>the weapon thats been carrying humanity since the Ice Age through every trial and hardship
>has more versatility and practicality than any melee weapon
>always plays second fiddle to generic swords or axes
>always deals underwhelming damage and never has any dedicated work towards it
I’m sick of broadswords, longswords, greathammers, greatswords and especially katanas. Give me more spears.

>>>>>has more versatility and practicality than any melee weapon
the moment you make a spear versatile it stops being a spear.
a true spearfag should enjoy his pokes
the spear swipes in from games are so silly
why not both?
they also neutered the lucerne in every game after ds1, giving it a generic halberd moveset
Lucerne is at its peak versatility in ER
>Dashing / backstep thrust
>Standing overheads
you could say that about any weapon with the weapon art nonsense. its base moveset is lacking and it doesn't have anything cool about it like leo counters and dead angles
Pokes-only can be very entertaining
>Overhand poke
>Underhand poke
>Full body lunge
>Half-body upwards thrust
>Backstepping thrust
>Handle-shortened stabs
6 moves and not a single swipe or slash involved.
yeah that's what I mean
A good spear with the same length as the user's height functions perfectly as a quarterstaff. Swinging, striking and using the shaft for leverage is a fundamental part of individual spear combat outside of formations and tunnel fighting.
One is not a true spearfag if they aren't swinging that shit around when it's possible. Only stabs/thrusts is retarded.
>muh reach and timing
it's the shoto of melee weapons, insomuch that it is a melee weapon when you're just poking someone from a meter away
>Knight class
>Doesn't use spears
I am disgusted
that's jousting spear not a true weapon but a sport implement
retard
Actual war lances have a longer counter weight no handguard and a steel point
>Full plate
>Using a gun
Heresy!
>spears
not my favourite but I fucking love polearms
The core problem is that generally there are no weaponfags on the dev teams so that's why you always get swords as the best thing available.
Theyre one of the most weapons in wo long though.
those are arrows
>broadswords
What games have broadswords? Those are even more rare than spears
Shield and spear is literally easy mode in dark souls 1.
Spear in Chiv 2 is retardedly broken. Literally baby weapon mode if you want to top the scoreboard.
Was more or less functionally identical to other weapons in the very early crpg/wizardry days, so they went mostly for swords which are more "regal" or "chosen one" material
Then, on the jump to 3d spears would never work (without a fuckton of clipping that is) as well as shorter weapons in the claustrophobic maze environments allowed by the hardware
This inertia has carried over to the current day since modern devs were kids swinging swords in this 3d era
Spears are boring because they are meant to be used in formation.
Swords are easily carried when not in use (scabbard) which makes them a more practical weapon for adventuring which is why they're the default weapon for characters in fantasy games.
Polearms are for soldiers. Swords are for travelers.
>breaks your spear in half with one slash from my sword
nothing personnel kid
Kino right here
Glaives>>>>>
>yeah spears are just better man
>long reach
>look at this spear formation, try countering that!
>if you have the best spear army you win
Explain why the romans conquered the greeks spearcucks?
>early roman republic
>maniples system
the fact that they phased that out into gladius legionnaires in their peak roman empire should tell you something.
