the first Dead Rising is one of the greatest video games ever made.
the survivor AI is the only bad thing about it, everything else was made with such care and balance it's basically perfect.

Adam's mini chainsaw and those three books that make it last for like 2000 kills breaks the game and its premise even tho it is amazing
Firstly, you shouldn't know about that on your first run. Secondly, a mini chainsaw run is fun as hell. Nerfing it would be a sin
I never used books and the mini chainsaws lasted until after the military showed up and before OT. The jeep machine gun also chews through all the bosses. They’re just too good.
>The jeep machine gun also chews through all the bosses
Isn't that balanced by it being a pain in the ass to carry around, though? I never even considered that. Agree on the minichainsaws though, I avoided using them because they're insanely OP. Instead I went with katana + books which was powerful enough.
You'll drop it if you switch weapons, dodge roll or get grabbed but it locks onto a zombie's head with each tap of the trigger so it's really easy to clear a path
How did they frick up the remasters so badly? The 360 version is still the best.

This game runs fabulously. The graphical options are relatively fair. While it could use a more in depth tweaking of textures details I was really happy to be able to turn off motion blur. (This is on the PC)
The game has not changed. They even included the DLC outfits which I was pleasantly surprised by. This port is fantastic. It runs without a god damn hitch. Loading screens are barely noticeable.
Not being able to play this without a 360 had buried it under the really lack luster sequels which were sort of puked out over and over. I don't like the over the top mess it turned into. (Al though crafting is cool.)
Dead Rising is in pristine condition. The PC port is wonderful. I cannot speak for the consoles but I imagine they fair really well.
I thought it was okay other than the audio. The audio does not sound clear at all, and really detracts from cutscenes, which is a major reason I always play on 360 when I feel like it.
I played on PS4 and I thought it was really well done, and the audio was great. I play with nice headphones and the sound was one of the things I noticed actually. Great positional audio and really good ambient noises like the hum of the machinery on the roof and such. What is supposedly fricked up about it? Never played the original.
>What is supposedly fricked up about it?
Everything sounded nice in game except the cutscenes for some reason. They just sounded low quality or something. I played recently on the 360 version, and it sounded crisp with cutscenes.
Idk, maybe it was a bad PC port at the time as I did play the PC port when it came out in 2016.
1 is fine, it's 2/OTR that have shit ports.
it ran good on my xbox juan
Survivors were made worse by players assuming they're all helpless babies. If you charge on ahead and call them only once, they'll wade through the zombies well enough on their own most of the time. Spamming the call button tends to make them pause a lot, which opens them up to getting grabbed.
Aiming mode with guns didn't control very well though.
Besides that, yeah it's one of my favorite games of all time.

You can also just RT+Y survivors in a corner and clear out zombies too. Takes longer, but ensures they won't get grabbed.
People are just moronic.
This, Oblivion, and GTA4 really made me understand the power of the next gen. The fact you could have so many zombies on screen and "everything" was a weapon was mind blowing at the time. Game still looks great, animations are better than every sequel after it. Everything had weight, except the cars and guns but that's not what the game is about. I've never been more stressed out playing a game because of all those goddamn timers but that's part of the tension of it all
The crowds were impressive but "everything" being a weapon was oversold. It disappointed me that you could only pick up what was designated a weapon but the variety was great.
For once, OP is not actually a homosexual and is entirely 100% correct.
>he used the spitfire cheese on the last boss
i miss the daily dead rising threads in 2016
>the survivor AI is the only bad thing about it, everything else was made with such care and balance it's basically perfect.
Except the final boss. Who the frick thought that was a good idea?
Game nails the tone with humor and seriousness too,
Later games got shitty with the jokes
I honestly think the game gets boring when the military shows up. No survivors, no bosses, and at one point no zombies. Just waiting and a fetch quest. Is there anything fun to do during the last hours for future playthroughs?
Not really. It's just stocking up on stuff (and mixing drinks) for waiting, and blazing through the fetch quest in like 10 minutes (if you know where the closest items are to each other).
The final parts of Dead Rising are honestly the worst parts of the game.
but thats kino
>making your way throughout the quiet empty mall being surrounded by corpses with only the mall music playing the background
From a story standpoint it's interesting how the mall becomes MORE creepy when it's deserted, kindve like an I Am Legend thing. Just wish the drones and shit weren't so annoying
I liked to run around and disembowel soldiers but there's only so much of that you can do
the bosses were really unnecessarily hard for no reason or i just sucked ass at the game as a kid, who knows
For FRICKS sake Otis, I was being attacked, I don't need your attitude.
The sole thing that kills it for me is the fact that the Jeep convicts outdoors respawn. I think it's the fact that they are the ONLY maniacs in the game who respawn, which means it was probably a mistake, which means I hoped for years it would get fixed and never, ever did.
At least they're easy to deal with if you have the mini chainsaws (and get stuck on the tree).
It was a mistake but you're never forced to go out there by day 2. Even without the shortcut you can go from paradise to entrance to alfresco to food court to wonderland to north
Frick that one ledge on the roof when you had too many survivors
not only the best game of 7th gen but also gave birth to the most soulful engine in video gaming, mt framework
So is the Remaster worth a pirate?
I mean, it's okay. It's the next best thing if you don't have the 360 version to play. The audio, at least for me, was bad though.
this game and chaos theory are peak attention to detail / soul / effort of that gen
it's like after that everybody stopped trying to make the best possible product
The threads we had when the PC port came was really good. Such a nice thread. I'm sure all anons aside from me jo longer posts here unfortunately.
It makes me sad that this game series is dead. Then again, it got progressively worse with each release.
quit this dogshit during the first boss where you have to take pictures of him
one of the jankiest most boring games ive ever played.

>the survivor AI is the only bad thing about it
It's frustrating, but I don't exactly hate it. It's fun to watch someone get eaten for being a doofus.
