>the seamless menu transitions
>the satisfying, bubbly "click" when you select a menu option
>the load times that take no time at all
>dynamic battle camera
>no ingame lag, no shadowing problems, no warping terrain
>cute chibi art and not that weird half-realistic direction they went with in S/V, actually charming npcs still loved to this day like Hex Maniac, not to mention the official art being used in battle transitions
>a full and complete pokedex
>a bustling, charming, and simple online system in PSS
And yet you STILL hated the gen. Here we are almost a decade later with an arguably worse performance. Why did you hate X/Y? You focused so hard on the "negatives" you forgot the great things it offered. Things you so callously took for granted and now we suffer.

it didn’t match my fanfic so the game is unfinished
now excuse me while I jerk off over platinum’s empty church and unreachable mansion room and unused azure flute
Ya MALDIN hard
>a Kalosgay proves you can make a pro-XY thread without trashing another gen
>the autist comes in seething at a DS game anyway
Sad.
>a Kalosgay proves you can make a pro-XY thread without trashing another gen
They are very unambiguously trashing S/V
>trashing S/V
Saying S/V is "half-realistic" instead of chibi is not trashing it.
>no ingame lag, no shadowing problems, no warping terrain
>cute chibi art and not that weird half-realistic direction they went with in S/V, actually charming NPCs
>a full and complete pokedex
How are these not direct criticisms of S/V?
>>a Kalosgay proves you can make a pro-XY thread without trashing another gen
>and not that weird half-realistic direction they went with in S/V,
So are you a Hispanic or something?
Because this is shitting on SV pretty clearly.
sinnohfetuses BTFO'd
Man it's been weeks and months, and you're STILL pissed lmaoooo
What's wrong with any of those? I don't get it.
I think the argument that anon is trying to make is that people shit on Kalos because it has unused content (Floette) and inaccessible areas (power plant) and such and that people don't realize the older games had stuff like that. in anon's eyes, Kalos is getting unfairly shat on and I guess he thinks people criticizing it for that are hypocrites because they'll praise games that also have those flaws
People shit on kalos because the game goes from full if life to an empty unfinished rush of a game after the second gym. The last 80% of the game is a boss rush through some of the most boring areas and dungeons in the series.
>The last 80% of the game is a boss rush through some of the most boring areas and dungeons in the series.
As opposed to gen 5 where 100% of the game is a boss rush through some of the most boring areas and dungeons in the series.
lmao, this. Whining about the "boss rush" aspect of XY and then turning around and wiener sucking previous gens makes no sense.
>1st gym
>route 3
>already at 2nd gym
>pinwheel forest
>already at 3rd gym
>route 4
>already at 4th gym
>bridge
>already at 5th gym
>a single route and an easy cave
>already at 6th gym
? No, your thinking of gen 6. Reread my other post, i think you are either confused or low iq. Either way it should help you understand no matter how simple minded you are
The 3d models were ugly as sins la
I used to love to run through the pokemon in my boxes in the summary. Now I cant even do that, they dont load in quickly enough...
>And yet you STILL hated the gen
Nobody XY during its release. People were expecting Z.
After that we had Oras which was such a dissapointing remake it kinda shit on gen6 as a whole.
ORAS was great though? people get hung up on the battle frontier shit, they forget the QoL and performance upgrades from X/Y
Oras wasnt great. Didnt being over any Emerald features. The beauty contest got dumped down to absolute shitters. And you get offered legendaries as freebies left and right. Not to mention the Delta episode was boring as shit.
All superfluous technical details.
No one actually gives a shit about loading, technical issues and UI shit unless it's obnoxiously bad.
The game simply had no Soul in it's design.
Most bland and forgettable region in the series.
>muh soul
>no ingame lag
Did you just never play the game? The battles lagged like shit.
>And yet you STILL hated the gen
Yeah because it was shit.
>no ingame lag
The battles ran at like 15 fps with 3D turned on
With 3d off it ran at 15fps.
i hate the menu sounds in this game and sm i preferred the gen 4 and 5 ones
I know these kind of threads are meant to bait people into shitting at the respective gen, but if there is one thing I can say I liked about Kalos it was the returning pokemon the chose, a lot of the coolest mons of previous gens are back, also I think is the only gen where you can catch almost every previous Pseudo, except for Metagross, I think
All these things are the bare minimum they don't suddenly save the game from it's flaws just because recent gens have been worse.
That said, XY aren't too bad, they just leave a bad taste in my mouth because they play into aspects of the series that I don't like
>it didn’t match my fanfic so the game is unfinished
>now excuse me while I jerk off over platinum’s empty church and unreachable mansion room and unused azure flute
/qa/ lost
The only thing i hate about XY is Team Flare, every single goddamned time they showed up i wanted to quit playing.
>the seamless menu transitions
>the satisfying, bubbly "click" when you select a menu option
>the load times that take no time at all
Trying to lift up such a trash tier game on the lowest bar across the board... Every game pre console era has had good menu load and transitions. (cannot confirm SWSH due to principles of not owning from lies)
>cute chibi art and not that weird half-realistic direction they went with in S/V, actually charming NPCs still loved to this day like Hex Maniac, not to mention the official art being used in battle transitions
ah yes, the thing that ORAS and BDSP were shit on for... how interesting...
>a full and complete pokedex
Technically you could have every pokemon in S/M minus having the pokedex to show it... but just stating facts.
>a bustling, charming, and simple online system in PSS
The only thing gen 6 got right
>load times
The loading before a wild encounter was notoriously bad. Anyone have that webm?
What?
I play on emulator and the encounters are the one part of the game that's consitently fluid.

you forgot
>ability to fully EV train a pokemon as soon as you add it to your team
>amazing credits
>the boring pokemon designs
>the linear corridor maps
>the soulless empty region
>the move to furgay starters
>the terribly handled move to 3d
>the overbearing friend group that started the handholding tradition of the last few games
>the terrible gen3 remake that triggered some1 so much they made a 7hr youtube video about it
literally only good thing was megas that was it otherwise the worst gen so far
>the boring pokemon designs
>the linear corridor maps
>the soulless empty region
>the move to furgay starters
>the terribly handled move to 3d
>the overbearing friend group that started the handholding tradition of the last few games
but enough about gen 5
I did like those 3d games black and white
yeah, me too
even gen 9 has 2d menus u spastic
Name one pokemon game that doesn't have a linear route
every game has some linear routes, But nothing to the level as XY, maybe swish but that at least made up with the wild area and much better graphics
>But nothing to the level as XY
true
I guarantee if this map was in gen 5, unova fans would be constantly wiener slurping it as a masterclass of route design and one of the best routes in the series
? We like gen 5 because its good. That area in x/y sucks just like every area in that rushed mess of a game. Theres a reason why gamefreak never bothered to make a 3rd version or sequal to x/y
>? We like gen 5 because its good
What about it is good?
Every single part. The music, graphics, story, pokemon designs, characters, world designs, route design, dungeon design, etc... ahhh, gen 5 was truly the pinnacle of the series...
oh wow one map how impressive
very tasteful 3d from bw indeed
So between X and Y... which should I choose?
>Y have the cromosome I have; Has Tyranitar, Kabutops, Heracross and Dragalge (Y has more exclusive pokemon)
>But X have a cool Legendary that its Fairy; And has Armaldo, Aggron, and Clawitzer; And have a cooler Charizard Mega Form.
What did you anons who played Kalos choose the first time?
I always arrange with one other person who will get the game which versions we will play, so that we both get to complete our pokedex.
I got X and my friend got Y.
It brought us Megaevolution. multiple reasons to hate this mechanic but here's my top three.
>Pokemon is not Digimon, temporarily evolving due to a stone/crystal is classic digimon
>started the trend of giving us a dumbass gimmick every generation; Mega, Z-move, Dynamax, and now Teracrystals. What a mess.
>started the trend of giving certain pokemon in game benefits from their gamefreak favorite status instead just marketing benefit
Honestly, I think Tera is acceptable because any Pokemon can make use of it instead of just the ones GF wants to shill.
Tera is the least offensive in that way, also it doesn't take up an item slot so its better than z-moves in that way.
however. Its still gonna be gone next generation.
Any pokemon that finds a niche because of lel tricky tera type is gonna be back in the box next gen.
Unfortunately. I wish GF would just stick to one gimmick and expand upon it instead of throwing out the whole thing in subsequent generations.
kalos is asscheeks
>cute chibi art
hot take I like the realism more
>realism
Which pokemon game has realistic art?
the game is disgusting to look at.
S/V has a PC that takes 4-6 SECONDS to load one box.
ORAS loaded in about 2 or 3 seconds.
How do you defend this?
because open world gays are mental and they'll praise scatvomit for the sole reason that it let's you skip gyms
>actually charming NPCs still loved to this day like Hex Maniac
She's the only one. Nobody remembers any of the other NPCs/characters from that entire game.
I love how half of this is about fricking menus, like that's the thing to be concerned about lmao
>another XY cope thread
I will continue to hate the game as long as it makes (You) personally upset.
I was 22 when x and y came out. I'm glad I still have my copy of pokemon y version.
>no ingame lag
I always thought the XY copers was a meme until I read this. It really is bad when the best things you can say about it are fricking UI elements
At the time, it was held in high regard for being the first mainline 3d Pokémon game, and I don’t think that’s necessarily a strength of the game. Yes, they are 3d, but a lot of life is lost in that transition; colors are washed out and ugly, a lot of the charming animations are gone, and some models completely changes the feel of certain Pokémon, like Typhlosion or Excadrill. It’s not that they’re inherently bad, but the Gen 5 games did more with less, and the 3d games don’t really use the 3d to their advantage.
The story and characters are also not very engaging, and while that isn’t the most important thing in a Pokémon game, X and Y feel even more shallow in this department than any of the earlier games. The story is more or less inconsequential, and none of the characters really stand out. The rivals are probably the easiest example of the poor characterization, but even characters like Lysandre and Diantha are not really fleshed out and feel more like blank canvases for the writers to sprinkle archetypes onto, if even that.
The Looker quests were ok. They weren't awful, they weren't great. Looker's a cool character, but he just wasn't in XY until that point. The Team Flare stuff was mildly interesting, but Team Flare as a whole just wasn't developed well in the main game so it didn't carry much weight. There were some cool characters and themes in the quests, but the poor pacing, lack of proper development and just lack of connection to the main story made them just ok.
The rest of the post-game was just lacking. There was battling, but there is battling in every post-game. The battle facility wasn't good compared to the older titles. There weren't really any new areas to explore (a small city and a couple of legendries), there weren't many new Pokemon to catch, there wasn't really a good post-game plot. There just wasn't anything worthwhile in the post-game or anything that stands out, which I guess fits XY pretty well.
X/Y still is the black sheep just because of how inconsistent it is.
ok but ORAS fixed a lot of XY's flaws
its just battle frontier is the most blatant setback
