Looks like Nier Automata + Bloodborne
Looks like Drakengard 3 + Sekiro
Runs like Drakengard 3 as well.
Good one.
Unfortunately. I kind of wanted to enjoy this game, given its underused setting and cute/uncanny robot protagonist.
Looks like shit + vomit
Looks a lot more interesting than lies of piss, that's for sure
>lies of piss
Are you 10? Chirst,anon
lies of peepee poopoo XDDD
If they'd just made her cute/hot the game would have been good
This. You'd think they'd have learnt from Returnal that no one wants to play as an ugly woman.
she is both cute and hot
i dont like that she grunts while attacking
I'm indifferent that she grunts while attacking
The ternarity of man.
Neither do I, what do automatons need to grunt for?
i like that she grunts while attacking
Can't cancel out of any animations, which wouldn't be a problem if enemies reacted to getting hit but they don't.
Literally have to mash R1/Right Bumper to chain hits or it drops your combo
Game runs like ABSOLUTE ASS once you leave the tutorial
Find out later it's made by Spiders
Man, Greedfall was super jank but fun. This though, is absolute trash.
Just play Surge 2
>play surge 2
opinion discarded
>talking shit about the surge
you were born in a prison, homosexual
surge 1 is much better than 2
>surge 1 is much better than 2
aesthetically, yes
mechanically, no
God, just how fricking horrible is Steel Rising to make somebody suggest the Sludge.
Souls was a mistake. They are mediocre to play even at their best. Why do these talentless Eurofricks keep trying to mimic them.
Deck13(Surge), The polacks behind Lords of Fallen and Surge, Spiders. At least be imaginitive if you're going to be shit
Maybe, somehow, Amerigays can make one better than euros
Now that I think about it, why is only Eurogays making Souls-shit? That only American Souls game I can think of is Remnants From the Ashes.

Was semi-hyped, but this turned out to be a big disappointment
Souls games are pretty good at, uh, being Souls games so how come all these clones fail at this?
Japs are just built different
Heavy focus on the wrong things.
Don't need fancy graphics and 800 hours of dialogue in a soulslike.
PS1 de-make of Bloodborne is a perfect example of focusing on what makes these games good.
>PS1 de-make of Bloodborne
it was made by a troony btw
trannies are great at stealing people's idea, hence why they're emudevs.
that makes no sense moron
care to explain, troon?
So what's the next soulslike to be disappointed by?
New Lords of The Fallen?
Elden Ring DLC
probably that pinnochio thing
>made by soulless Kimchoids
>even more soulless setting
>god awful ESL title
No amount of cute boy robots will save that shit
Evil West
Fromsoftware and their moronic brainwash scheme of i-frame roll spam as the center of gameplay has done nothing but devastate the video game industry. The greatest part of these "souls-like" is always the parts that have nothing to do with homosexualy ass rollspam fromsoft shit. Just make a real video game.
Cope and seethe
Elden Ring is the best game since Nier Automata and will be hailed as a masterpiece for the next 2 decades
ER will likely be this generations OoT.
Fingers crossed for DLCs

What the frick? Is their A team working on Greedfall 2? Why does this feel like a game from a decade ago
>mogs your shit game
Why doesn't he look like a puppet
Because I guaranteebyou there will be a whole hamfisted dilemma about whether or not he should be considered a real boy
not even out yet. We'll see
Nice shitty rendered hair. I love how these multi million companies can't even focus on the real development of the game.

I am not expecting 2Bs or something.
shes too normal but to weird. like shes a human with a robo jaw
I think it's good so far. Going full agility was a good idea since the stun meter fills up so fast I kill bosses in 30 seconds now, which honestly makes the game kinda too easy. I'm also going for the non-heal flask achievement but I heal on parry now so I don't even have to carry the HoT potions on me anymore
Paris is such kino
i'm only at the factory but im liking the environments so far, at least visually. the setting really carries this game it seems like
Robussy...
She actually looks alright here, how much can you customise her?
you pick from a few faces and wigs at the start, it's mostly lighting that mskes the difference though
>you pick from a few faces and wigs at the start
Damn, wonder why they went with the ugliest ones for all the promo material.
nice textures on clothes
Is it weird that I can tell that was made by Spiders based entirely on how the face looks? I can't put my finger on why exactly but pretty much all of their characters going back to at least Biund By Flame kind of look like that.
Self-lubricating ball joints?
They should've advertised it during gamescom or similar shows, it's flying under the radar when in my opinion it's better than crap like thymesia
shame they used a fork of snoys phyre engine(built for the dogshit ps3 cell cpu) runs like crap for a lot of people
Here is the question: was there any good "souls-like" game at all?
All I can remember is just mediocrity or completely bad things.
Nioh
Code Vein
Steelrising
Thymesia
Hellpoint
>Hellpoint
Pic related
It's jank, but it's really fricking cool jank.
surge 2 is excellent. Only reason I didn't finish it was because I was that burned out on souls gameplay.
Replaying it now and it's even better than I remember.
One thing I noticed is that it and the prequel are more or less the only two major "lighthearted" Soulslikes out there which make them stand out quite a lot for me besides the SF setting.
There is lots of silly shit in them like the DLCs, calling one of the main bosses Fallout2-style, hanging out in night clubs and around bongo players, the "THE END IS NEAR!"-sign dude who later changes to ""TOLD YOU SO!", some soldier petting one of the small nanite monsters and much more.
Also, the game seems to not bullshit you.
No extreme shitboxes, no "lol, I grabbed you from three meters away while you were behind me" garbage moments and the camera zooms out during larger enemies and you can go even further by increasing the fov.
Love me souls.
'ate every clone. simple as.
But really, none of the clones capture what I love about the From's games, and it's just some magic touch they have. I don't think DS2 is very fun in any way but I played it for like 200 hours when it originally released because it was the newest one and clones weren't a thing. But going back I can't be fricked to play it after trying and disliking games like Nioh 1 and 2, Code Vein (I pre-ordered this one before it got delayed too, SUCH a disappointing fricking game), Mortal Shell, Thymessia.
And it's not the gameplay that draws me to From's games, it's the way they feel, the environments, the From token features like Patches and shit.
I went and played Armored Core, starting with the first one earlier this year and that series is amazing, and I can still see the Souls DNA in it with how the customization works, the storytelling, the characters.
They just have this touch, and everyone is so hell bent on trying to clone them, they just miss the mark completely.
I guess what draws me to their games is they are GAMES first and foremost, with gameplay and player action and reaction being the core focus beyond anything else. The few other games that I can think of that have this same focus are Left 4 Dead and Resident Evil 4.
This is mostly gonna depended on what you’re looking for. The real big AAA studios haven’t tried to tackle Souls because they’re too busy having their teams make the next CoD or 2K game. So that’s why so many AA/indie studios are taking a crack at it.
Code Vein was a solid attempt but it’s environments are really bland and the character designs are super anime.
Lords of Fallen was ridiculed by the Souls base for being worst than DS2
Thymesia is more like Sekiro but since no one here played it they just assume it’s another roll spam game
Steelrising has great ideas like the overheat system but the game is janky so the fluidity of genre doesn’t carry over as well
Nioh is probably the best attempt but even then it’s a game that has more mechanics happening and that might be a turn off to some people
After playing through Nioh 1 and 2, I honestly can't say that it plays like Souls at all. It feels more like a typical action game from the PS2 era than it does DaS, even post-BB DaS.
>Thymesia is more like Sekiro but since no one here played it they just assume it’s another roll spam game
The game was surprisingly competent. The best feeling movement/combat out of the bunch. Plus you can Sekiro cling clang vs enemies, bosses especially. Doesn't outstay it's welcome either. Pleasantly surprised all around.
>so the fluidity of genre doesn’t carry over as well
What the frick are you on about?
With regards to Thymesia all they really needed to do was to look super closely at the reasons why the Sekiro deflect works so well and copy it 100%. If you hit a perfect deflect you know instantly, it feels great, the enemy responds, your character responds, the hit spark, the audio, the animations changing depending on what attack is coming in.
Thymesia cheaped out on almost all of that so hitting deflects never really feels great to do because aside from the debuff the enemies get from it next to nothing shown the player. You do the same knife animation, the enemies don't respond, no confirmation hit spark or audio line.
The World building was actually pretty great, and for an indie game it actually looks pretty nice in areas, the plague motifs were completely wasted IMO. The Plague Doctor mask/Crow ideas never really led to anything.
Nioh, and you can hardly call it "Souls-like", it's basically an easier Ninja Gaiden with loot and classes.
Niohs are better than actual Souls mechanics-wise
Surge 1 and 2 were solid
Jedi Fallen Order was good
You either have shit memory or havent played much
Nioh is god tier. 2 is even better. In fact, I prefer Nioh over Souls games.
The only reason I even play Souls games is because of Invading.
The Surge 2 is okay. It's a little janky, but fun.
Hellpoint is fun, but again, janky.
Haven't played Fallen Order. But everyone says it's extremely solid.
It is fricking depressing no one has mentioned pic related yet, despite it being a genuinely good souls like which did its own thing, and had a ton to discover if you wanted to do more than just the story beats.
I wonder if its because the cover looks like absolute shit and does not reflect the story or gameplay in any form?
I remember seeing people being mad about the final boss in this being bad.
I've started playing it recently, its alright but the repetitive levels and enemies are really off putting. ALso the fact its semi random generated means exploration is pointless since theres nothing good to find, and all meaningful loot will be in some predesigned location/chest after a boss
Shooting is fun tho in Remnant
It's sp jank. Most robotic MC ever.

Monseigneur...
I like that they keep the french with translation notes in the subtitles, wonder why japanese games can't do that.
kinda weird that they don't have full french v/o though, must be a budget thing i guess
Yep, tres vrai.
They should have their actors only speak sentences made of "baguette", "fromage" and "oui" and have the subtitles pretend they're translating actual French.
Butthurt muttoid detected.
Now I will summon the german are turks dude.
>implying anyone who makes fun of the French is 'murican

Serious the japs must learn how the french do it.
Frick Anglais and frick muttoids.
Everything-must-be-localized is cultural imperalism.
huh?
The slow weapons feel dogshit. For some reason light weapons have more "interrupt" stat than heavy ones.
pretty much this. I discovered it after choosing heavy weapons to go full robussy tank on some enemies, but was getting hit after every heavy attack.
Because of the stun meters.
This game favors dex build.
Yee, I get that. It's just weird is all.
0 points in dex
9 alch
9 eng
4 pow
4 end
stomping enemies with my frozen batons and shotgun in the face.
has anyone found some decent alch weapons other than ice element?
got this heavy wheel with fire but don´t want to use that since it´s more power focused
same applies for thunder claws and dex instead of pow.
Do you mean other muskets? Then no, I haven't found em.
I use discus chain and it has range, knockback and stagger, pretty gud/10
I honestly thought that Pinochico game was that one.
Colour me surprised when I realised they weren't the same.
How bad is Soulstice? I don't think I've seen a single thread about the demo so it must be pretty shit
if you're into the guts but a girl thing it's very alright, combat felt smooth enough and i had fun with the demo, but not enough to be like 'oh yeah i gotta pick this up'. reminded me of an old gow or another game like that
will probably be a good game to pick up on a sale
Isnt that just a button masher like DMC? They put "souls" in the name as bait?
It's not a souls-like at all, it's a DMC-like. Really good too based on the demo, aside from the shitty voice acting.
Pretty fun actually, voice acting is not great but the combat is there, you just need upgrades to really get going.
keep suporting games that have one strategy of playing games (puss button hysterical) and that is the next gen game you will play, no story, no character, no hero that define you
hello sir good morning what did sony pay you for this post
sir. I don't like japanese games or first person shooter or driving cars games. I'm into puzzle games with characters
The best weapon is the Frankstin Claw, fast attack, huge stun lock and electricitiy.
>game made by french people
>game set in france
>everyone speaks english with an english accent
There's a bunch of french going around, it's not like japanese games where everyone speak perfect English.
Oh yeah sorry they occasionally just throw in a french word, my mistake.
It's literally exactly like japanese games where they speak english but throw out an honorific now and then
Nowadays they don't even throw in honorifics anymore because everything must be translated to English or some weird shit.
I can't wait until samurai or katana become knight/sabre.
>Nowadays they don't even throw in honorifics anymore
Good. Just play it with the japanese audio track if you want to hear japanese, dumbass.
At least the japanese aren't cucked enough to have only english voice acting for games set in Japan
I'm glad there are some jap games with literally no Eng dub now and I hope they can go forward with that, frick English and frick localization cucks.
It's not a big studio. So if they paid for French actors, the whole world will complain that they don't speak frog. When you only have enough money for one set of voiceline, you take english.
So what? Just imagine they're speaking french and it's being magically translated for your convenience.
I could do that if they also didn't randomly say french words
The reason for this is that most Americans think French accents sound hilarious or annoying so they're bending the knee to our tastes.
What?
>asian/geisha face Aegis is the most popular chosen face despite not being default
WTF HUWAITO BROS?
>Queen of England dies
>Steel Rising comes out the same day
I want to believe
Thymesia was floaty garbage with enemies that did respond to being smacked in the face and main character that felt completely disconnected from the World.
Everything I've seen about Steelrising even though I was looking forward to it somewhat looks exactly the same. Why is it so hard to just copy From? The Surge had the same issue with ice skating characters animation sliding towards you.
Anyone please tell me wtf is wrong, the game arbitrarily decides not to show the Y prompt in order to cool off my stamina overheat. Sometimes it's instant and the prompt appears, some other time it doesn't and I'm stuck waiting for 5 seconds without being able to do anything else. Does the prompt show up depending on the last action that depletes stamina? This is driving me crazy and got me killed a bunch of times already.
From my experience if you push Y too early it does that
Is it not if you deplete the meter completely it makes you over heat for 5 seconds or whatever. Like being put into a fatigue state.
I don't think so, unless the tutorial pop up is wrong
that might be it, maybe I'm pressing Y too early? Though I really doubt this is my fault when I'm not even near the Y button and I await until the prompt shows up? I'll experiment more later
wait, it's 3d? shit, the fricking promos in the email gog sent made me think this was a 2d game.
Why are the devs such massive pussies refusing to make anything difficult?
>Steelrising
Idk, I've killed like 6 bosses and havent died once. So far my only deaths in this game was once when I jumped into the water after it turned out part of level geometry is not actual geometry
The challenge really isnt there so far at all, this is like babysouls for actual morons and journalists. Jedi Fallen Order was way more difficult than this, and it was still very easy
Hopefully this picks up since im really kinda bored
having it slowly dawn on you that a game demands nothing from you is the worst fricking feeling
Was playing the Gloomwood early access thing and by the time I breezed through the second area without even trying I was just like "... frick" It's like you're sliding right off it
Did they redesign the game a lot from the demo or something? The demo at least required me to think to get through it.
The areas from the demo aren't in the early access. It goes Fishery, Cave and then like an outdoors forest-y sort of area.
The main problem was that the very open nature of the areas meant you had as much space as you could ever possibly need so you always had somewhere to escape to when you were at risk of being spotted. The areas in the demo were much tighter by comparison
I'm just hoping it gets much harder when you get to the town because yeah the wide open plains areas kind of sucked
>hurr I only died X times, it's not as shit as dark souls
What
Why is her movements so janky? Couldn't they at least make the walk fluid?
watched a bit of it and it looked boring as frick

Does vulkan wrapper work with it?
Frick dx12 holy shit.
>do QTE to regain stamina
what a moronic mechanic
Nioh would give you an aneurysm.
the art direction is shit
your character looks like shit
Has there ever been a third party souls clone that wasn't complete jank?
Depends on how you're defining jank.
Code Vein was polished, so not jank, but not as good as it could've been with a world laid out like DaS3 and largely bland environments dragging down the solid combat and good build variety.
Hellpoint is very jank with awkward animations and combat, but it's the only Souls clone I'm aware of* that has a great sense of atmosphere and exploration in a huge non-linear setting. Basically it's the only one that got right the thing that was actually most interesting about DaS.
*Salt & Sanctuary also had good exploration, but being 2D separates it a bit.
>Code Vein was polished, so not jank
CV is jank as frick moron
I meant mostly for the combat/general control feel. I played Code Vein ages ago but I remember it feeling rather floaty and weightless especially with the larger weapons.
I dropped it because enemies just don't react to getting hit by a giant weapon and the weapons feel like made out of foam, magic is also utter shit, the game is unpolished jank.
>magic is also utter shit
Only a person who was tremendously bad at the game would say that magic in CV was bad.
Magic was fun as frick in Code Vein. It was easily the most enjoyable part of the combat in fact.
Lunacid is a clone of King's Field and it owns
>Dude, what if we add popular things and uuuhhhh....give me more weeeed bro
how come theres like 30 games each year that try their best to replicate souls formula and not a single one even comes close? even in terms of combat, its always either floaty and imprecise, where you dont feel the weight of a strike or clunky and super slow. You would think that it would be the easiest part to copy
good gamefeel requires the dev to play games
>where you dont feel the weight of a strike
you feel it too much in half these fricking games
>replicate souls formula and not a single one even comes close? even in terms of combat, its always either floaty and imprecise, where you dont feel the weight of a strike or clunky and super slow
we should star calling them elden ring like
Someone should do a comparison video of a single sword combo between all the souls and soulslike games. None of them except for Nioh feels good to swing a sword and I dont know why.
From has been making 3D action games and sprawling rpgs for as long as consoles had 3D.
steelrising actually feels good to play. fast is fast, and slow hits fricking hard with good clank feedback. the thing that sucks is enemy variety and typical AA shitty dev optimization and bugs. also marketing was shit so no one even knows the game exist compared to Lies of P.
the reason souls is good is because
A. its AAA, and
B. the world design and enemy variety (excluding elden ring) is crazy good, along with the bosses. people take for granted these things, yet these copycat devs struggle to do that every time.
and souls has this...classic fantasy feel to it. like dungeons and dragons almost. all these copycats are always doing some weird stylized shit, like mortal shell or this game, or code vein, lies of P, etc. gimme a game like dragons dogma with standard goblins, elves, etc but with souls combat and world design and sign me the frick up.
>its AAA
Maybe starting with Bloodborne.
Game looks like they took the existence 'eurojank' games to mean 'we get a free pass for not even trying'
CV is made of copy and paste as early as the swamp area, had the greatsword (the slow power weapon) specials be faster than all the speed weapons (what were they thinking), enemies would just ignore hitstun when they felt like it (making all slow actions, which were ironically on the fast weapons, not worth using), incredibly boring progression and powers and was a game where you play as 'not-vampirs' who remove the need to care about blood 5 mins in.
It was poorly polished, balanced and written set in a half-ass world that resulted from far too much CTRL+V.
The Surge/2 tie game-changing passives (like ripostes being free) into gear sets. So if you like free ripostes, for example, changing any gear at all makes the game less fun. Changing gear is how progression works in those games. They're RPG's that actively make you not want to progress. What the frick were they thinking?
DarkSouls 3 just uses maggot men, maggot dog or 'a group of 3 to 5 11 foot tall dudes who run at you at once and rapidly attack' with the occasional 'got you!' 1 shot kill from cieling humpers, over and over again, it has basically functionally no enemy variety at all, the magic system is a step down and the world is just 'lol remember darksouls'.
Salt and Sanc has digustingly poor balance; simply casting defensive buffs and face-tanking things with a great sword, magic or scizzors trivialize all but 3 fights in the game, 2 of which are nearly immune to slash (so you just use magic or a mace) and one of which is so overtuned you die in 1 hit even though other bosses barely hurt you.
Salt and Sanc 2 is 1 but progression is worse, the maps suck, the enemies are more annoying and its even uglier somehow (how the frick do you get uglier than salt and sanc 1 goddamn)
cry about it
What an absolute brainlet take
>No argument
I accept concession seething anime chud
Elded Ring you get to some point when your stupid anime super powers are too strong for 99% of the enemies to matter at all and then you just stop playing the game because is too long and too open and too easy and even the social aspect isn't worth caring about anymore.
Nioh's balance is fricked; all human enemies can't deal with Tonfa at all, all demon enemies can't deal with long-ranged weapons at all, nothing can deal with confusion, there's no enemy variety, people will defend it by saying "okay if you beat this trivially easy game then play 500 hours more you can fight maybe 1 boss that's a threat if you don't use the broken gear you got at this point or just confuse it or stun lock it just go easy on the game okay stop being good at easy games"
Nioh 2 is Nioh 1 but the protag is a moronic self-insert now and it remembers it has more than 3 enemy types, but you're even more overpowered than 1 and now your tonfa can confuse people for free consistently.
No Souls clone has been good, ever.
>No Souls clone has been good, ever.
souls games are shit by default, when an incompetent dev copies them, you end up with something even worse.
Wrong.
Darksouls was good, 2 was better.

played a few hours. It is okay at best. Wost points:
>camera feels really clunky, even for a soulsgame
>it is wayyyyy too easy, even without journalist mode
>enemies even more repetetive and predictable than fodder in The Surge
>Story is so bland that I got bored reading even 2 paragraph texts that you find on the way
I will still probably finish it because I am a sucker for soulslikes, even play that weebshit Code Vein even though it sucked even more.
Game is decent
only thing that sucks is you can't check what stats fricking do
Steampunk is inherently boring.

I've come to the thread looking for webms, yet this is the first thing to pique my interest. War Logs and Bound by Flame were good fun.
>Spiders
I'm puzzled by how they manage to stay afloat despite releasing a streak of garbage games.
Really low budgets. Greedfall had their biggest budget at 5 million.
