      OP destroyed in one. Some games even have multiple options for both. In old GG, there were multiple types of blocks, alpha counter, slashback, backstep, and jumping if you want to call that a dodgeroll. A game should have at least 3 defensive options

      Why would rolling be most reward when it's the most braindead one with zero downsides? Rolling should be a hail mary last resort for if you fricked up and need to get yourself out of a bad position fast or for avoiding big unblockable attacks like aoe fire breath or shit like that. You should be rewarded most for standing your ground and fighting like a man not rolling around like a pig in the mud

    Isn’t being able to move position an active reward?
    Also a parry wouldn’t deal damage, some kind of follow up attack would be doing that, something that the rolls repositioning can do as well.

      Dodge roll repositions you which is incredibly valuable, you didn't even spend three seconds thinking about this did you

      Here's a novel idea for positioning. What about if we mapped movement options to the control stick? So your character can move and you can position them?

          Bloodborne "parrying" involves shooting the enemy in the face at the last moment which opens them up for a riposte and you can do it to 90% of enemies in the game.

        The parrying in BB is pretty exaggerated. It's not really a big factor against later bosses and can be wholly ignored in pve if you prefer. Quickstep is just roll with a different look and name.
