        1. why do you care how other people play games? it's seriously weird.
        2. why would a recession knock out the more affordable option? it's more likely going to knock out pc. developing for console is cheaper and easier these days and consoles are more profitable targets so if anything devs will cut out pc which accounts for less than 10% of gamers anyway. pc players are the welfare queens of the game industry. maybe if you paid for games instead of pirating all of them the devs would care but at this point they're already dumping you in favor of consoles because they're fed up with shrieking ungrateful babies who don't even pay for their games.

          >1. why do you care how other people play games?

Because consoles held back gaming since their very conception. Hell they already crashed gaming once, and are going to do it again.

irrelevant. even if it did why would that affect you as a corvette owner? stop being stupid. the only way consoles affect you as a pc player is by bringing more money to the industry. consoles generate over 90% of all game industry revenue and you cringefest pc spastics have never had it so good as a result. most pc players pirate more than they buy so stfu about the industry you don't even contribute to. there's a reason devs cater to console players and ignore you, it's because console players actually pay the devs paycheck, you don't. if console players want troony shit then you'll get troony shit and you'll like it or stop playing games. simple as.

Industry that is driven by LNG prices.

Most of Germany's oil comes from the port of Rotterdam via truck and pipelines. Most of the country also still burns oil for its energy supply. 55% of imported gas is Russian but they already started drilling for gas in De Waddenzee.

Only thing that changes is energy becomes more expensive and your quality of life goes down. Wonder what the western citizens will say if they need to sit in the jacket at home in the winter? Or they can't eat meat every day? Or they are not allowed to charge their phones more than once a day because blackouts?

Yes you can theoretically survive by doing this or that but can you get used to it? The distraction industry relies on something you can't afford in the future.

That industry is running on Russian gas. There is no feasible way to disconnect from their grid unless you want to shut down every factory. My theory is ~~*they*~~ want you to cut back on your quality of life. If you live like a poorgay in a third world country then ~~*they*~~ can supply you with just enough to go by.

The proper controls and checks are no longer in place, people trust in the bailouts that will never come, and when they talk about this shit in the history books, they'll say "even up until the day people started rioting in the streets, for the majority it was still business as usual, get up, go to work to earn money that didn't exist".

There's basically zero probability of peacefully integrating the Ukranian people now, occupation would result in non-stop guerilla attacks for decades so all that matters for Russia is the oil and gas reserves in the Donbas and securing the flow of water into Crimea. Escalating to nuking Kyiv and going "lol now what the frick are you gonna do about it pussies" to NATOgays isn't completely unthinkable.

STEM can work out, but you do need to put in a lot of elbow grease and get good grades/build up a portfolio of extracurricular work (depending on the degree) if you really want a good job right out of school. However, postponing by a year or two because of the recession might not be a terrible idea just to ensure you graduate when the job market isn't actively tanking.

Videogames and alcohol did even better in the wake of the 2008 crash than they did before, Wrath of the Lich King was literally the peak subscriber count for WoW. In fact because games are so inexpensive in terms of dollar to hours of entertainment value I'd expect they would have a surge in success during the coming recession as well because when you can't afford to go to the movies or pay for drinks and cover at a bar or night club and are home with nothing to do on the weekends, playing a 200 hour rpg is suddenly a great investment

considering all of society relies on gasoline to function it is a public utility and the pumps that distribute it are public property. you can play word games and shuffle around meaningless paper money but that doesn't change the physical reality of the situation. there is demonstrable ownership and illusory (ie legal) ownership. you fell for the illusion.

gas stations don't profit on the gas they sell, they profit on the service of distributing gas for the refineries according to their contract. a gas station is a publicly subsidized business insofar as the oil industry is a publicly subsidized industry and the station wouldn't even exist without it. it has nothing to do with what somebody can afford, i don't know why you lolberts keep bringing that up.

gas prices actually when up abit during 2017-18. But then fracking started to gain more traction again, it basically caused opec/russia undercutting to frick other countries oil production. Then we had great opec x russia pricing war, which basically resulted in a whole sale of dirt-cheap oil for anyone with a single brain cell(ie pretty everyone was buying the shit out of it). Then we had those brief few months of energy independence. 2020 prices started going up during the winter because economies were starting to open up again while oil production had been slowed during the pandemic

Homes use barely anything electricity wise compared to industry. With industry shutdowns during the pandemic, the demand for electricity and gas (not petrol) overall was down, therefore the prices were cheaper. As demand rose as people and industry started getting abck to work, prices rose. This was only compounded by sanctions on a large oil and gas exporter, that being Russia.

Russia caused the low availability of fossil fuels, freezing the economy reduced the global buying power to cause the price hike on everything.

This is the mistake that everyone makes thinking they can just turn inward and generate their own energy at their own prices. If your country trades on the global market, it does not matter whether it has nuclear power stations or not.

            Anonymous

What? of course you can. Build nuclear reactors to generate enough power to substinate yourself. Sell the rest over to others. France is a prime example of it. Germany is the direct opposite.

            Anonymous

we're talking about electricity prices zogbot. a country can absolutely lower its electricity prices by simply making nuclear plants a tax free business. competition and energy production would skyrocket as energy corporations scramble to build facilities and gain market share. that's literally how other countries have solved the energy crisis in rapidly growing metropolises.

It can take over a decade in some cases but that's irrelevant. Anon claimed you couldn't generate tour own electricity at your own prices which is false. The US government has been shutting down nuclear plants and shrieking about meme energy like wind and solar and now we're screwed but that wasn't because of globalism, just bad domestic policies.

You know what the best part is?
You can easily manipulate the "environmentalists" into swinging either way
Grab yourself an environmental grant about saving the tree and how the increased lumber production is destroying forests faster than they can be reproduced.
Take out a television advert on some major liberal networks, CNN/etc, and publish an ad about how the increased cardboard usage is destroying the forests, maybe include some sad looking animal stock footage or some shit
And then boom, we're back to using plastics until someone takes out an ad spot about muh microplastics.

Except logging has been a net positive for trees for decades. They plant more than they take and properly rotate land.

Deforestation is primarily due to livestock farming and oil plantations.

Logging is also fixing some mistakes done in the past, lots of man made forests where they only planted one type of tree. Which isn't the benefit people thought it would be

The bag ban did a lot to clean up litter.
They had one in my city for several years and I lived 2 miles from work and a mile from my grocery store so I didn't even bother having a car and the ammount of plastic bags shitting up the place drastically reduced.
Reusable bags are a million times better for groceries anyways since they're bigger and more durable.
The only downside was realizing I would have to buy tiny trash bags for the bathroom wastebin and sifting kitty litter.

It's an interesting point regarding videogame cost. The consumer analysis now shows price is the single biggest factor in video game decision making, and there is an either/or mentality to game purchasing, especially for big sports franchises (as well as a rejection of annual purchase patterns).

The anualised AAA industry will keenly feel the effects of this.

If natural resources were an issue they would stop all immigration into the states, as the US has more than enough farmland, coal, and oil for the entire country to be self sufficient and self sustaining. This is NOT the case if we keep importing millions and millions of third worlders into the county who take up more resources here than back home.

EVERY SINGLE PERSON WORRIED ABOUT CLIMATE CHANGE AND RESOURCE SCARCITY SHOULD BE VEHEMENTLY ANTI IMMIGRATION. But they're not. They're completely the opposite. Just like how climate alarmists are vehemently anti nuclear. They're being taken for a ride and they're too stupid to notice.

Are you stupid or something? There cant be runaway Co2 because the warming and cooling cycles of the sun wont allow it. Fricking hell man. Did you not just listen when I said we were about to go into an ice age and it's likely that our Co2 output PREVENTED THAT? Which is a GOOD THING.

And by the way, the further you go back, the more inaccurate co2 readings are on a time based scale. Ie. readings from 100,000 years ago will have a 1% variance leading to an inaccurate reading where fluctuations in a 1000 year period would go unread. Hundreds of millions of years ago would result in inaccurate readings spanning millions of years.

Amazing how Co2 levels are the highest in millions and millions of years, and yet the temperature isn't.

TEMP drives the feedback loops you idiot, not CO2. Co2 itself is the a contributing driver of the result, the result being higher temps. Temps being higher in the past means that methane stores should have been released and saw runaway warming. Its irrelevant if CO2 levels werent as high even though temps were higher. the CONCERN is high temps causing a feedback loops. But Temps WERE higher MULTIPLE times in the last million years, and NO runaway warming took place from released methane stores. Explain.

The Permian extinction came before that and was so fricking horrific it made the K.T. asteroid impact look like child's play in comparison.
That one was caused by super-volcanic basalt eruptions pumping insane amounts of C02 within the atmosphere over an extended period of time - which in turn, resulted in apocalyptic feedback loops that wiped out 94-98% of all life on planet earth.

Theres no models that exist from 20 years ago that accurately predicted todays climate.

I know youre a layman, but models are NOT predictions. Models are models, that's it. They are useful for amalgamating data and trying to draw information from that data. I repeat, models are NOT predictions. Most models end up being WRONG because they are NOT predictive, nor are they meant to be.

Now everything is always on, microtransactions, loot boxes, subscription services, DLC, NFTs and weirdly when people find things expensive they stop buying poor value for money shite that doesnt entertain them for the price.

Yay, the rise of fan-made games. Companies should just release the code for all of the dead franchises like Castlevania so fans can breathe life and hype back into gaming so once the economic hardship is over we can get some games.

Yet electric cars are being pushed more then over, kind of counterproductive to push them if we aren't supposed to have mobility.

                Anonymous

Electric cars need constant recharges unlike common gas cars that you can store that shit easily, and all recharge stations will be controlled and trying to bypass it will be considered illegal, total mobility control.

                >literally just get solar panels and charge your car during the day

No, they will have all cars have chips on them (like they are right now) and when you try to recharge it if the source isnt legal they will at best make it not work and at worst send a message to the cops of your illegal activities. These new electronic cars all have internet access and already refuse to work for arbitrary reasons, what is stopping them from doing this?

                Anonymous

Slow charging for hours over a normal connection is less of a meme on the electric grid then dumping megawatts on fast chargers. A decent solar panel setup can slow charge an electric car with zero impact on the grid.

Trying to replace gas tax by taxing electricity for electric cars differently would be dumb. It will either be registration costs going through the roof, toll roads everywhere or mandatory GPS tracking for per-KM fees

Yeah, I'm sure all the pharmaceutical companies didn't charge governments for anything. And I'm sure with everyone inside Amazon took a huge hit. And I'm sure the supermarket chains were brought to their knees after the tidal waves of panic buyers and also being able to sell to people inside via delivery services while small businesses were forced to shutter and die.

It'll collapse the third and second-world ones first.

friends, what if i told you both were true? our current infinite growth model WILL crash and fail because mathematics demands that it does. but that doesn't mean humans will die out. in fact, with the overwhelming majority of easy-to-access/surface level deposits of metals, rare metals, and fossil fuels exhausted, the far future couldn't look more bright.

there won't be a second industrial revolution. without global infrastructure and the benefit of continuous vertical development, the next generation of men will wake to a world in balance - the way it always should have been. without easy access to all of the materials that drive our modern world, men will settle into a pre-industrial state of equilibrium, producing enough for their needs and dying peacefully without surplus to fuel the worst aspects of our nature. people will unironically be riding horses and living in small communities in the year 2500. the near future is grim but the far future has never been brighter.

that doesn't disagree with anything i said. billions will die off to create that equilibrium because they only exist due to unsustainable technological advances in the first place. this is not a bad thing. the survivors of the black plague were objectively/measurably/demonstrably better off for their losses. places that are too cold to live comfortably today (far northern/southern hemispheres) will become temperate to offset everything along the equator getting heat blasted into a desert.
