IMO, Halloween Town is one of the weaker worlds in KH1:
>world is literally a straight line >only one permanent save point >the Red Trinity was missable until the Remasters patched it >Most of the world is backtracking between the lab and the cemetery
Monstro has SOUL and also isn’t too confusing once you figure out the navigation gimmick. It’s also the shortest world in the game, so it doesn’t outstay its welcome.
Most of the Disney worlds are weak in KH1 tbqh, Wonderland and Neverland are the two standouts for me
Hollow Bastion is probably the best overall world
definitely remembering my favorites being hollow bastion and neverland >tfw will never again get the chance to fly around big ben to this kino playing in the backround

Hmm yeah, shame it only really plays in the clock tower. Would have been absolute kino playing around inside of it

>tfw one room that’s used for a cutscene, some optional rewards and an optional superboss is more soulful than some entire AAA games being released nowadays
There’s something so magical and whimsical about the Clock Tower that’s hard to put my finger on. Even as an adult, it doesn’t lose its effect.

Yeah I agree there anon, very crazy. Nomura definitely has some good taste every now and then
A bunch of KH1’s worlds were weak >Trying to meet up with Donald and Goofy in the first Traverse Town visit >Deep Jungle >The first half of Agrabah
Still a good game though
It’s not the fact that you have to find them it’s the indirect way the game has you do it
I spent hours going back and forth in the level as a kid, maybe I was moronic
You only need to either kill 5 Heartless or trigger all the Donald and Goofy scenes, and then talk to Cid again. Once Heartless appear in the First District, you know you’ve done it right.
He makes a good point about how indirect meeting up with them was, rather than meeting up with them organically or being coral'ed into meeting with them. On the other hand though it'd be really hard to meet up with them directly

I feel differently. I think KH1 is one of the only times in the series the Disney worlds ever went above mediocrity. I like that each world had its own sense of personality and its own unique gimmicks. They weren’t just combat areas with a Disney skin like the world from 2 onwards were.
to meet up with Donald and Goofy in the first Traverse Town visit
This part was good. One of KH1’s biggest strengths was how it let you explore freely and figure shit out yourself. >Deep Jungle
It’s “meh”, but not terrible. The Sabor and Clayton fights were really fun. >The first half of Agrabah
I liked exploring the city. The worst part of Agrabah is the Tiger Head fight. In fact, I think the Tiger Head is the worst boss in the game by far.

At least the Keyblade you get is really good.
Climbing the manor was fun, but I think I prefer Christmas town in 2
Climbing the Manor was fun, but the fight against the living manor can be nightmarish unless you’re appropriately prepared for it.
I felt Christmas Town was a let down in 2. It was only like 3 rooms, and the only really memorable part about it is the present wrapping minigame.
A big christmas town like KH3 olympus would be so incredibly kino for a revisit
manor's the best part but thats it. not as weak as monstro (in spite of the nice riku battle), but its a weak one.

i just remember not liking it as a kid, im playing the games again recently with the pc collections so it may get a redemption arc in my mind.
It still takes a bit but it's neat. It's no Hollow Bastion though (Absolute Kino, Peak world design, etc) but it's a fast one

Good, thanks for the reminder KHfriend
I can't remember any music from that game
