I factory reset the device, hence the boot screen.
I knew that image would trigger you, too easy.
good point
This shitposting is pathetic. You were filtered.

here, have a pity (You)
Wrong board
tendie seethe thread? tendie seethe thread.

Color me surprised. op

>Hardware faliure from idiots who misused the device
>Only marginally larger than it's competitor, the Switch. Meanwhile you can take it around the house and play anywhere.
>Ignores that it plays majority of modern games at 720p decently when settings are adjusted (usually automatically)
>Ignores that it's the perfect emulation device that will only get better
>More versatile than any other handheld, and EVERY modern console.
>A perfect companion to a gaming PC. Your saves and games are now portable, and can be more conveniently hooked to your TV, therefore effectively replacing dogturds like the Series X and PS5.
>Ignores that the shitposting surrounding the device are largely schizophrenic morons
Colour me surprised
Like
pointed out, I thought they were just shitposting, I didn't expect it to actually be shit.
100% correct, ARM architecture is far superior for mobile devices
the deck will get better with each new iteration but the current model sucks ass
>Last I heard there's literally thousands of Valve verified games that can run perfectly without any tweaking
besides shovelware and a few valve titles, the game running with fans on 100% with barely readable text is not what I would call optimised.
In addition to this, the tech demo they put out, aperture desk job also has the fans spin up to a very loud volume during the game. They can't even optimise their own tech demo
>100% correct, ARM architecture is far superior for mobile devices
Not in the case of the Switch's ARM hardware, its performance per watt is worse than the Steam Deck's x86 chip.
to be fair, the switch hardware is pretty old.
to be clear my op wasn't about emulation, I have a pc and emulate everything I can. I have no doubt the deck and a decent PC will run switch games better than the switch after some time.
>to be fair, the switch hardware is pretty old.
True. Interestingly, Nvidia also doesn't have any current ARM chips that can outperform AMD's x86 ones in PPW, which is probably why the Switch 2 is taking so long.
>the game running with fans on 100% with barely readable text is not what I would call optimised
what game
Verified or unsupported, everything I've tried runs great. Only modern/unoptimized AAA run with the fan at an audible RPM at all.
ah yes found the visual novel/rpg maker gay
this was elden ring, dark souls, session (skate sim), among others.
Dark Souls PTDE runs at like 11W, so no fan noise and nearly 4 hours of battery life. It's like the perfect game for the device so I don't know what you're talking about.
Elden Ring is a modern AAA game, so yeah, it's gonna run at like 20W TDP if you change no settings. After TDP capping, 30fps cap and decreasing lighting and AO, I got it down to 11W in caves and dungeons and 16W in overworld while keeping native res.
never heard of the other game
>20W TDP
total power*
OP doesnt realize it's just a PC and you need to do a little work just so it can run better to his specifications but that's what you get when console gamers first touch a real PC for the first time outside their walled gardens.
Agreed. The Switch is a much better device with better battery life, better display, better ergonomics and better games.
>better ergonomics
ok now you're trying too hard
>cheap plastic build
>loud fans
>heat
>very few games optimised
>weird control layout
>wifi is shit
Anon, this is just how handhelds are in general, including the Nintendo Switch.
This. Otherwise you'd be spending over $1k on the thing, which could just break if you drop it.
based vita has no fans
I am a fan of the vita
>I'm flipping it
you're late to that party by a few months
steam got owned in the handheld war, should've stuck with just being a publisher
>should've stuck with just being a publisher
Valve was never a publisher, zoom-zoom.
zoomers are apparently smarter than shills apparently
Great, so you wont mind mailing me your unit and case, right
>cheap plastic build
feels nice to me
>loud fans
only if you have the old fan or are running the old fan profile
>heat
learn to use the FPS cap, TDP controls, or GPU controls and this is really only for modern triple A shit
>very few games optimized
Last I heard there's literally thousands of Valve verified games that can run perfectly without any tweaking
>weird control layout
Good thing you can make one yourself or download one someone else has made
>wifi is shit
Mine only goes out when I try docking it for some weird reason but I think that has to do with how the Deck communicates with older routers or something
Anyway nintendo sucks
>Last I heard there's literally thousands of Valve verified games that can run perfectly without any tweaking
>thousands of rpgmaker shovelware run perfectly
That's interesting but anon was talking about games.
So yeah, that Anon you're responding to is still correct. A frickton of modern AAA games do run well when you've adjusted the settings.
>only if you have the old fan or are running the old fan profile
It will be loud no matter what when playing more demanding games. Not like other devices are different.
Apparently some of the Black folk that zoomers love listening to are giving the Deck free advertising. Expect Nintendo to be dead next gen
I don't think anyone cares about the Witcher 3 on switch
UHHH NINTENDO SOMEONE CALL THE COPS?!
>The performance is the same or barely better
Impressive!
i just slapped in smash ult with all dlc and it fricking works on deck 60fps.
deck is literally going to play botw 2 day 1.
this is kinda fricked up
why don't you give it to me if you hate it so much
selling it for profit. If you're based in Aus I will sell it to you for what I paid for it though?
When it comes to hardware I've always been doubtful of valve, yes the index was pretty good, but I've never forgotten about the abortion that was... the steam box
*wait I forgot it was called the steam machine not the steam box, muh bad
the steam box lead to the steamlink, steam controller, steam OS, and the steam deck.
>steam controller
Ahh yes, this thing. Just as that weird artifact gay keeps on talking about his shit card game, the steam box/machine/whatever is always in the back of my mind. What a missed opportunity.
Linux gaming wasn't where it was today back then
Steam controller was absolute ass and will be until the second revision which makes it more like the deck
Yeah, I really still don't get why though? I guess they really wanted to make something unique, it did come out in the wake of the Wii when consoles seemed to focus on gimmicks more than performance. Just goes to show that different isn't always better.
ENTER
Don't really care about bing bing wahoos but might pick it up or something else I can pocket for DOS gaming later to complement the Deck.
shut up and consoom
its fine
now show your penis
k bye
you mean the company that makes shitty pc controllers made a shitty portable as well?
shockimg
>very few games optimised
I'm having 0 problems with most games, only had a problem (sadly) with Wayfarer 2. Maybe you wanted a walled garden where the developer sits down with (You)r trans ass and holds your hand to a steady perfectly paced 30fps and not a Linux machine that needs GE-Proton from ProtonUpQt to run Fall Guys at 60fps max settings btw.
