit "temple" isn't a dungeon it's a rip off
>Same over world is blatantly false
99% of it is, they just changed couple of things around
>No new towns is blatantly false
Look out Landing is a camp not a town.
>Performance being worse is blatantly false
It's on par and can be worse at times, I've seen insane dips in frame rates for switch
>Shrines not being fixed is blatantly false
They are not fixed, them existing in the first place is a mistake, never mind that they are boring as shit as always and look the same sterile architexture everywhere inside.
>hundreds of caves
>revamped every single settlement
>rewords everywhere else
>99% the same
Holy fuck try harder please
>hundreds of caves
Copy pasted
>revamped every single settlement
Blatant lie
>rewords everywhere else
Of course you're an ESL
You suck at this OP, if you're going to suck dick in bait threads to pick up your arguments since you're such a trogdolyte an original thought never formed in your head, at least stick around long enough so you can carry your shitposts without going 'no u' when you get challenged.
>STILL no argument
>nooooo doesn't count!!
>AHHH A MISSSPELT WORD. I WIN
So you have no arguement?
Anding copy pasted caves with assets from the first game doesn't make the map new. Adding some decorations to towns isn't a "revamp". have a nice day ESL.
>anding
>with a captical A
>has the audacity to call ANYONE an ESL
Hilarious. Sit the fuck down, you thirdworld poormoron
>no argument
Yeah, that's what thought. Don't get why you cultist worship Nintendo of all things when they hate their consumers more than anyone.
>It's only ok when I deflect!
Typical moron, why would I bother arguing with a third world mutt like you when you wont even follow your own code of ethics? Go back to your mud hutt
I accept your concession, moron
he's still at it
Cobbled together camp is not a town
The mech building is not a dungeon
Copy and pasting new rocks around the world does not make it new
The games performance is worse than botw in key moments like using machines or building, aka the main gimmick of the game
I bought the collectors edition, the switch oled, the pro controller, the amiibo, and have played for 40 hours. OP is spot on. It's just dlc
The charm of exploring a new world just isn't there with TotK. I feel like I'm getting ready to drop the game already, and I've only beat two dungeon. If anything, I think they've somehow managed to make bad aspect of BotW worse in TotK. The straw that really broke the camels back, for me, is how brain-dead easy the puzzles, etc. are, which is probably a symptom of the fact that any dungeon/puzzle could be your first one, since it's an open-world game. Everything just feels like one big tutorial. Where's the real game? When do all these new systems get interesting?
>no new towns
The game literally dumps you in a new town after the tutorial
That's not a town you dumb gay
I've been playing it all day today and it really does just feel like BotW with a fresh coat of paint. Probably just going to beeline the main story content.
>OP is still gay
I want to beat the game with the broken master sword modded in and indestructible
I'm kind of disappointed that there's almost less fauna than before. They removed hearty durian and hearty blue snails probably for balance purposes but didn't replace them with anything. Even with caves, the sky and the depths there's not much new. They could have added I don't know sky pineapples and depth angler fish or whatever. It's the same pigs, deer, fish and crabs.
>They could have added I don't know sky pineapples
They could've added sky towns too
Zelda has so much in the sky they could have referenced but the sky areas are just named [region] Sky Archipelago. Cloud Top, City in the Sky and Skyloft all could have been referenced.
Sky is all ruins, dopey moron
>Sky is all ruins
Yeah no towns.
They should've added a floating town full of constructs that have been looping their routines for millennia with some wacky quests for them.
Would be something interesting without breaking lore.
bro what? There is all the elemental fruits as well as the anti gloom flowers, sticky bugs and frogs, glowing foods and stamina onions just off the top of my head. They added heaps more food than the first
I kind of wish the Zonai or ancient Hyrule were depicted as Romans.
>>have to go into menus even more now
out of everything this one is the fucking worst, the weapon fusion system is so half-assed. either have to scroll through the throw material menu which is a horizontal wheel or go into the normal pause menu and manually select a single horn to drop. why the fuck can't you just attach shit directly like the arrows? this is one of the main fucking mechanics and it feels like a modded-in feature you have to preform a weird work around to operate because the modder couldn't figure out how to make new UI elements.
BotW/TotK's UI and controls in general are just fucking terrible in general.
reminder there's concept art of BotW Aryll.
Anyone else find is horseshit how it's implied Zelda just takes over Links home?
Did she, though? Considering the bed is bigger than it was in BOTW and Links’s hairband in Zelda’s secret study, I think the game is implying they’re cohabitating
its confirmed that zelda and link are in a relationship and are living together
Explicitly confirmed? how and where?
I’m planning it rn and it strikes me as a worse BOTW. Autism sandbox isn’t for me, I like games where you have an objective and 90%+ of the game is about wandering around the map so that you can do a shrine or a korok “puzzle”.
Just beat Queen Gibdo for the lightning palace and got the master sword, I think I’m gonna speed run the rest of the “””dungeons””” and the final boss so that I can say I beat the game
I'm having great fun with it. I especially love the caves and the things they bring to the world, but in the end I think BOTW feels like a more focused game with elegant simplicity. TOTK shows that more isn't strictly better.
Generally the puzzles in BotW were better IMO. "Figure out what configuration of janky crap will slide down these rails without falling off" is a shitty puzzle, and jesus does this game LOVE making you do that.
I think it's worse than BotW except for the caves/wells. If you ported those back into BotW, it'd be the best of both worlds.
And boy do I miss whacking bokoblins to death with metal crates. It's sad you can't do that anymore.
>elegant simplicity
elaborate
And yet it's still fun.
>fun
You people made it a meaning buzzword at this point.
>the botw map is reused and not changed much
Honestly caves and wells make a huge difference. I wouldn't want to play these games back to back but TotK fixes everything I hated about the BotW overworld.
On the other hand, it doesn't fix lack of real dungeons, and the building shit is insufferable.
Having access to the Sky Islands tied to the Ubisoft towers is the biggest dissapointment for me. Building hot air baloons, finding a cliff to take off from, etc. should've been the way to get up there. And the Depths... should've just scrapped them. Or, again, get rid of the Lightroot and put the onus on the player to light it up in a more permanent fashion. Beelining in the mark, occasionally throwing down lights, isn't interesting.
The Depths on a whole feel so underbaked. It's like they generated a heightmap and called it a day.
Lookout Landing
>towns
>s
A camp isn't a town let alone "towns".
So they advertised towns plural and added one?
Unless they count rebuilding Lurelin to how it was before as a new town lol
It's been a while since I've seen "dank" used in a non-memetic way.
I haven't been down there yet, but that seaside town sounds more fleshed out? They keep talking about it ingame as an actual town. BotW it was this weird little empty settlement at best
No, the seaside town is taken over by pirates.
You rebuild it as a part of a later quest to the exact same way it is in BotW
No new shops or anything?
No. Its identical.
Wtf gay
Why would there be a town there then?
>Why would there be a town there then?
To make it fucking interesting? The fuck kind of question is that? Why does people wanting empty space to filled with content make you tendies so mad?
The sky and depths are meant to be empty a town there would ruin them!
>has to falseflag
Kinda sad tbh
What would be so interesting about it? Why do you have a hardon for towns when honestly, there is fuck all to them in these games. I'd rather have more puzzles, which is what the sky ruins are for
If anything TotK has too many towns, they could have scrapped some
Now you just come across as seething
>B-But my false narrative
I wouldn't mind it actually
>What would be so interesting about finding new civilizations and getting to interact with them in a fantasy game about exploration?
Puzzles let you explore too. You don't actually want a exploration game, you just want to cry about not being able to read text boxes
>Puzzles let you explore too
Empty space I've already seen in the last game.
Sky ruins weren't in the last game. Can you keep track with the topic we are discussing please?
>Sky ruins weren't in the last game
Dyeing the trees and grass yellow doesn't make them new and there's nothing in these ruins.
>Can you keep track with the topic we are discussing please?
You mean how people wanting content besides emptiness makes you mad?
>It doesnt count because -arbitrary excuse-
Im sick of trying to talk to you garden gnomes.
I accept your concession gay.
Lurelin has the same role basically as a backwater
I only finished BOTW at the beginning of last year and was totally burned out on it by the end
I’m already starting to feel that way after about 15 hours in TOTK, I probably should of waited longer to play this
Not very far but I will say there is a new town. Also the weapon system is kind of in between. Your weapons are now really just hilts or styles like spear vs sword. The real weapons are in your inventory like a bokoblin horn. So you can effectively have limitless weapons. Also the underground is way cooler than I feared it would be.
Still fun.
It's shit.
It and BotW completely fucking lazy attempt at a "reboot", it's fucking stupid.
It's story contradicts not only botw, but every other game that was ever made. You can't even call it a proper reboot either, because it insists on HEAVILY utilizing elements of story from previous games. Which all then fucking contradict TotK and BotW, Master Sword and Fi within being one major thing.
It honest to god feels like the lead writer created a massive fanfic of old scrapped ideas and threw that up as the games story, because it's just all over the fucking place.
How can Zelda be descendant of Rauru and Sonia, having both their powers, if those two did not have kids before dying, with no mention of a descendant in anyway fucking way, meaning the royal family bloodline shouldn’t even exist at all
>well they have an unmentioned unseen child offscre-
That’s still bad writing, and might as well still not exist, if it falls on the viewer to make up an explanation the game never even hints at, go fuck yourself.
How can Fi be in the blade if Skyward sword never occured in the first place, you know the game that tells the story how the Master Sword was forged and created to kill Demise, who shouldn't exist if this is a reboot.
BotW itself suggests the Zonai were a war-like tribe of sabage warriors from Faron's jungle, yet TotK straight up retcons they were a technologically and philosophically advanced race of fucking rabbit dragons from the fucking sky.
This shit fucking reads like a fanfic.
BotW itself had some problems but TotK fucking amps this shit off the charts.
No one cares
You cared enough to reply.
Not to read tho
You would've have seethed over it if you didn't read it.
I didn't
It made you mad, you definitely read it.
Source?
Your anger.
They have an unmentioned unseen child offscreen
Aren't their different timelines in Zelda branching off Ocarina of Time?
The one where Young Link gets sent back to his time, where he fails to beat Ganon, and...the other one that's escaping me.
Zelda's timeline is all over the place.
The unseen child shit is the dumbest rationale I’ve seen. I get the game is still in the honeymoon period but it’s so obvious how poor the writing quality is yet fanboys are still coming up with as many excuses as possible to make it work
LoZ is a parable, there is no canon, there is no timeline, you can have fun references but beyond that nobody cares. The developers don't care, the fans don't care, the book is a fun coffee table paper weight, it's a video game for children.
That said, for a direct sequel the story is pretty weird. But I spent all of 1 minute noticing the retcons before I shrugged and kept playing because nobody in the right mind should ever give a shit.
>LoZ is a parable, there is no canon, there is no timeline
How do you retards still keep spouting this stupid bullshit?
didn't really bother with the tear quests since I already rushed to the master sword but isn't that whole side plot with the dragon completely retarded too
>zelder go back in time to become dragon
>become dragon is irreversible
>it gets reversed anyways
like it seems like theres a lot of stupid shit going on there that just doesn't make sense
we wuz rabbits n shit. wonder if they got esg points for that.
Fi’s never mentioned in game and skyward sword may still be the start of this games lore. It’s assumed gods are coming from all over to this land so it’s not farfetched rauru came down just as hylia came from wherever. The only real omitting of lore is the tree goddesses and the triforce as an actual object and not just a symbol. It’s not bad though as the games were progressively making the triforce too literal and not something sealed in sacred dimension . I can see the sequel to this saga to expand on the triforce far in the future as it was originally conceptualised as computer chips
the depths are pure cancer. ubisoft took notes at how many towers, reused assets and bloat time waste was put into ugly ass unfinished zone.
It's impressive that such flawed game is still the best open world game we have.
Everything you just said is true, you're absolutely right, but, we both know that is going to be goty contendant, just look at the numbers (Mason).
I kinda hate how two elements are enough for me to have fun, Gmod-like mechanics and the OST. Those are the two big things i liked about this game, the story is half-baked and i still haven't got a gerudo gf myself, i hate it here...
Ur just salty op cuz u have no creativity
>only 4 new dungeons and they're short
I wish people would stop calling them dungeons. They’re reskinned Devine Beasts, and hardly that. Glorified extended shrines with a barely there new coat of paint. There’s nothing fresh about these temples. Weaker in tone, setting and layout than even Wind Waker or Twilight Princess rehashes. The series cannot live up to 64’s VIBE (for lack of a better term). It’s fucking sad. The Zelda team is full of hacks that can’t write for shit, clearly preferring sci-fi anime to what their customers actually want: FANTASY
I played the game because online discussion said dungeons are finally back. Unless the final area pulls a Hyrule Castle from BotW, THERE ARE NO DUNGEONS IN MODERN ZELDA. The desert temple was close, but was so so weak, especially compared to the previous game’s castle area.
Anyways, I’m still having fun. Ignoring all the busy work and going straight to the depths.
>I wish people would stop calling them dungeons
As shit as they are they're still dungeons.
>they're still dungeons.
The focus is on going to 4ish locations to do thing to “solve” a wackass door puzzle instead of, you know, rooms full of new and unique monsters and mini-bosses. I just wanted them to be over, like the shrines. The last good dungeon in the series of Arbiter’s Grounds from TP, and even that was just rehashing ideas from ocarina (battle poes and the desert setting).
I feel like I’m being gaslit when people call them dungeons. Are shrines dungeons? Does dungeon mean boring adventure, puzzle gameplay or dangerous Indian jones fantasy type shit? The first Zelda was all combat. Ever since Anouma took over, this series has gone to shit. He can’t play games! What happened to my action RPG?
Play the game before posting, board dwelling goon.
I am, done the zora dunegon, in the sky. And I have seen the wind one is also in the sky. So there is at least two.
Sorry I'm not some neet loser that rushed through the game?
> Sorry I'm not some neet loser that rushed through the game?
Sorry you’re a wage slave that has no control over your life. Keep playing. You’ll find out soon enough.
>false narrative
Did I hit a nerve? Neet loser
I’m not a neet, not a loser. I’m just good at games. Project harder, honky.
Typical moron. Can't enjoy things at a leisurely pace. No wonder your kind are so destructive. You are all riddled with ADHD
I hate that the Water Temple is in the sky. It shoulda been underground like the Ancient Cistern.
I want to add that the advertising for this game fucking sucks. They made it seem like the sky islands were this massive second map that you had to go around and explore. The sky doesn’t shit! No towns! No dungeons! Barely anything at all. The depths are a bigger feature and I didn’t find out about that until playing the game. Complete communication miss from Nintendo. It’s like they were embarrassed to show off the same game again.
Isn't all four dungeons in the sky? Lmao
Half the sky content is dungeons or dungeon lead ups which is even worse because that means half the content has nothing there to find that isn't enemies
Haven't played the game, just curious:
Do you still get this cinematic ingame? Cauz it looked really good for the switch.
No
Damn, I hate when they do stuff like this.
It’s not in the game, there’s similar scenes but the lighting is completely different and Ganondorf’s neck snap is animated differently
It was made solely for the trailer
Could you imagine how funny tendies would find it if Elden Ring 2 used the exact same map as the original? They would never shut the fuck up about it, but Nintendo does it with this shit they get a pass and nobody talks about it. Actual mental illness.
>making a conclusion on something thst hasn't happened
Mental illness
Overwatch did it fine.
Totally different
You don’t interact with Elden Rings environment like in BOTW,
>the botw map is reused and not changed much
It's ~20% different, plus all the sidequests and shrines are completely different and painstakingly handcrafted so you have to actually use the new mechanics. The sky islands and depths are also new content
>no new towns
Lookout Landing is new. The returning towns are all undergoing new dilemnas, and remixed. Even a few stables got converted into new things or closed down.
>only like 8 new enemies types have been added
and that's like 50% more enemies to the roster, nevermind how enemies like the constructs will fuse weapons on the fly or how Yiga pilot vehicles to functionally act like different enemies.
>master sword and every weapon still breaks
Link is an unga bunga retard, not a blacksmith. Thankfully you can craft new weapons from twigs and whatever materials you have on hand
>>only a few new armor sets are new the rest are reused
If it ain't broke don't fix it.
>combat wasn't improved
You can now make elemental arrows and have sage ghosts and vehicles to help you out.
>eating food was fixed and is still overpowered
Being rewarded for finding the ingredient and recipees to make strong food is a good thing.
>loot is still garbage
we're incentivised to use monster parts to make weapons. Loot is finally good
>side quests are still garbage
Sidequests are not only more involved, a lot of them have proper cutscenes now
>the graphics are still garbage
Graphics are better across the board except for shadows, DF went over this.
>have to go into menus even more now
Only if you go balls deep into the crafting mechanics, but autobuild skips a lot of the menus, plus you can sort items by most used.
>the performance is worse than botw
lol no, TOTK is mostly solid 900p/30fps during standard overworld traversal, which is kinda a marvel considering all the physics mechanics interacting with each other.
It has a fuckton if caves
Yeah, there's a lot of caves in the game, many of which lead to pieces of armor or rare gems. All the caves are new, too.
I wish we had an actual map of then and their size because it feels like a lot of them are large too
Thinking about it, there are actually FOUR layers to this game, Sky, land, caves, and depths.
>to pieces of armor
Many of which were in the last game.
>the underground looks the same is even emptier than botw's map
It's inverted and almost unrecognizable when you actually traverse through it, not when you just look at the map You can think of it as one huge mine where you go to kill stuff for resources.
>the sky islands look the same are there barely are any despite all the marketing directed to them
There are at least a chain of islands for every skyview tower, and there are 15 of those. There are a few more involved ones like the Sage of spirit location
>shrines issues weren't fixed (they still all look the same inside and out, puzzles are too short, too easy, and blessing shrines are still a thing)
The shirnes were fixed in the sense that they're more easy to stray from the beaten path and beat creatively thanks to Link's new skillset. Being short isn't a con since there's so many of them, I'd say they don't overstay their welcome, so you can do a few before having to turn off the game.
>only 4 new dungeons and they're short
They're actual dungeons this time, though. Also by my count it's 5 new full fledged dungeons. The climb to the wind temple was anything but short.
>the story is still flashbacks
Good. I don't want my open world games being paused for story cutscenes. If I wanna see them, then I'll seek them out to get context.
>It's inverted and almost unrecognizable
It looks the same through the whole thing.
>There are at least a chain of islands for every skyview tower, and there are 15 of those.
It's still empty and aren't many of them
>in the sense
Right so they weren't fixed then
>They're actual dungeons this time
Was being generous calling them dungeons but since you're calling them "actual dungeons", no, they're just divine beasts.
>Also by my count it's 5 new full fledged dungeons
Then you can't count
>The climb to the wind temple was anything but short
And that's not part of the "dungeon"
>Good
have a nice day.
Lmao nintendo could serve this guy human feces and hed find a way to slurp it up
I didn't care for BotW, but TotK adressed a lot of my complaints. It feels like what BotW should have been. It's the best Zelda game yet, and no appeal to nostalgia can change my mind because I got into the series in my late teens.
>It's ~20% different
So like I said, not changed much
>The sky islands and depths are also new content
And they're empty copy-paste environments
>Lookout Landing is new
And it's a camp not a town.
>and that's like 50% more enemies to the roster
That not much when botw barely had enemy variety in the first place
>Link is an unga bunga retard
What a cope
>If it ain't broke don't fix it.
It's a game that already has shitty rewards for exploring adding new sets would at midate that more, it was broke
>You can now make elemental arrows
By opening the menu each time compared to last game, it's more tedious
>Being rewarded for finding the ingredient and recipees to make strong food is a good thing.
Making this piss easy game even easier isn't a good thing.
>we're incentivised to use monster parts to make weapons that will still break in 3 hits to do the same loop again and again
Not seeing how that make loot not garbage
>Graphics are better across the board
Wasn't talking about emulators
>Only if you go balls deep into the crafting mechanics
You were just harping on about how the game incentives you make weapons with monster parts, that requires you going into the menu a fuck ton. It's the whole gimmick of the game
>TOTK is mostly solid 900p/30fps
It's drops to 20 when using the main mechanic of this game, stop lying
>And they're empty copy-paste environments
moron, are you complaining about the fucking architecture? Zonai is a different culture with its own aesthetic, Of course each island chain isn't gonna reflect the land and races beneath.
>are you complaining about the fucking architecture?
Talking about the islands and underground you illiterate chimp.
Anon, every game has assets that they reuse when necessary, it's not copy paste.
>when necessary
When you have 6 fucking years to make new environments for your exploration game making them copy paste isn't "necessary", it's lazy.
played botw, finished it, but didn't 100% because fuck korok seeds. it was alright. old school OOT and majora's mask are still better. i'd give it a solid 7.5/10
playing totk right now. some improvements, still has not surpassed old school OOT and majora's mask, but i'd give it an 8 or 8.5. actual dungeons this time, but not enough of them. weapon degradation is stupid and annoying. enemy diversity needs to be improved.
i like the sky and i like the depths and their mechanics. i like MOST of the zonai stuff, but i also dont banjo nuts n bolts make vehicles much. map is still huge. shrines are tolerable.
performance on yuzu is great outside of random crashes which seem to come and go, well, randomly. i dont play on handhelds. either way. i am finding totk enjoyable, but it definitely has not surpassed or even equalled OOT and majora's mask. twilight princess is a rough equal i think
The Champions abilities were implemented perfectly in botw, who the fuck thought that the sages abilities were well implemented into the gameplay?
It's so fucking clunky to run around a sage to get the button prompt to use their skills. Specially when you got the full 5 man party (the like end battle).
It's fucking retarded.
>the zelda series died for generic open world slop
I will never not be mad, but it seems that shit taste normies won once again.
Talked about the game to some people the other day, pointed out the dungeons are still shit and short, and while nobody disagreed, nobody seems to be bothered by it. What do these "people" even play Zelda for if it isn't cool dungeons and boss fights? Those should be the high points of the game, not just some forgettable filler.
Look at the sales.
The majority of people will have never played the other games. Also they can't be critical of it unless it's accepted online.
If the dungeons are supposed to be the high point why not play a dungeon crawler where it’s just dungeons?
Because Zelda gave me just that before they rebranded it as "Breath of the Wild".
No, it really didn’t. OoT has a majority of its content outside of dungeons. All of the town mini games, the mask and trading side quests, literally every heart piece is found outside of a dungeon. MM takes this even further by making dungeons even less of a focus because of Clock Town and the Bomber’s Journal. You’re going to be spending more of your time learning about the npcs and helping them out than you are trying to get all of the great fairy pieces. Wind Waker goes further with the Great Sea which you’ll be sailing on looking for treasures or exploring new islands you find. Twilight Princess is similar to OoT but with even more stuff to do in the over world, more secrets to find and more involved npc quests. The only one I would say is close to a dungeon crawler is Skyward Sword because of how little there is to do in the world aside from the dungeons.
Ok, but those were still only side content, and I'm not complaining that Tears of the Kingdom has a lot of that.
The big difference is that those dungeons were actually cool and something to look forward to. They were big, had multiple floors, a mid boss, a big boss, and each came with their unique item to collect.
The dungeons in Tears of the Kingdom feel like 4 shrines in a row with a mediocre boss fight at the end, and nothing else.
There is a clear division in what fans want from a Zelda game. Obviously the dungeon fans weren't the majority.
Man I wonder how long the seethe will continue on for.
Years at least.
The fact the greatest game ever has been released and snoys cant live with it is hilarious to me.
Forbidden West came out last year anon
I stopped playing consoleshit forever ago but as an outsider looking in I gotta ask: why is this a zelda game? I look at the gameplay and see this really shallow, slow puzzle game that would be forgotten about in a week if it were its own game but because its zelda its jacked off as "10/10 goty, gaming is officially saved guiz"
Just go back to your autism simulators. You aren't looking for an answer
>the botw map is reused and not changed much
stopped reading there. apply yourself, retard.
playing it right the fuck now, the most i've noticed so far is theres sky rocks scattered around and giant fucking holes everywhere, some of the villages have silly decorations like the rings at kakriko or the mushrooms at hateno, and a couple of caves so short they make skyrim ones look imrpessive its pretty much the same exact crap, I don't know where the fuck you guys are pulling this narritive that its been radically altered from.
>a couple of caves
you are so full of shit and also a giga retard. stop humilliating yourself this much anon. also you havent even checked the actual underground.
I've been in the spooky underworld and its literally the fucking overworld reversed so the rivers are mountains and shit. you can literally check the underground area without a map by just bringing your map up and swapping to overworld view. like the lost woods has a wall around it instead of a moat on the overworld. theres not even anything to really do aside from hoard zonite and sometimes find ghosts with decent weapons, the fucking trees don't even give health/stamina lights
maybe between the random bits of crap in the underground and the random bits of crap on the overworld it brings the 20% new map to a 30% instead but I don't consider reversing the existing map to be brand new content. mario kart having mirror maps doesn't double the fucking course count
>the underworld is just the upper world reversed!
sure thing schizo
He’s right, the entire underworld is an inverted overworld. The maps
highlights this with the mountains being deep pits in the Depths
>devs pressed invert botw map.
>the depths map was magically created
as I said. you guys are a bunch of schizos, everyone is having fun except you. but I guess you have a right to your subjective opinion.
Not what was said, but it is an inverted overworld map
>the devs didn't just lazily mirror it they wasted 6 years of dev time to recreate the exact map but upsidedown instead of new content
how the fuck is that supposed to be any better?
Jump down a hole
>the botw map is reused and not changed much
objectively false, the entire world has been changed significantly with meaningful additions, not even including caves and wells
>no new towns
what is lookout landing?
>only like 8 new enemies types have been added
way more than 8, and each enemy level has visual distinctions other than color
>master sword and every weapon still breaks
The weapon durability system was never bad and you're a gay if you think it was. Fusion fixes the problem, and you can have weapons repaired and buffed by Rock Octoroks.
>only a few new armor sets are new the rest are reused
there is at least 40 new pieces of armor, not including armor that replaced removed armor from the game.
>combat wasn't improved
Fusion, ultrahand, and recall adds a whole new layer of shit you can use in your arsenal to take enemies down in fun ways. Or you could just have zero fun and do it the hard way because you're too stubborn to experiment and git guf
>eating food was fixed and is still overpowered
Wasn't, you're right though I still hate this
>loot is still garbage
every material has purpose for cooking, fusion, or used as trading goods
>side quests are still garbage
side quests have a lot more depth now and side adventures fulfill a need for side story content.
>the graphics are still garbage
BOTW had a beautiful art style and this is still a beautiful art style. Games don't have to be hyperrealistic western goyslop ln 20 years people will look at this game and still say it's beautiful
(1/2)
>the performance is worse than botw
game dips sometimes, so did launch BOTW and improvements have already been made in patches. Not ideal but the game typically corrects its framreate problems quickly
>the underground looks the same is even emptier than botw's map
The underground is a giant mining area for resources, filled with bosses, and has 2 of the games dungeons in it along with a lot of the best loot in the game. It's massive but it's filled with shit to do. BOTW was also never empty that was a retarded criticism then, and now.
>the sky islands look the same are there barely are any despite all the marketing directed to them
the sky islands look small from an overhead view but the grand majority are layered islands with a ton of verticality
>shrines issues weren't fixed (they still all look the same inside and out, puzzles are too short, too easy, and blessing shrines are still a thing)
The shrines look more visually appealing, the puzzles are more fun, and the blessing shrines weren't the problem, the 20 tests of strength were, which has been changed to be unique enemy challenges using a certain set of tools at your disposal and tutorial shrines.
>only 4 new dungeons and they're short
5, dungeons are at least an hour a piece which is normal for Zelda dungeons, some longer.
>the story is still flashbacks
It's flashbacks that directly correlate with the present day and impacts the narrative more than in BOTW, but even if I agreed with you (I don't), story is the least important aspect of a video game over good gameplay
You didn't play the game. You will never be a woman. And you do it for free. have a nice day and do the world a favor. Verification not required
I don't know. I'm not feeling it. The new building mechanic is a lot of fun to mess around with, and offers a lot of possibilities, and I also like that they fleshed out the world a bit with more NPCs and side quests.
But what about the core of the game that really matters? Combat and puzzles? Those shrines haven't been imrproved in the least, and are still braindead and underwhelming. There's no cool bosses, the enemy variety has somewhat improved but is still lackluster at the end of the day, and the Temples are a fucking joke.
It's all shine, no substance. Everything about the game is good, but when it comes to the stuff that really matters it falls flat.
>Give Link a robot arm with magnet powers
>Game features floating islands and ascending/descending as a heavily reused motif both in themes and gameplay
>Combat continues to revolve around stunlocking enemies until their ridiculous health bars hit zero with no attack variation to keep things interesting
It would have never been easier to justify giving Link a move like snatcher or a launcher and air combos to add some Hispanice to the combat but instead its completely unchanged from the original.
and like always OP is a moron
>literally just the same map twice but with random walls in a few spots to arbitrarily make you walk around
>empty overworld just there to waste your time trekking through long stretches of nothing, no point in fighting enemies
>no story, retcons LoZ, how is Ganon alive to steal the Triforce of Power if he dies here??? bullshit writers hate their own fucking canon
>no raft
>OC donut steel nu-sword instead of the iconic Magic Sword Link is known for wielding

Didn't work. Get fucked
>cant upgrade best set in the game at the fairy
Holy fuck you retarded morons nintendo, make me work for all the pieces and all it is is a shittier sheikah stealth set, could have had something like gloom reduction or gloom heals you
