Pretty much all the negative reviews I've seen are about performance rather than the game itself. And most of the performance issues seem exclusive to people running it in VR.
It was ok. The story wasn't very interesting and the ghost lady who constantly talks to you is annoying. I liked Obduction more despite some of the tedious puzzles.
I want to play the game but it's buggy to the point of being unfinished. Encountered major bugs within a minute of booting the game up so I refunded it immediately. I'll pick it up on sale way later if they ever get around to patching it.
It's not exactly like this, but imagine a slide puzzle where the pieces also rotated. Now imagine if rotating one of the pieces put you through 2 decently long loading screens. And also you have to go down an elevator just to get to the first loading screen. And also you can swap out one of the pieces for a different one, and that also needs a loading screen. And the puzzle itself isn't easy, even without the tedium it's a convoluted puzzle. THAT'S the maze puzzle in Obduction. Fucking ridiculous. Even if you follow a guide and don't bother with actually trying to solve it, it takes fucking forever for no good reason.
Rotate pieces of a maze, to create a maze that actually has a path.
In order to perform any rotation you have to go though a loading screen to another world, rotate to correct position and go back through a loading screen.
You do this for every piece, and there are multiple maze exits you'll want to reach, each requiring a different configuration .
The maze puzzle is so fucking awful but the number puzzle where they patched out the only thing that made the puzzle make any sense at all is the worst puzzle in the game.
It's not hard it's just fucking retarded. It's a puzzle that involves walking back and forth going through loading screens over and over and over again. Now imagine doing that shit in VR where you're standing up the whole time and you have to physically pull the fucking lever repeatedly and very, very slowly.
apparently their new game is 200 times worse, lmao. AI WRITTEN STORY, a ton of bugs that break puzzles, puzzles use trial and error rather than logic and it's 4h long.
Cyan is officially a thing of the past. I seriously hope nobody funds their new game so they get a mercy kill.
>Apparently
I'm playing it and it's fine. I've only run into one bug (shadows become extremely stark if I set the effects settings to below high) and I'm enjoying it so far. Not a backer and I only found out about the games existence a month or so ago.
Also I'm just gonna call bullshit on your claim of AI written story. Unless Cyan were extremely ahead of the curve on AI and somehow got an ai that could write a whole story back when this game was still being written.
the anon who posted the webm is not me, the poster you replied to. I didn't play it. It's not a hate boner but after creating 2 bad games in a row it's time to stop soiling the legacy. I did get disappointed immensly with obduction which I bought full price, so I knew I shouldn't bother with firmament unless the reviews were good and guess what.
The maze is fine. I played this after they did the patch that made the loading less awful though.
It's the number system puzzle that sucked for me. I dropped this game without finishing it at some point but I can't quite remember where. I think I had figured out what happened but I didn't care enough to fix it.
So what is a good exploration puzzle game similar to We Were Here series but for singleplayer?
And/or, is Manifold Garden good?
I already played The Witness and Talos principle.
they just released their new game Firmament but it's at a Mixed rating, shame

Huge number of bugs on both VR and PC

if you played it early, you only had to put up with the frenchie for the first 5 minutes.
I want to play the game but it's buggy to the point of being unfinished. Encountered major bugs within a minute of booting the game up so I refunded it immediately. I'll pick it up on sale way later if they ever get around to patching it.
A puzzle game with an hard puzzle?
You haven't played this game and you don't know how dogshit, poorly thought out, and absurdly tedious this puzzle is.
Can you roughly describe it? I am kinda curious

That does sound like absolute shit
it's officially called the gauntlet

you only need 2 configurations, the third one is accessible with rotations alone.

how do you get this dogshit when you made MYST of all things, the series that defined the genre

Who are these people that have a weird hate boner for Cyan? You haven't even played the game and you're this mad about it.
>You haven't even played the game and you're this mad about it.
So you've played it, but you still need to be told that it's "apparently" dogshit?

you seem to be under the misapprehension that myst was good.
Filtered lol
I'm waiting for Myst on PSVR2. I'll try Firmament down the line.

missed the fuckin /vg/
>obduction
>from the creators of myst
This might be the least soulful thing I've ever seen.
Try and do that licence plate puzzle if you aren't American (or possibly Canadian). Its literally impossible.
are you literally retarded?

I already played The Witness and Talos principle.
>is Manifold Garden good?
No. It's an art project.
>similar to We Were Here series but for singleplayer?
