>at least 9 different origin stories and several playable races >13+ hours of unique party banter >Characters can leave your party if they disagree with your moral choices and ideals >Huge amount of choices within the story to be made
This should have been the greatest PC game of all time, instead it's incredibly shallow and all of this feels like window dressing with a world that doesn't feel like going on a huge adventure but instead revisiting the same exact areas over and over with a different coat of paint.
It made me want a short story anthology RPG. The little snippets of intro played one after another (I tried them all first) was more enjoyable than the entire game.
You're forced to slog through the rift during the Circle of Magi segment. You get some perma stat boosts, but it's boring as frick in general and overstays it's welcome.
Anyway, DAO had some of the best and most coherent world-building and lore presentations in any video game. Everything about the different concepts and factions in the world connect and there's very little superfluous and disconnected lore-dumps, most everything you learn or read about, you get to experience in some form in the game itself.
What the frick is the point of initiating new gray wardens if there hasn't been an arch demon around for hundreds of years?
Why are mages even allowed to exist when they're so susceptible to possession?
Why is blood magic bad?
>Am I the only one who liked the fade section?
I don't care for the Fade's glossy effect it gives you but playing the actual sections is fine for me. I memorize everything to the point where I know which areas to tackle and backtrack to without missing anything.
I think i got like 1/3 of the way into DAI and my brain finally woke up and asked what i was doing. I think that was a couple hours after i had the troony discussion that came out of nowhere
BG for sure. Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 are absolute classics. if you have the EE just make sure you run the mod that removes the EE exclusive companions because they're shit OCs by beamdog.
You don't necessarily need to bother with the series, you can just play DAO and the expansion. DA2 is bad, and while there's some good characters and quests in DAI, there's also a whole bunch of crap like the mobile stuff, and playing the game largely feels like being alone on an MMO server.

here you go moron(s):
1. Burning Tower to obtain the "burning man" form. (return later)
2. Mages Asunder, to recieve the Golem form, then you can finish that.
3. Obtain Spirit form from darkspawn invasion, then finish that.
4. Return to burning tower to finish that.
5. Finish templars nightmare.
6. Finish dark fade.

You can't have depth in a 3D roleplaying game
then what's the 3rd D for, dumbass?
>This should have been the greatest PC game of all time
It is, regardless of what you think
so great it has a terrible section that modders had to remove
you mean the rift?
yes it's tedious but the "morphing into different ghosts" shit was KINDA fun
the fade*
lol
it's late
yes I meant the fade
my bad I plays Dragon's Dogma before this
>Rift segment
are you referring to the nightmares or something?
i played this shit in 2010 so i don't remember
You're forced to slog through the rift during the Circle of Magi segment. You get some perma stat boosts, but it's boring as frick in general and overstays it's welcome.
yeah i remember that
there was a glitch where if you paused the game and spammed right click it would register multiple stat boosts at once
I use the skip the fade mod
Am I the only one who liked the fade section?

hopefully
What the frick is the point of initiating new gray wardens if there hasn't been an arch demon around for hundreds of years?
Why are mages even allowed to exist when they're so susceptible to possession?
Why is blood magic bad?
it's just a slog
glad there's a mod to remove it from subsequent playthroughhs

Playing DA3 right now and these respawning enemies are a pisstake. Seriously can't go 5 fricking seconds without another respawned mob waltzin in.
>playing CISquisition
A friend told me they're all good and I wanted something to distract myself with until Trails from Zero came out.
I regret taking his advice, so far DA1 is the only good one.
Your friend pranked you hard.
I wouldn't recommend DAI or other modern Bioware games like MEA to my worst enemies, what the frick kind of friend do you have?
We're usually on the same wavelength for what we find shit or good. This is just one of those exceptions.
I think i got like 1/3 of the way into DAI and my brain finally woke up and asked what i was doing. I think that was a couple hours after i had the troony discussion that came out of nowhere
Shame Varric and Cassandra had to be stuck there.
rpg experts, should I play the dragon age or baldur's gate series? I've got them both on my backlog
BG for sure. Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 are absolute classics. if you have the EE just make sure you run the mod that removes the EE exclusive companions because they're shit OCs by beamdog.
thanks friends.

The Fade and the Mage Tower in general is so boring. I've seen a lot of people complain about the Deep Roads, but I've always liked them
>decide to replay
>go to Redcliffe first
>tfw u dead wave without Winne
holy fricking shit that was rough
only Sten and Morrigan survived
I just remember christmas break playing through the dwarf starting zone on a cold winter day. Very comfy
I fricking hate all the characters are smug & know that they are in a video game.
Can I romance the GILF?
>tell character to attack bad
>either just stands there or gets stuck on terrain and gives up
christ the pathfinding and AI is shit
Jade Empire was the last time BioWare gave a frick.

What's so hard to understand?

what were they thinking
fricking why
