It costs $499 and when compared to a computer in regards to hardware power, it's in top 2% most powerful PCs used by Steam users according to HW Survey.
Also – no online DRM for physical games, great backward compatibility, Game Pass, XCloud Streaming.
Aren’t physical games basically glorified install keys now or is this misinformation? If Xbox is good for physical ownership still I’ll get one but I’ve been unsure about this
Literally untrue.
Microsoft requires a playable version of the game to be included on the disc and it caused a shitstorm among publishers when it came out that Microsoft themselves don't give a shit and released Flight Simulator and Halo Infinite incomplete. They changed their review process now so that games that are "live services" don't need to be contained in its entirety on the disc.
>They changed their review process now so that games that are "live services" don't need to be contained in its entirety on the disc.
Can't wait for Ubisoft to call every new single player game they release a live service now, lol.
You own the physical games and they work without internet.
Series X/S games – 100% offline
Cross-gen games – Xbox One version usually comes on the disc and you can play that one, otherwise you must download the next-gen version
Xbox One games – 100% offline
Xbox 360 games – one time download of an emulator is required, but afterwards all further games are 100% offline
if it even comes with a disc in the box, it usually only covers a percentage of the install and the rest is downloaded
This is not true.
There's only one game that didn't come in its entirety on the disc and it's Halo Infinite.
Yes, physical games are now 100% DRM-free as long as you have the disc
I'm guessing this is because Microsoft is betting on making most of their money on services and game pass any way so there's no reason for them to make life harder for physical game owners
Not only that, but emulation is not only available on both the One and Series X, but doesn't require dev mode - Retail mode works just fine. I'm not the anon that posted, but I like to let people know about it as an emulation machine, because it's surprisingly competent at that. Even PS2 and Gamecube run nicely (on a game by game basis and on the Series X only, some games have weird bugs or framerate, mostly a PS2 thing. Xbox One can do up to PSP and Dreamcast with few issues).
>great backward compatibility
So it can play any PC game and emulate anything up to a PS3/Wii U/Switch?
Because that's the backwards compatibility I, as a PC gamer have come to expect.
Can you elaborate?
PC is very rarely considered a platform of choice for game development because it's a hard market to make money off. Hence why most PC-exclusive titles are choke full of microtransactions, you can't make money on PC just from sales. PC gaming market is mostly subsidized by console market.

It has problems emulating multiple PS2 games moron, can't emulate shadow of the colossus decently, it can't emulate wiiU, switch etc while a modern entry PC can, just give up, four generation of failures
I’m actually an idort, but I prefer to collect physically for other platforms, because the Xbox feels very “temporary”.

said, you can’t buy the Series X version of crossgen games on disc, because the disc only have the lowest console version of the game. There was also that service outage a few months ago that showed that Xbox Live doesn’t have to be down for more than a day before nobody can play any games at all. I enjoy the Xbox now, but fully expect that I don’t “own” any software on it at all. It’ll be a pretty good emulation box, once it’s out of service and hacked wide open.
The Switch and Evercade is where it’s at, when it comes to collecting, currently.
Not really man, check the flippers discord servers and redd*t communities. They have hard time getting PS5 off their hand, especially the digital version.
Funny thing is , if the deck did actually kill the switch then the deck would be obsolete too as running switch games at 5fps is the only thing the deck is used for.
If FF7 remake series was on the Xbox I'd 100% buy the Series X instead of the PS5 but it isnt so I'm forced to buy PS5 as I see no reason to own both consoles.
Been playing everything multiplat on XSX this gen because it's so much cheaper to buy Argentinian/Turkish keys online
Also going to buy pic related on Xbox
The only issue I have is games like RE and DMC freak out when playing at 120Hz with wired headphones
Yeah they do and they've worked for years. Just use a VPN on the redeem page on Microsoft's website and use the code, usually end up buying brand new AAA games for around £30-40, and older games for just a few pounds (bought DMC HD collection for around 70p)
CDKeys is more expensive and generally has only UK/USA codes, I usually use Gamivo and Eneba and they usually advertise discount codes on their website (if not, try HOTUKDEALS on Eneba)
No worries lad, happy to shill them because I like to save money like a good israelite.
I've read about this method but never took advantage of it because in the back of my head I can't help but think eventually they'll do blanket revocations on these "buy a key from some third world country and use a VPN to redeem it" tricks.

Another Xbox shill thread that will die because of low engagement kek, last place forever xtards, garbage low hype games, obsolete console, just get a pc
>Is there any reason for me to buy an X?
No unless you want to play the same games you can play on your pc but with worse graphics and fps
Consoles are for poorgays who can't afford a good pc or normies who just want to play the latest football game.
I have more money than I can spend and funnily enough, the only other thing I use my money is on prostitutes.
Don't play on PC and always had all the consoles.
I just can't understand why anybody would bother with consoles today when you can just play the same game on ultra with 60+ fps on a good pc. Owning a console made sense 10 years ago when there were must play exclusive games on them and games were poorly optimized on pc but today pretty much all games come to pc eventually and you don't see huge frick ups like gta iv anymore
Goypass saves me cash and having the ability to emulate up to the Wii is a really nice fricking addon. It’s how I finally played and beat OoT for the first time. Of course nintendies would rather I pay $50 a year for it but I don’t want to.
As usual if you want to play everything you'll eventually need all the hardware. I usually use the Xbox just because so few new games interest me and I like the backwards compatibility. Best version of Ninja Gaiden and 2, best version of Red Dead Redemption. Another big plus for me is the controller. I don't have a PS5 because it has no games, but eventually there'll be another Bloodborne or Demon's Souls and I'll end up getting one. Switch got a ton of use with MHGU but nothing recent as I don't like this new style of Zelda or Mario. All that is to say: become idort.
Why?

For those curious, this was a recent thing Microsoft finally fixed. Here's the video detailing it.
Modern games still suck since a goof majority release broken/unpolished and require patches, but you can own the media, is what's important.

Most PC games are just ports of console games, anon, so yes, it can usually play them.
>emulate anything up to a PS3/Wii U/Switch?
Yes.
It can also emulate Windows 95, Windows 98 and MS DOS.
>Most PC games are just ports of console games
Imagine actually believing that.
Console usage is a mental illness.
Can you elaborate?

wait till the exclusives start dropping, snoygays btfo.
SeX+Switch has been a tight combo for me.
those are all the consoles you need

Once it becomes the only console where Activision Blizzard and Bethesda games are available, it's unironically over for nu-playstation.
No console has mattered since the PS2.
>generations
consolegay still doesnt get what matters.
Xbox wins again
>Goybox Series X
>Goypass
If I wanted to rent my games, I’d go to Blockbuster
Are you a pirate or do you choose to pay fat money to rent them from Gaben instead?

Why does the only system that matters have the worse sales figure?
>He thinks it's actually humans and not bots buying PS5 to never resell it at a higher price because nobody's buying
People don't buy things they can't flip. People are selling PS5s for $1000 because people are paying $1000 for PS5s.

Do keys from other regions work on Xbox? Very rare that I buy games so if I can get them for dirt cheap this box will save me even more money.
Yes, never had a problem.
I've read about this method but never took advantage of it because in the back of my head I can't help but think eventually they'll do blanket revocations on these "buy a key from some third world country and use a VPN to redeem it" tricks.

Yeah, just got Resident Evil 4,5 and 6 for less than 3 bucks.
My brother has one and this shit is huge. Revision when?
What? It's half of the size of PS5
And that shit is huge too.

Always funny when actual shills who don't know how to blend in post here. Not buying your overpriced GPU, by the way.
I've been looking at this. I have switch and a reasonable gaming PC.

The best literally because it's the closest a console has ever come to just being a PC. Thing even fricking looks like a PC
