currently doing a replay of tw. last time I played it was 18 years ago on release and I must say I am really disappointed so far. it feels like it plays on rails. I already did 2-3 dungeons I can only hope the streamlined gameplay opens up soon. The whole "dark" setting is also way to depressing for a zelda game. As much as I hate windwanker I think its the better zelda game even tho the open world navigation is retarded, to much open space and not enough dungeons.
>I played it was 18 years ago
Where did my life go. Anyway, I thought Twilight Princess was really bad when it came out. I only enjoyed the snow dungeon but other than that cannot remember anything about it. Wind Waker on the other hand is memorable, great music, and pretty chill. But also feels unfinished. It feels like there's essentially three stages and the rest is filler. They should have added significantly more islands.
both games suffer from a barren overworld. they both came out in a time when game dev's started to progressively increase and market their games by how big their worlds were. They keep on pushing this stupid trend even to this day, nowadays with ai and autogenerated maps its even dumber. I would rather have had a small and compressed world like in oot. Every room/area had something to find and explore.
wind waker might be unfinished but at least it has a personality
That's some of the most obvious samefagging I've seen here in a while. I hope it didn't take you too long to orchestrate this autistic thread
That said, both are the best action adventures of their gen and they got rated by critics accordingly
Critic$ accordingly, why yes. More like they didn’t want what Gertsman got for rating Zelda an 8.5 or whatever it was. Yes, both are good games. As long as you never played the N64 ones.
I’m like the complete opposite lol. I was 10 years old when Ocarina came out and it just never clicked with me. I was 15 for Wind Waker and it became my favorite Zelda game ever.
. There’s plenty of us out there that put Wind Waker above OoT. Majora’s Mask is just okay for me. It was a one and done Zelda.
>Zelda was irrelevant post-N64 until BOTW
TP had even more hype than OoT, sold more and is in the top 10 highest rated games of its generation together with Wind Waker. The internet should be IQ gated
The main problem was that Twilight Princess was in development for so long that Okami and Shadow of the Colossus got released before it and sort of ate its lunch.
SOTC had so many moments where I wondered why I was playing it. Lengthy, featureless terrain rides on the horse; Jank colossus mechanics where I couldn't even figure out how to activate them (ex: 2nd colossus), annoying repetitive boss fights involving specific jumping/grab mechanics that climax'd with the awful final fight. Incomparable to a mainline zelda game

I was referring more to SotC’s art style sharing a lot of similarities with TP. By the time Twilight Princess came out in 2006, it didn’t feel as fresh as it would have if it had made the original release date.
Ask a /vr/-tard what their thoughts are on ANY video game ever made, and it'd probably be the same guy telling you it was never good to begin with. Kiss my Bee-hind.

Honestly, these days I lean more toward TWW. Sure, it's blatantly unfinished and the ocean, while a neat concept, has way too much empty space, not to mention the fact that most quadrant have a single island with a single gimmick, which makes exploration not as satisfying as it could've been. However, at the very least it has an identity all its own. It definitely feels like the developers had a coherent vision for the game from the beginning, and followed through with it to the end. TP definitely feels like a game they were forced into making. Sure, they inserted some of that Nintendo charm here and there, but it seems to waffle between being its own thing and simply aping OoT because that's literally the only reason it exists instead of what they actually wanted to make, which was TWW2. And so, while it ostensibly is more complete of a game with more content, some places still feel empty and like soulless husks of what it could've been. In any case, both are flawed, and I still prefer OoT, because it's the complete package: it's a finished, highly polished game that fully knows what it is and what it sets out to do, and realizes it.
I think the whole Wind Waker debacle showed Nintendo that their fans are a bunch of in-fighting drooling retards that shouldn’t be pandered to. Just stick to your artistic vision.
This. As much as people shit on Skyward Sword, it's literally just a hyper version of OoT.
>giant, mostly empty hubworld >you have to revisit the exact same places for new dungeons >you HAVE to ride an animal to get across the hubworld >annoying helper always buzzing in your ear >every item in each dungeon solves that dungeon, with limited need for it outside >Impa is a Arabian super ninja who would have simply saved Zelda by herself if Link weren't fated to do so >THIS IS THE ORIGIN FOR [insert thing that was fine being a mystical object]
So it's just the worst parts of OOT without any of the good ones? (not running at soulful 20 fps with smooth vaseline graphics, didn't come out when I was 7 years old, no e-bois)
Is the Switch remaster worth a try? I finished it on Wii back in 2011 when it came out, but I remember the endgame padding(Tadtones) being a real slog.
I’ll never understand why Aonuma was put in charge of Zelda instead of Koizumi, who has a background in film and gave the Link’s Awakening script so much soul.
I’ll never understand why Aonuma was put in charge of Zelda instead of Koizumi, who has a background in film and gave the Link’s Awakening script so much soul.
I'll never understand why they put someone who disliked the original Zelda and thought the best thing about ALLTP was "cutting grass" in charge of the series. Then again, they did the same shit with Sakamoto and that retard admitted to have never beaten a Metroid game until Samus Returns on 3DS.
Never played the switch version, but my friend has and says jt's the same as the wii. Use motion controls, using the joystick to aim the sword is shit he said
Sucks to find out that Miyamoto didn’t like the art direction for Wind Waker at first. He was wrong. I used to hate on Aonuma, but now I think he and Koizumi have long since surpassed Miyamoto.
Are you the turbo autist who said OoT was supposed to look cartoony? What a coincidence that you are here in this shitpost thread that I'm sure wasn't made by your obsessed ass
wind waker is how you kill a franchise. Imagine being handed a god tier aesthetic crafted over half a dozen games, and you decide to uproot the whole thing and explicitly gear it for kids. In a setting that neuters the overworld and replaces it with playable loadscreens involving a boat on featureless terrain. What were these asiatics thinking?
How do you guys even remember these arguments you had months ago? I usually get in vehement, thread-long arguments here and then forget it the next day. It’s cathartic.
That says it all really. Modern Switch owners deciding anything is a mistake.
It’s more that it’s completely baffling that Wind Waker and Twilight Princess HD are still in Wii U jail when practically everything else got ported over. Wind Waker’s 20th anniversary came and went this past spring.
Tendo are waiting for a year when they have really nothing zelda related to put on switch, maybe then they'll outsource a port of one of them to some chinese mobile game dev
In my youth, I liked them both. At the time, I probably would've said I liked WW more. Now, I've come to hate them and I consider them two of the worst games in the series. Ironically, I didn't care too much for OoT as a child (despite it being one of my first Zelda games), and I only gained a true appreciation for it once I went back as an adult. The opposite happened with these two, where all the things I liked about them as a child turned out to be pointless, frivolous bullshit with no impact on actual gameplay. WW is an ugly, empty sandbox and TP is an ugly railroad. Two turds, one toilet.
I’m like the complete opposite lol. I was 10 years old when Ocarina came out and it just never clicked with me. I was 15 for Wind Waker and it became my favorite Zelda game ever.
There are towns in BoTW? I got bored of that shit like 10 mins and never played it again. BTW emulating WiiU version on a 2K or better monitor is way better looking than real hardware homosexuals will ever know.
BotW has a character that seriously pulls the 'I look like a e-boi but I’m actually 200 years old' anime trope. Fucking cringe and so out of place in a Zelda game.
I always liked Twilight Princess and its earthy tones. It was more pleasing riding Epona across the fields later in the game than sailing the endless ocean.
and to add, riding the horse in BotW was the biggest letdowns I ever experience in vidya. We've come a long way as far as horse riding mechanics go, from SotC, then RDR, and TPP... but BotW was the crappiest I've experienced in recent memory. Even Twilight Princess felt better.
This isn't a debate. WW had SOVL and the best depiction of Ganon as an actual villain in the entire series. I could never get enough of exploring the ocean, maybe there could have been more stuff to find but I respect the ambition to make something different.
TP is an OOT remake made out of spite, it has the worst art style, worst character models and worst world design of the entire series. Miyamoto should have been punched in the face when he said that Midna had to be on wolf link's back all the time.
Zant could have been a good villain if they didn't just throw him aside as a joke character to have last minute Ganon.
Yep. Including Ganondorf as the real villain was a huge mistake. Should’ve just been Zant.
I remember beating Lakebed Temple, just to find myself right in front of fucking Zant. It was an actual OH SHIT moment. Would've been cooler if Link had tried to actually fight him instead of just staring, futile though it would've been, but maybe he really was that intimidating. Anyway, as soon as Ganondorf gets brought up by the Sages in Arbiter's Grounds, it was obvious he was gonna get sidelined, but the outright character assassination they gave him was really, really stupid, especially considering Ganondorf is easily the least interesting he's been since ALttP.
Both garbage. Zelda was irrelevant post-N64 until BOTW. If you had defended those games when they came out you would have been laughed at.
That's some of the most obvious samefagging I've seen here in a while. I hope it didn't take you too long to orchestrate this autistic thread

Disgraceful behavior.
Irresponsible posting.

Stop talking about new games homosexual.

>mogged by gaylo and tony cock
by gaylo
Just like every PS2 exclusive. Meanwhile Gaylo gets mogged by a GC exclusive
TP was the Real Successor of N64 Zelda Wind Shitwaker is Garbage and BOTW and TOTK are not even Real Zelda Games
>BOTW and TOTK are not even Real Zelda Games
they're the realest, compared to tomb raider rip offs on 64 and onwards
BOTW and TOTK are more like Zelda 2 different from the Real Zelda

This board is purgatory
Happens when the mod is a deranged shitposter
bad vs meh
Wind Waker is a masterpiece. Twilight Princess is very good.
%3D%3D
Both have more soul in their little finger than most other games combined tbh

Now we know what riled them so up

Skyward sword is the best zelda game, period

Aonuma has never made a Zelda game in his life.

Well, we both know it is you and that you need psychological help lol
I think you need to take your meds and spend less time on this board, anon.

It's crazy to think if Nintendo didn't release this the Gamecube would have had no good Zelda games.
That is actually how I played OoT for the first time. Wind Waker is my favorite 3D Zelda though.
are you me?
i'm doing a zelda month and i just started majoras mask on my copy of this
it froze almost immediately after getting turned into a deku scrub and getting into town
How do you guys even remember these arguments you had months ago? I usually get in vehement, thread-long arguments here and then forget it the next day. It’s cathartic.
There's no debate. They both suck.
They suck so bad people are begging for Switch ports

Sounds to me like you’re just a salty Wind Waker hater.
sure, good luck with your discord troon thread
Knew it.

There's no debate to be had, they both sucks in various ways that complement each others oddly enough
meanwhile gba got the best zelda of the time
the best 2d zelda by a landslide, for sure.
Ezlo is also an S tier companion.
All companions are garbage.
SOVL
Wind Waker is so bad it makes Majora's Mask look like a masterpiece. However you can apply a randomizer and it's transcendent.
Twilight Princess is a class of its own, probably the only S tier Zelda game.
twilight princess because midna is the hottest thing ever created.
>Wind Waker
>"NOOOO! IT'S TOO CARTOONY & KIDDY! I WANT A ZELDA GAME LIKE THE OOT SPACEWORLD DEMO!
>Twilight Princess
>NOOOO! IT'S TOO MUCH LIKE OOT! I WANT AN ORIGINAL ZELDA!
both games are fine. most zelda fanboys don't know what they want. i can only imagine what you homosexuals have to complain about with BOTW or TOTK?
Devs should never, ever, EVER, listen to the fucking fans. They're just mindless drones that can never make up their minds.
>i can only imagine what you homosexuals have to complain about with BOTW or TOTK?
I haven’t played TotK yet but my only real gripe with BotW is that the towns and characters are too Japanesey.
There are towns in BoTW? I got bored of that shit like 10 mins and never played it again. BTW emulating WiiU version on a 2K or better monitor is way better looking than real hardware homosexuals will ever know.

that game just gives you too many other more fun ways to traverse the overworld for its own good
like teleporting to towers and gliding off them? If the horse riding was actually any good it'd be used more often, or even at all for that matter.

How many fucking Zelda threads do you freaks need
Just make a zelda general already ffs
TP has Midna, so it's better than WW.
Both. Literally no reason to choose if you own a ChadCube
