No amount of teaching could overcome Arthas' nature as a brat who is quick to rush head first into things.

If he's a brat no one would follow him. Clearly the soldiers thought otherwise. It's mentor's job to guide his pupils and Uther failed spectacularly and doubling so as a retainer.

                >Arthas is royalty and a high ranking officer based on the fact that he's royalty.
The entire dialogue at the start of culling disproves this, or at least shows that he doesn't outrank Uther.
                >Watch your tone with me boy, you may the prince but i'm still your superior as a paladin
Uther literally tells him that strictly speaking, he is Arthas' superior.
When Arthas ordered him to purge Stratholme (yes, he gave an order to a superior officer).
                >Damn it, Uther! As your future king, I order you to purge this city!
Uther told him to frick off, Arthas then pulled the "I'm the prince, therefore i'm your king one day" card.
                >Have I? Lord Uther, by my right of succession and the sovereignty of my crown, I hereby relieve you of your command and suspend your paladins from service.
Arthas argues that because he will be one day the supreme commander, that Uther (and his men) should follow his command, despite being outranked by Uther.

                Anonymous

Being a high ranking officer militarily by virtue of noble blood does not necessarily mean he gets to outrank uther as a paladin within their religious order. Military/government =/= religious knightly order. The king may have supreme command over everything but the prince may still be subject to his seniors in the scope of his duties as a paladin.
He could maybe theoretically give people orders as the heir apparent, but cannot in his position of paladin. There isn't really a conflict there.

All power is theoretical until applied. People there clearly

One problem is that it was never clear how many people were infected in the first place. Another problem is that killing random civilians will just leave more corpses to be turned in to the Undead. In the cutscene after the mission they clearly show survivors burning bodies, meaning not everyone was infected, and Arthas didn't bother burning them to prevent them from being resurrected by necromancers. Also, the zombification only works if they ate the grain in the first place according to the game.

One solution is just to escort as many people out of the city as possible and quarantining the ones they know to be infected. It would have been way easier too, considering Arthas would have the help from the rest of his men, Jaina and her forces, and Uther and his paladins.

                >One solution is just to escort as many people out of the city as possible and quarantining the ones they know to be infected. It would have been way easier too, considering Arthas would have the help from the rest of his men, Jaina and her forces, and Uther and his paladins.
No time, Mal'Ganis had attacked, no means to determine if someone's infected, very high risk of the infected breaking free and attacking your army which is now compromised because they're in quarantine mode instead of combat mode

                Anonymous

Arthas managed to fight off Malganis with his splintered forces AND purged the city. With the help of everyone that left him, specifically Uther and all his paladins, stomping out Malganis would be a cake walk. With that in mind you can easily assign knights, priests, and paladins to escort groups of civilians out. Anyone that starts turning will just be killed on sight.

It also avoids the issue of leaving behind unburned corpses that bolster the undead forces.

Brats aren't willing to sacrifice themselves. Brats don't risk their lives for the sake of others. Brats don't endure long sieges against massive hordes.
Arthas had a lot of problems and flaws, but brattishness wasn't one of them. He didn't think too much of himself, he expected too much of himself, and he inevitably reached a breaking point.

Imagine thinking humanity stood a chance in the first place. Lordaeron was lost to the plague before anyone even knew it. Literally nobody in the entire kingdom could do jack shit about it. I don't know why people blame Arthas so much. At least he tried.

          >I don't know why people blame Arthas so much.
Because he fricked absolutely everything up by refusing to listen to anyone in favor of constantly playing right into the hands of the giant demon that was leading him to getting frostmourne and becoming the avatar of the lich king? He also then PERSONALLY slays the king and, again, hands the kingdom to the Scourge on a silver platter.
Arthas literally did everything wrong and Lordaeron falling is 100% on his stupidity.

The plague of undeath is a highest tier disease that is undispellable. The entirety of the Forsaken toiling for decades could not find a way to undo it, only duplicate the formula or improve on it in some situations. If you get infected with it, it's straight to hell with you after you die, no ifs and buts about it. Out of all the retcons WoW had suffered , that one thing had remained a constant. The plague of undeath was incurable.

Every Arthas apologist has to first pretend there's absolutely no in between with "kill literally everyone in this city" and "lie down and let the scourge devour my wiener and then the entire world."

      Anonymous

There isn't. You either kill them before they turn or you have to deal with an entire city's worth of undead in addition to already existing opposition led by Mal'Ganis and his necromancers. The forces of Lordaeron were already badly outnumbered and they had no way of establishing a meaningful quarantine or exclusion zone that wouldn't be violated by a couple of ghouls and abominations immediately, spreading the plague everywhere further. If anything, that would have the job of the Scourge easier.

      Anonymous

ROC has an absolutely better campaign but FT rounded out the game itself while continuing what it established in a respectable manner.
      >Arthas part Human
simple, but escalates into undeniable Kino
      >Thrall goes to Kalimdor
Quite good. nice feeling of discovery and journey. probably the second best campaign by virtue of being methodic and atmospheric
      >Arthas part Undead; featuring the Burning Legion
metal. ties some gameplay elements of the other 2 campaigns together but places more emphasis on larger scenarios with fewer sub-quests
      >Night Elves
ties all story and gameplay beats together, is incredible. evokes many different feelings and moods while expanding upon everything before it and then some.

      >Maiev and Malfurion / Tyrande: globetrotters
      kino. extremely mysterious too.
      >Kael'Thas, Illidain, the Naga, and the Draenei
Kino, has some slow points though; ignore that this was obviously supposed to be a 5th faction for WC4 what with the united races
      >Sylvanas
just alright. nothing really stands out.
      >Bonus: Thrall part 3
Is good but it makes me feel bad every time
