    What happened?

Devs are crooks that stole assets

I dont think it was assets, it was code, wasn't it? what i heard was that they developed some code under contract for a company, the company didnt want to make the game, all the devs quit and made their own game with the same code, which was owned by the company

      >work for company
      >sign contract that says what you create on company time is property of the company
      >realize your idea that you made on company time is really good
      >decide to take it for yourself as it is make you millions good
      >move your work from work computers to a server in your home and begin shopping for investors
      >convince others working on your idea at original company to jump ship so you can be millionaires instead of wagies
      >company sees this exfiltration of data
      >company investigates, builds a case and then fucks you with the long arm of the law
Really too bad. The game wouldn't have worked under the company, but they had signed the idea away to the company by coming up with it at work while being paid to come up with game ideas.

This sounded like a neat idea, but the game itself looked fucking terrible.

    thank god
honestly was the most mid fotm garbage
i don’t think ive played a game that’s had anywhere near as many shitty design choices as dark and darker

You've never touched it. You just made that up because you're bored.

The only reason you cared for it was it being an
    >our niche thing
The day it would've released to any remote success, you'd drop it in a blink of an eye claiming it was shit all along.

Of course dark and darker was shit. It was terribly made, felt like and asset flip and was full of absolutely retarded balancing.

    But it was fun.

Why would you care about this shit? It's just a flavour of the month. Remember how Tarkov was fun for about a week and then it was infested with hack users and metagaming gays who hatchet-ran and knew every item spawn? You think that shit isn't exactly where Dark and Darker was headed? One month after release it would be absolutely no fun.

How is that at all comparable to a co-op CRPG?

You're asking how Tarkov and its problems is comparable to Dark and Darker?

That's a stupid question and you are stupid.

Yes, I'm asking because as far as I know it's just an online shooter riddled with cheaters and a collapsing community market. I don't have all the time in the world to play every video game, so you'll have to forgive me for not playing yet another online rooty tooty point and shooty. What's compatible here, you fucking gay?

NTA but Tarkov is an "extraction looter shooter" just like DnD is an "extraction looter dungeon crawler". You jump into an area, loot it, fight some bots, fights some players, extract. If you die you lose everything you had.

At least you don't have to worry about being headshot instantly. Stealth in Dark and Darker is generally less impactful than Tarkov across the board.

Tarkov invented, or at least popularized the PvPvE, loot & extract gameplay which makes up the nascent extraction shooter genre, of which Dark and Darker is a melee-focused variant.

              >PvPvE
Ah, I see. Thanks for clearing that up. I was genuinely under the impression it was just a four-player co-op game. Saved me a purchase.

        >melee-focused variant.
        traditional fantasy focused
plenty of projectiles (arrows, throwing knives/axes, spells)

Don't even try it. Ganker is beyond redemption. They will consooooom like the twitch zoomers they are. Half a year ago Ganker was full of Multiverse threads. Recently Hogfarts and Atomic Farts that died down almost instantly after 1 week of the release.

Flavor of the month is a positive, not a negative.
Everyone picking up and experimenting with something new and interesting cannot possibly be construed as a bad thing unless you just fucking hate videogames.
