Jesus fricking christ they're really going after the Call of Duty tacticool crowd with the Imperium now aren't they? Could've at least expanded on the Gue'vesa lore if they wanted to appeal to those people.

It's not really a concession, i think they karsh are fine, they suffer issues all later day GW minis have which mostly boils down to bad posing and i think the heads would be better if tehy were bulkier and flatter to make them look more like a unique group of guard rather than just like vets with hellguns.

        >Helmet redesign

It barely looks different? Like some parts a less raised then they were before but aside from that there's no meaningful difference.

The entire bowl shape of the helmet is different. Granted its because the current plastics are from the chimp armed stone age of plastic kits, but it's noticeable enough I'll be stocking spare cadian helmets for the new minis.

I understand that troops on a war front will get different eras of kit, but the helmets feel like they'll be really noticeable, if nothing else noticeable enough to me and my tism to be off-putting.

            Anonymous

I really can't see what you're talking about, the overall helmet shape seems to be exactly the same, the rebreather just looks less pronounced and the detail wasn't scaled 1:1 with the increase in proportions. At least that I can see anyways

              Anonymous

the new helmet is a ball (too thin and too tall), the old helmet is much wider, the old headlamps were much more squat, the rebreathers were much shorter, the filters smaller and the glasses recessed under the helmet. the breastplates went up to the collar intead of the fabric collar the new ones have, the new shoulder plates have a different design but are much narrower then the old ones the old wrist computer thing on the vambrace was big and thick, the new hellgun looks like garbage with its greebling, the armored hip plates are again too thin and while the old kasrkin armor has completely armored legs that almost interlock the new one is much more lightly armored. the whole new model has a tall and lanky look to it and the small helmet means he looks like he has microcephaly.

the silhouette is fricked compared to the old guys who are solid and thick boys.

forgot to mention they also moved the forehead aquila too far up (and made it too small), as the brow ridge looks weird under it instead of covered by it.

Harks back to their original creation. Way back, Kasrkin and Shock Troopers were their own thing, up there with Veterans as an elite unit. Then Scions came out and they tried to roll them all into one thing, but it wasn't exactly done well. Now they're back to the beginning.

No. Storm troopers (what became scions) predate kasrkin.

Anon didn't say storm troopers you chucklefrick, he said scions.

When we got plastic scions we should've got either updated kasrkin as the default storm troopers (bc cadian pattern stuff being the assumed default) or updated versions of the jumpsuit dudes who were also cool as frick. Scions look awful, I've never seen a scion army that looked better than the two immediate predecessors.

Cadians in general are too modern for my taste. Vostroyan, 30k’s solar auxilia, the new navy breachers, krieg, pic related, all give me the arcane future vibe.

Cadians just look like 21st century soldiers, not 41st millennium soldiers with thousands of years of tech that they use without knowing how.

    >Maybe a sign we didn't really need these guys
Nah these guys are fine, the problem is that GW felt the need to turn stormtroopers into a specific faction rather than just saying 'yeah each regiment has stormtrooper dudes, these are the Cadian ones'. Really stormtroopers, kasrkin, scions, Krieg grenadiers, whatever should just be that one same thing; your regiment's elite shitkickers or some seconded ones from elsewhere.

    >Maybe a sign we didn't really need these guys

You got 5% scale creep. thats why you got them.

Every single release from GW will introduce larger and larger models until one day you're playing with nothing but 40mm round bases. Thats the UNDENIABLE trend of the last 5 years.

The target audience is neckbeards. They're fat. They have fat fingers. Nerds need glasses. Models have to be large with the resolution necessary to accommodate fat fingered bespectacled friendless kids with disposable income.

Impossible, GW tells me that the target audience is attractive 20something white women and fit, smiling minorities.

What's the stat line difference between an existing veteran and a scion?

How would we know when the codex won't be out for weeks? Also they're an elite human, they generally have identical statlines and are differentiated by abilities and wargear.

Or we didn't need scions. These are better by alot and always have been.
