The greatest genre of all time has a Steam fedtival right now. What other cardsloppa and deckbuilder-adjacent vidya do you recommend?

I've played:
>Slay the Spire
>Monster Train
>Wildfrost
>Balatro
>Inscryption
>Cultist Simulator
>Slice and Dice
>Peglin
And these are basically the most well-known ones. What niche shit is there, Ganker?

Speaking of, is their new game any good? Solium Infernum, it's actually a remake of a game that wasn't theirs.

If I wanted lazy, predatory game design with fake gameplay, I'd just go to a fricking casino.
All these card/dice/etc based roguelites are a cope on the developers' end for not being able to design a well-balanced, finely-crafted game.
They shirk that failure upon the players' shoulders. If they're moronic, which most people in this thread are, players are tricked into thinking that any of their successes or failures were a result of their own skill rather than the game's inherently flawed design.
These same morons then come here to Ganker to talk about how these are "thinking man's games" or "big-brained." In that case, I implore you to play slot machines for a while and let me know how intellectual you think those are, because you'd clearly blame yourself rather than the house when you win or lose.
This recent proliferation of luck-driven roguelites represents a broad unwillingness in the industry to put in any shred of effort required to develop games with deep, skill-challenging mechanics that truly respect a player's time and abilities.
These games err on the side of slot machine moreso than video game. They're designed to keep you grinding, chasing that elusive "perfect" random seed rather than deriving satisfaction from skill expression and mastery of well-designed mechanics.
You are not players - you are victims. Victims of lazy game design. Victims of bad devs chasing trends and wearing them ragged until there is no more actual fun to be had.
Frick roguelites, frick anyone who likes them, and above all, frick (You) for being too stupid to know you're being had.

      >players are tricked into thinking that any of their successes or failures were a result of their own skill rather than the game's inherently flawed design.
damn, when I paired two shitty card effects together and it did nothing, it was the dev's fault and not mine

      thanks, anon!

I usually don't care for these games, but that one really did it for me.

Wouldn't surprise me if PM isn't even aware of this random sale but it could also be they don't want to make it significantly cheaper than the Switch JP dub version coming out next month.

Wait Ruina is a card game?

Yes it's a card game, but it's very different in what constitutes "deck building." It's more like a card battler RPG with deck drafting.
How you split hairs over the difference between deckbuilding and deck drafting is down to how and when you get cards. You technically build a deck when playing MTG or Yugioh but you're doing that as an entirely separate setup step in preparation for playing a game whereas in Slay the Spire, Dune Imperium, Clank, or Heart of Crown you are building the deck during the same play session and upon starting a new session you also start with the same blank deck that you did before.
LoR is great though, the battle mechanics are fantastic once you get out of the tutorial and see all of the mechanics open themselves up and you get your shit kicked in for not reading what cards and passives do.

play Touhou: Lost Branch of Legend
its slay the spire but less balanced (easier) and more fun
also the modifier to draft 10 packs for your starting deck so you don't have to go through the motions of early game is so enjoyable

Inscription is actually 3 different interpretations of a Card Game Vidya bolted together for Daniel Mullens metafrickery reasons. The first of the three is the favorite by a long ways (and also the only part featured in the advertisement), which is why the later added endless mode is based on it.

    tainted grail is pretty neat
banger soundtrack, cool aesthetics, classes feel different from each other, lets you build some absolutely broken shit without nerfing you or taking away the fun
despite being finished it still kinda has that early access feeling to it however
endless modes are cool but it could use a little more base content
voice work is surprisingly decent but i still wish it wasn't there, and the writing can't escape being smarmy/self aware in places

but frick me the actual game part is fun, blood mage for life

Despite being a massive card game autist for decades I never actually played a "deck builder".
What do they differ from a tcg and which one is the "best" with the highest quality that I can jump into to experience the gente?

      >Deckbulider
A game where creating your deck happens during the game, pulling for a large included stock of carss
      >TCG
A game where creating your deck happens before the game, pulling from Sold Seprately booster packs.
The favorite in terms of vidya is Slay the Spire, which was also the first Roguelite Deckbulider as far as anyone knows. In terms of /tg/, dominions was the originator

iirc the first roguelike deckbuilder was dream quest, which i also recall slay the spire's devs mentioned taking inspiration from. sts was definitely the first SUCCESSFUL example of the genre and what spawned a gorillion clones though

TCG is something like Hearthstone or Artishat (lmao)
Deckbuilder Rgouelike, like namesake, revolves around unique runs where llayers build decks on the spot which then get reset in a new run

also nowhere prophet is similar to griftlands an interesting campaign ,but once you finish it you get burned out since the card play is not as catchy
