The game itself looks incredibly mediocre and basic, even if there were 0 bugs. Because there doesn't need to be standards for games that only children play.

When are you people going to learn that the games are THE ADVERTISEMENT NOT THE PRODUCT. The games ADVERTISE the merch.

Also, Roppongi Hills is the most luxurious place to own store or office space in, and is the most in demand. The rent there is absolutely absurd

Fricking this. No one’s going to play this game for more than ten hours anyway. We’ll buy it, look at the cute girls, then put it down next week. Why put more budget in a game that no one really cares about? Besides, at least it’s not Cyberpunk 2077.

I know you joke about it a lot, but GF literally is a small indie company that barely gets any of the money TPCI makes. Chalk it up to extreme mismanagement and obsession with side projects but it is what it is.

The one real consistent shittiness to the series has been GF's complete and utter incompetence in programming. Despite that, they were still capable of making really good games, and mainline Pokemon had remained consistently good for years up until gen VI. I think something about XY's development just broke them as a company, because the game came out blatantly unfinished, and after that point they just stopped trying to deliver in terms of game content. ORAS had the same problem, missing content that was expected from an RSE remake(remember that HGSS incorporated elements from Crystal as well as Platinum, so the excuse that it's not a remake of Emerald doesn't fly when we have an example of better from the same company), and then SM had even more signs of rushed and unfinished content... and it's gotten progressively worse.

I was a gen I kid growing up, and like many I had a drop off in interest after GS. But you know what pulled me back in? Gen IV. Because Platinum and HGSS were releasing at a time when video games were becoming more and more gated by paywalls, and here was Pokemon offering hundreds of hours of content for one $40 pricetag. Now they're asking $60, plus likely more for DLC, for content that doesn't even stack up to what was in vanilla releases literally twenty years ago. And that doesn't even get into the problems GF has with the user experience, going out of their way to tailor it to a very specific experience and spiting any other playstyles.

Pokemon's programming was always trash, but the content used to be really good.

ORAS didn't have a game to simply effortlessly ctrl+v a postgame though

Sure it did, it had Emerald. The original Battle Frontier, which they could have even expanded on a little if they felt like it. But instead, we got the Battle Maison copypasted from XY, which sticks out like a sore thumb in Hoenn, despite SIMPLE FRICKING CHARACTER CUSTOMIZATION being left out of the game entirely due to "being a Kalos thing" according to GF. Like that makes any sense.

It's no coincidence that the same man responsible for directing ORAS is also the same man who directed SM, SWSH, and SV.

            >Sure it did, it had Emerald.
No it didn't, you fricking moron, that was 3 fricking gens earlier on a different handheld. HGSS literally COPYPASTED the frontier from Platinum, from a year before. And then you complain it about doing the same thing with XY?
How fricking dumb are you jesus christ.

Well, for starters I thought you were talking about the whole of Kanto considering that's already a pretty decent chunk of postgame. But fine, you want to talk about why copypasting the Battle Frontier from Platinum was acceptable, while the Battle Maison was not?

For starters, GS didn't have anything like it to make its own from. Crystal DID have the Battle Tower, but it was a very different beast from what became standard in later entries. We could have just gotten gen IV's Battle Tower: Johto Edition, and that honestly would have been acceptable, but instead they went all the way and gave us the whole Battle Frontier from Sinnoh. And it worked. It worked because they went out of their way to make a place for it, and they went to greater lengths to make connections between Johto and Sinnoh through events not even RELATED to the Battle Frontier. HGSS was that game that just added on more and more that no one had any expectations of seeing, just because they could.

Meanwhile, the Battle Maison was less a case of "let's do it because we can" and more "let's do it because we can't be fricked to do any better." Because unlike GS, RS actually DID have a modern Battle Tower, and they could have given us that with the Maison's formats, and even reused some major npcs as Tower Tycoons, instead of copypasting the Maison wholesale. Copypasting a french style mansion, staffed by french style NPCs, right in the middle of a region based off of mother fricking kyushu, and then in the same game omit one of the gen's best new features on the grounds that it didn't fit with the region. Bull, fricking, shit. They even made an exterior Battle Tower model just to remind everyone that the Battle Frontier was a thing, but that we wouldn't see in this remake, because they couldn't be fricked to go any further than that.

              have a nice day.
