The Great Gianna Sisters

One of the greatest Commodore 64 games of all-time, and I believe this game is underrated by the vast majority of people here.

If anything, why did this C64 game get despised for? I believe Super Mario Bros. ripped off The Great Giana Sisters and not the other way around.

that never happened. it still is loved by a lot of people.

zoom zoom, zoomy zoomzoom. zoomy zooomzoomzoomerzoom fr fr no cap etc.etc.

C64 music was often written completely independent from games and developers just used what tracks they had on hand at the time.

false. many musicians were working in-house or remotely knowing what their work was being used in and also being told what to do.

      This. Carmack invented computer games

He was probably talking about the IBM PC. The PC is still dogshit for computer games, only that powerful graphics cards have been developed for it that do all the graphics work (even PCs without graphics cards have integrated graphics chips because the PC itself can't do it).

The game is fine. It's a bit like Mario on ice.

Not much. I mean, I can ignore a thread in the catalog. What bothers me is when I see a good topic, and then the interior of the thread is useless. The thread might be a pile of useless memes, or you might have that one person in the thread that acts personally offended that anyone in the thread would be discussing the subject instead of having discussed it elsewhere at length before visiting that one pristine special threat.

Anyone know whats up with the new game? I got it free on steam but never downloaded it because it looks soulless

      There's like three new games.
I liked the one that came on DS (and was later ported to PC) since it was still 2D and characters were kinda cute and well animated.

Explains why the music is so aggressive compared to mario and the artwork features a porn lady holding a dildo.

That's just early computer programmers being bad at their job. There's absolutely no shortage of early C64, Atari etc games that just feature exactly one song that plays endlessly throughout the entire runtime of the game, title screen included. Miyamoto mogged everyone.

The hame had like three or four different tunes. Did you even play the game?

I don't think Great Gianna Sisters was really "despised" or anything. Nintendo just got pissy about it and filed a lawsuit.
It's one of the best games on the C64 with a fantastic soundtrack to boot. The DS revisit it got years later was also very good.
