I like the Jap games that came immediately after, but they were clearly a huge step down from 8 and it seems like RPGs in general went downhill from there
only way we get a spiritual follow to wiz8 if jagged alliance 3 team works with owlcat or something
8 being the death rattle of the original series might have scared off future devs from following its design philosophy. Also the mediocre balance might have been from how ambitious it was
