Super Castlevania IV is my favorite game in the series and SOTN was pretty good, just something different. POR ended up being my second favorite. I've lamented not having more of the regular style but then you don't want every series to end up like the NES run of Megaman, do you?
Those are both the best entries in their franchises though? I say this as someone who was with Resident Evil from the very first game but with Castlevania from Dawn of Sorrow and then going back to play the older games
What? You think because the camera's nbehind you that it stops being a moronic tank? Why can't you strafe? Like a basic TPS?
Listen to any professional reviewer like Yahtzee from Zero Punctuation. They all agree that RE4 is when the series stopped using tank controls
why the frick do people think re4 and 5 dont have tank controls?????? They have the same movement as RE3. Its only the aiming and camera angles that changed.
>Its only the aiming and camera angles that changed.
Exactly. Those are what make tank controls tank controls and RE4 changed that.
I think less of people who get filtered by tank controls than homeless bums, it literally takes 5 minutes to figure out and be comfortable to be with it.

I'm going to assume OP is off his meds if he's saying he prefers Castlevania 3 / Super Castlevania to SotN. Probably has back pains and can't move past Castlevania 1 for the NES nostalgia.
>proceed through level after level in straightforward gauntlet of combat and platforming
or >an entire castle lays before you and you must improve your character in order to unlock its secrets
Some people would rather walk up 5 consecutive vertical screens locked into stairs avoiding medusa heads.
Old castlevanias were incredibly linear and the skill curve is just knowing where to get wall chickens/secrets and having 3x special and cross/water with enough hearts. If OP just put RE up there you could have an argument but going from Super Castlevania to SotN is an upgrade in every single way.

I bet you don't even have A ranks in any of the original RE's fake boomer.
>mfw tofu filtered me
>Castlevania games became better than ever before
>RE games became worse than ever before
They're not the same, at all
>re 'purists' still seething re4 was the first good game in the series
Nostalgia blinded dweebs will continue to seethe for all time
kek they are the same cucks who complain about Ashley's AI, I swear only people who are mechanically bad at video games seem to hate RE4.
They were right, that's why RE5 did better.

In SotN's defense, if it didn't change the formula, it would've died long before it would've been a more household name.
Tank control REs are boring as frick
Don't reply to me
RE4 had tank controls and so did re5. So basically you only like 6,7,and Village?
It surprises me to know how many RE4gays aren't aware of their game's flaws when they talk shit about classic RE.
I think he means can't into fixed camera + tank controls. Truly a devious combo.
RE4 didn’t have tank controls and neither did RE5 zoomer
yes they did you absolute moron. I played every RE game in order at release. RE6 is when they stopped using tank controls

Stop the bait

Both of these games are great.

It’s bait
Wait, how did Symphony of the Night ruin Castlevania?

He prefers Classicvania over the Metroidvania style games.

I prefer classicvania myself but I think both should exist

>Castlevania and Resident Evil ruined Castlevania and Resident Evil
This is one strange screwjob.
