Do ESLs think "skinner box" is some kind of reference to skinning an animal? It's for the psychologist B.F. Skinner.
>what is wow classic
NOOBS!!!!!!!!!!
no u
>Knows enough to name the psychologist
>Doesn't know enough to name what was in the box
You're no ESL but you've got some reading to catch up on.
lmfao lmfao
>the item dropped
Haha this is where you're wrong
yes, i need those sandals +1 to evasion very badly.
mmos in 2023 personalize your chance just so you can cope harder op
t. thunderfury user in vanilla(rogue)
>his guild doesn't use either lootcouncil or a soft reserve system
Skill issue.
>Guild leader grabs all BIS for himself
Haha yes
It will not happen unless your guild/core is composed by retarded cucks.
Happened to me a few times.
>leave old guild because I'm tired of GM/Officer bullshit
>find a new one
>need to be active and whatever to finally get in raid
>perform decent as tank
>loot drops
>GM or his friends get it first
>bring it up
>get shittalked and laughed at
>we do difficulty above next week
>need to use all my CDs, potions and co to hold on
>RL complains that I'm performing shit
>go back to step one
it's infuriating as a tank to find a new guild and star the process again every time you get bullshit like this.
Especially when there was guild reputation and perks.
shut the fuck up retard
Who asked?
I did
>be in guild since first raid
>make it apparent that I'm the one of 6 people in the guild that doesn't require an adult to put on their underpants
>go out of my way to help officers and eventually get offered officer role
>turn it down but officers keep listening to my advice on loot
>I'm effectively an officer in all but name and have direct control over caster loot
>completely avoid the fallout of anyone complaining about caster loot because I'm not part of the loot council
There hasn't been an MMO like that since the late 00's
>Unsub for a few months
>Average gear level continues to power creep
>Return to a much easier raidnwhere no one needs the item
Ezpz. Poopsockers are retarded.
Why waste all day being the first when I can let everyone else do the heavy lifting?
>missing out on the ahead of the curve achievements and mounts
>Achivements
Who fucking cares
I do.
Flexing on other players is the entire point of mmos.
I care. Bragging rights, bitch.
Same thing as having a hard to get legendary weapon.
Imagine being such a failure of a person in real life that you need to brag about your online achievements in a dying MMORPG.
>thumbnail
Didn't even read. have a nice day. NOW.
So it seems youre into vulperas then.
When the game shuts down all your fake shit goes away forever. Games are for fun. If you want achievements get off your ass and do something for real.
>Games are for fun.
How is getting carried through raids your guild has had on farm for weeks if not months now fun?
>When the game shuts down all your fake shit goes away forever
I know. Doesn't mean I can't enjoy it and try to aim for those things for the time I care about them for.
>Games are for fun
Yes, doesn't mean I can't go for these hard to get achievements and not have fun as well.
Here's an example, I used to play WoW a lot until about Legion.
I didn't care much for raiding, but I loved collecting Toys and Battle pets.
I kept bragging to my friend about them and every time we played together I kept fucking around with my toy collection, even getting him to accompany me to get some of the harder ones to get.
He gave no shit about it and sometimes even rolled his eyes at me but I still loved every second of it.
I still fondly remember me convincing him to farm that one elite mob that spawns on the same island as the mechanical spiders and him.
And me convincing him to farm the Molten Core raid like 20 times so I could get the Hate spark battle pet only for him to get it, learn it to make me seethe and for him to give it to me like 2 months later.
All those mileheads to get to the 300 and 400 toy and like 600 or 700 unique battle pet achievements that I kept showing him when I got them.
>Games are for fun.
Flexing on baddies who only clear content once it's on farm is fun for me.
That's why I play Albion Online.
>be tank
>success of the raid depends on my ability to generate threat
>get priority on items that help me do my job
better luck next time, melee dps peasants
>be caster
>healer tries to pull this same argument
>on a "on dealing damage, proc damage" trinket
>thankless job where people only notice when you fail AND you’re next to last priority for cool gear only slightly above other people’s alts
I don’t know why the fuck anybody wants to heal. They’re either saints or suckers.
Healers are either DPS who can't make the cut and try to slither in as healers. Or primadonnas who can't handle the responsibility of being a tank but still want to boss everyone around.
Both are awful people. Never be friends with or trust a healer.
>be tank in a high performance guild
>all upgrades go to DPS first
>every fight is a coinflip of whether I crit enough to keep threat, get parried too much and lose threat, or take 2 hits in a row and fucking die
Never again
>high performance guild
>all upgrades go to DPS first
Something doesn't add up here...
Parsemorons.
I started out in the guild's more casual raid, but got bumped up to their main raid later. I still miss the dad raid to this day.
Truer than you can imagine
Your parses don't matter jack, if your tank has to rely on luck to keep the dps from getting smeared, your guild is not high performance.
>Your parses don't matter jack
I sure wish they'd believe that. Imagine calling for a wipe because the raid leader got a "move out of the fire" mechanic first.
Parses really only mean something in 1 instance: when everyone has about the same level of gear.
So that would be week 1 when no one has the new gear and several months in when everyone has maxed gear. Otherwise it's largely determined by your gear, rather than how optimal you play.
The amount of pity tokens you need is still insulting, especially with how long the lockout lasts.
That's fair. It's not ideal
anyone who tryhards raiding in any point in its entire lifespan is literally a shit guild and a waste of time.
the best time I had was in a meme guild in wotlk and in legion. we one shot everything heroic raiding and legion we did mythic 15s like they were nothing.
we were legit good players and didn't care about parsing and all that modern gay shit nerds do now.
its ruined the modern game for a reason.
>wotlk and legion
alright kid times are gay now but it didn't use to be that way
>it didn't use to be that way
on PvP servers, people were generally better players and not mindless, keyboard turning brainlets.
Higher dps makes most fightes much easier and tanks usually dont need much gear to tank if they are decent at their job.
Higher dps = fights end faster, a lot of mechanics get easier and you can even skip mechanics or transition/kill bosses before a problematic overlap of mechanics happen.
Anyone that raids mythic seriously know that.
in any serious guild upgrades always go to DPS first because reducing the time to kill the boss is the single biggest increase to the raid's survivability.
dumb ass. tank is the loot king. you joined a shit guild full of loot whores akin to the worst gay twitch streamer.
this was your guild lmfao
You fell into a guild with a bunch of loot whore gays, not a high performing guild.
>priority loot
>as a tank
How to say you are a casual without saying you are a casual
don't look at the gacha game numbers
The original PSO is nothing but absurd drop rate rares and it's the best game ever made
>PvP
>get the same gear or better gear than Raid scum players
>Bosses can only drop loot once a week.
Skinner actually used pigeons in his operant conditioning experiments.
Pigeons make good pets because they're easy to train, and are also warm and fluffy.
>7%
Lol. Lmao even. This bald moron made good items literally unavailable for the majority of players of his game
Literally who?
The best items in the game should be rare enough to be restricted to a minority of players. They're not special if everyone can get one.
you can restrict it based on solo content, and in fact that can make it MORE restrictive if they properly scale the solo content to be far harder than the group content, since you can't carry someone in solo stuff. MMOs should functionally be the opposite of what they are now, group content should be for easy gearing to reach the baseline for the solo content, then the solo content once you've maxed your gear out on the raidshit should be something only 0.1% of the playerbase can clear for all the cool shit. doing this, it would even mean more because again, you can't carry solo achievements and gear.
Old lava cape functioned like that. Funny how runescape did so many things right, only to majorly fuck up because the original people in charge left.
>the best gear and hardest content in a multiplayer game based around player interaction and group content should be solo content
yeah, no
mmos may not be the right genre for you
correct, I do not play them, but they are designed poorly around relying on others.
The entire point of the genre is group content that requires you to work with other players, how retarded do you have to be to call that "poor design"?
m8 his point is that advancement is intrinsically tied to being able to find a group of apes with just enough brainpower to get through simple mechanics more than it is about your personal skill
>it's hard for me to find a group of competent people to work together
That's not bad design. The explicit design of group content in mmos is that people have to work together to complete it. I understand that you're autistic loners who are incapable of working with a group but that's the entire point of these types of games. Saying that the rarest gear in a explicitly multiplayer game should come from solo content is beyond retarded.
how to spot the person who gets carried lmao
I realize that your experience playing mmos is being in some garbage-tier guild made up entirely of shitters but high level endgame content is very cutthroat and there are a huge array of data parsing addons to make very sure that everyone is pulling their weight. I haven't played mmos in a while but when I did I parsed just fine and so did everyone else in my guild, because that's how you get server/world first clears.
This shit is so weird. It's ok to admit that certain game genres aren't your thing. I absolutely hate RTS games but I don't spend my time whining about how they should be changed to suit me better; I just don't play them.
>content that is designed to force you to carry deadweight players
And once again, there is no room for dead weight in high end competitive raiding. If you can't keep up then you get dropped, simple as. But this is very rarely a problem as people who aren't competitive and competent won't get past the interview process in the first place.
my group cleared turn 5 coil pre-nerf, which only about 25 other groups in the entire world were able to do. even that group had a female we were carrying in it. I think only 3 groups at that phase of XIV were a full group of max tier members, and it showed because they cleared over a week before anyone else. I have been in cutting edge prog groups, and I have been in shitter groups, and unfortunately they were not as different as you are claiming. unless you someone get the stars to align and find an entire group of complete no lifers like yourself you are going to be carrying at least a couple people, and even more unfortunately, the content is DESIGNED to be cleared by a non-optimal group, you can even do carries in ultimates in XIV which should just be completely off the table and only a group of 8 98%+++ers should even have a 1% chance of clearing after a month of 12+ hours a day attempting it. why wait for the stars to align, when you could just get a comparably difficult solo fight where you can progress at your own rate and eventually, ENTIRELY ON YOUR OWN MERITS and not reliant at all on other shitters, clear the hardest content?
>being this tryhard
I imagine the fun people have by playing with you
I tryhard when I'm with my guild, all of whom are equally tryhard. That's how you clear competitive content. Obviously I don't have the same level of expectation when I'm doing casual content with randoms.
>XIV
Sorry, I don't play chud mmos.
>when you could just get a comparably difficult solo fight where you can progress at your own rate and eventually, ENTIRELY ON YOUR OWN MERITS and not reliant at all on other shitters, clear the hardest content?
Because if you're good then anything solo is pathetically easy compared to group content. The only real difficulty in games comes from either cooperative group content, which is by the nature of its design (having to work with/rely on others) more difficult than solo content, or competitive multiplayer content, which has effectively infinite difficulty, limited only by the skill of your opponent. Single player games are complete jokes when it comes to difficulty.
>i deserve a participation trophy!!
No, you really don't. The golden age of mmos (now long past) was when the best gear and content was only experienced by a minority of players because the difficulty was tuned to the point that it was literally impossible for average people to accomplish. You don't like that idea because you're an average person, but don't worry, people like you are now the majority and every game caters to you with endless welfare loot in exchange for simply existing.
>Because if you're good then anything solo is pathetically easy compared to group content.
sounds like a dev team issue, they are too afraid to make actual difficult content because babies want their participation ribbon for "clearing" endgame raids. you can absolutely make solo content that is harder than raid content, but everyone is too casual to try it because even baby shit like malenia takes them dozens of hours to clear.
What I'm telling you is that there's no such thing as difficult solo content unless you get into the realm of artificially difficult shit like extreme platformers or bullet hell games that require you to essentially memorize game patterns to beat them because they're too fast or complicated to be cleared via reflexes alone.
If you want difficult content in a mmo then play pvp content which is as difficult as your opponents are skilled. But expecting a genre specifically built around group content to pander to you with solo content is weird. The devs don't make solo content because people don't come to mmos looking for solo content. Go sit alone and play some single player games; fuck knows there are enough devs shitting out "omg so difficult soulslike" games.
no, I don't expect it to pander to me, in fact I will probably never play this genre again, it's been years and I feel like I've lost literally nothing by giving up on it, there will never be a good MMO.
>Sorry, I don't play chud mmos.
>says while playing a game with chud mode
You're not fooling anyone with that shit. We all know that XIV has long ago been crowned the king of chud erotic roleplay coomer mmos.
>that shit
XIV isn't the game with a chud mode you can cope all you want
trim that timer cut that dick like the speedrun community were you belong
>he's defending the game that literally lets pedophiles play as children
come on anon, you're better than this
It's just one of those Ganker things like "fun is just a buzzword"
>massively multilayer online games should be designed for solo play, ideally offline!!!!
It's a reminder that people here don't really play games or know much about video games, they just want something to be upset about
fun is not a buzzword, I enjoy single player RPGs and solo progression viable online games, and have for over 35 years now. I have tons of fun replaying old JRPGs. I have enough of a content backlog to last the remainder of my life even if another game never comes out, because I enjoy older games so much I replay them many times per decade, I will never run out of content, meanwhile you MMOcucks are stuck on the devcycle treadmill eternally waiting for more content that is designed to force you to carry deadweight players because "everyone has to be a winner".
>person who dislikes MMOs enters the MMO thread to tell everyone how much he hates MMOs because he has to play with other people.
>I hate working with people! Why won't massively multiplayer games cater to me?!?!?!
You might be on the spectrum anon
I don't want them to cater to me, I just said I don't need them or care about them, I have plenty of other things to play, please read.
>" I don't care bout them" says the autist in his 5th post about them
I can not care about something and still post about it. what's wrong, you have a job and a wife and 3 kids and don't have 16 hours a day to waste while you aren't sleeping? my time is ONLY spent being wasted, you must be a wagecuck if you don't understand posting about something you don't care about in the pursuit of throwing away your lifespan.
Holy shit, those people are real.
some solo stuff should exists on mmorpgs but it shouldn't be the only one
also fuck anything like Queue solo content
wow example would be that retarded proving grounds
>go into solo content
>can't join group content while doing solo stuff
>some solo stuff should exists on mmorpgs but it shouldn't be the only one
In theme parks maybe. My personal life waster was Lineage 2 and adding single player story to it would only fuck it. I think they already did something like that when L2 went f2p and it sucked.
single player story would be shit
who pays a monthly scam fee to watch cutscenes like XIV? i dont understand that
The real problem is that the quality of the experience has gone down over time in long-running MMOs. They should honestly charge less since the product is no longer worth what it once was.
nice strawman cocksucker
no one said anything about finding a group being hard, but ofc you shifted the argument to that because you morons can never argue the point being made and can only ever resort to not-so-subtle ad hom
>gets completely btfo
>has no response
>doesn't have the good sense to just close the tab and take the l
>rages like an autistic child instead
Embarrassing. Next time, remember that you're anonymous and no one will know if you run away after losing a debate. Getting yourself this worked up over nothing isn't healthy, son.
You didn't blow anyone the fuck out because you never addressed the point being made
Keep coping tho
>the point being made
What was that point again? If you can actually articulate a point to me then I'll address it, but I honestly don't think you can.
Still waiting btw. You never had a point, did you?
No it shouldn't you degenerate.
It's amazing how Thorndike's law of effect is still used today. I'm glad neuroscience is becoming more popular.
it's hard to quit
op here btw you can quit
i was in a top 50 world guild in wrath and avgd a 94 ish parse (neither of those matter because wrath is easy) but still quit just a week ago or so after playing since release
you can do it anons! quit!
At least in XIV you get tokens to work toward exchanging if you don't end up winning the drop
>need to kill boss once a week for 2 months to get one (1) weapon
>in a game that lets you play every job on the same character
Yeah no.
Don't forget
>making an alt requires you to rush through every expansions main storyline or pay up to skip it
Why would you EVER make a fucking alt on ffxiv? It's the ONE fucking game where that's meaningless
Weekly lockout
Playing with someone who already cleared causes less items to drop for everyone else. It's a retarded system.
Literally no one fucking does that besides the top .0000001% of mentally ill retards i.e. non-issue
For the lalafel erp
So I redownloaded TES online. I haven't played since before the necromamcer dropped and I never played tank. Thinking I'll male a necro tank and just do pubs. Hopefully the dungeons are as fun as I remember.
Tell me how to have fun in this game. I tried a dungeon once and all I did was running after the party and spamming some spells at the boss. I want to enjoy it, but after the Tamier Unlimited there is no character progress until you're CP160, and even then it's marginal.
>win roll
>tank cries and begs for that one specific item
>"muh gear"
>"but ur a healer"
>I refuse to elaborate and simply walk away and discard the item
that's what you get for losing the roll, champ!
>7%
oh you sweet summer child
things you can grind alone are objectively fine. I'm fine killing 100 billion slimes solo, I would do that any time over even having to roll for a 1/100 in a large group. I fucking hate group play and I wish all MMOs would abolish it in favor of offline MMO format like XII and xenoblade.
I loved them
I loved seeing one of these
I loved grabbing them and selling the ones I didn't need
I want to go back
>MMO crap is now infecting other genres
im not liking this timeline bros.
>crying about 7% drop rate
I can only imagine millenials grinding for MVP cards in RO
It's less about the game and more about the chance to do something with a group of people
>two years later
>game actively refuses to give me mini construct minion from Ridorana lighthouse
I just don’t get it. There were times when i even got a 98 and still lost.
If you are desperate for it, you could try to make a PF to farm for it.
Not even desperate, just amazed. This is the only one where this happens.
For me, it was the healing top from third Nier raid. Equal chance to drop, my fucking ass.
>how to make an mmorpg that everyone except the coomers quit in a few months
You're supposed to be playing the game because you're having fun. Getting rare items you want is just the cherry on top. If you're playing a game or content that you don't enjoy because you want a chance at that dopamine hit from winning a roll, well, that sounds like a personal problem.
No, I will not play turtle wow
No, I will not play the riot mmo or any chink mmo for that matter
No, I will not accept anything but a fully non-instanced world with significant death penalty and enemy cities capture and an original recognizable art style
Yes I can wait 20 years for that, idgaf, I will not accept mediocrity like the average mmo player base
i bet your mother is very proud
>he thinks 7% is bad
>he doesn't play oldschool runescape
>second best helmet in the game is 1/1000 drop (even after they made the monsters stronger because people thought they were too easy to kill)
>defense-lowering warhammer, mandatory for high level PvM is 1/5000 drop
>a boss that actually has worse drop rates on hard mode vs braindead masses
>best bow in the game is .1% drop from a whole raid (assuming you don't die and lose points)
tbf both versions of runescape are p2w so drop rates are moot
This what neopets is but on steroids. All players compete for items than spawn randomly through the day. Rare items (r99 and r100) only spawn once per month or even year. The worst part is that it is a tedious monotonous task (there is no gameplay, you just sit on a page and keep refreshing), and also there are bots that autobuy anything valuable with almost inhuman speed.
MMORPGS truly were the gacha before gacha existed.
>just pay us a monthly fee to get a chance to roll on these virtual items
>trust us, this is worth your time!
>MMOs
WoW is the only one that still does this, every other living MMO has a deterministic route
FFXIV also does this but to be fair it's just WoW clone.
ff14has tokens
you're guaranteed to be BiS in 8 weeks tops even if you lose every single roll. usually less
Not only in MMO, I farmed 60+ hours for materials for legendary weapons in SAO Hollow realization
we need more games like HR, I just wanna waste a bunch of time grinding without having to rely on other people for anything.
You have no idea what youre taking, it was a painful experience, I just wanted the platinum, I saw a lot of movies during my 60+ hour farm, I liked Eyes Wide Shut but I didnt get what the movie was about maybe I'm dumb
You just can't find a good anon playing mmos in 2023
there isn't a single good mmo right now, how ironic that as technology becomes better and faster mmos become smaller with more focus on single player crap
its amazing how 15 years ago a dude running a RO server in his shitty home computer could handle hundreds of players simultaneously spamming crap on screen but modern mmos have to "shard" instances with more than 20 players
MMO's weren't good, it was the novelty of it that was perfect. People getting out of singleplayers and seeing a full world of people made them eat whatever garbage the companies were selling like 0.01% drop chances, always PVP, blatant cheating and botting among other things.
>grinding drops
EVE doesn't need that. Come play a real game
>spreadsheet the game
I did a raid ONCE and I decided I would never do that gay shit again
the pic doesn't even describe how bad it really is, sometimes the raid leader just straight up gives loot to their buddies, so an upgrade and drop and you're not even allowed to roll for it
shit is so stupid, I don't understand raidfags, I don't understand why MMO devs fashion their games around this minority of fuckers who are impossible to please and whine the loudest before quitting and going back to WoW
shit makes no sense especially when you look at the graveyard of MMOs that have all done the same thing
>7% drop chance
lucky you
>The rare item drops
>Player rolls against you because his alt wants it as a rare transmog
>He wins
Reminds me of old EverQuest pickup raids on naggy and vox where someone would just ninja loot the entire dragon half the time.
That's not what a skinner box is. Stop repeating other people's stupidity that you heard second hand.
Solo content is fine in MMOs as long as you can get killed by other players while doing it. The worst is when players can get by without ever interacting with anyone, world pvp solves that issue.
>it's an embedded porn rat
Not surprised.
ok.. Then Worgens are more to your liking perhaps?
A 7% drop rate is super generous tbh. You've nothing to complain about if those are your odds.
Its not remotely a 7% chance for you to get the item when you factor in the surrounding guild circumstances
I don't play shitty MMO's like WoW. I'm sorry, didn't realize I was posting in a shitty blizztard thread until I scrolled through the thread a bit. Have a good day.
>didn't realize I was posting in a shitty blizztard thread until I scrolled through the thread a bit
You should have realized if you read the entire OP image instead of glancing at the first line then mashing your keyboard
>I don't play shitty MMO's like WoW
IMAGINE basing your self worth on which mmos you play, as if playing something besides wow somehow makes you superior lmao
if you're playing them at all then you're retarded
The point is that if you need to share that drop rate with other 25 people in your raid thats really low. like 0.01% is not too low when you can just solo farm the enemies really fast
>all these zoomers addicted to instant gratification shit seething
>There are really people who play MMOs in 2023 still, what the hell.
ftfy OP
Soloing tombs of Amascut in Old school runescape. Only thing cucking me is Jagex server issues and god himself.
