This. Whichever sick fricks keep contracting them to make the most banal Metroidvania games imaginable needs to cut it out NOW

I'm definitely going to buy the Gunvolt rhythm game, but I'm going to feel like a complete cuck as I do so

At least the game is pretty cheap and if you like rhythm and/or gunvolt you will have fun with it

I don't think they've ever developed an actual metroidvania game. Grim Guardians was self-funded I believe, like their Gunvolt games.

Literally their last released game was a Metroidvania, and not even in the way where you can get all lawyerly and go "heh, actually,". The Yohane game. Come on, man.

But also stuff like Megaman ZX or Blaster Master Zero is basically Metroidvania style. Admittedly I like BMZ a lot but not for those elements

Umbraclaw seems like it'll be arcade hard, as it's heavily implied you'll be limited just 9 lives for the entire game, and until you get access to the humanoid form at around your fifth live (I think) you'll die in just one hit.

Multiple endings too so there will probably be a full autism one that requires you to finish the game without ever dying.

Gunvolt 2 and 3 are top-tier in gameplay IMO. They're not as balanced as their Megaman games since they're too easy if you don't care about score, but if you get into the right mindset, they're a blast unmatched by any other 2D action game I've ever played.

I want them to make a sequel or another game in the style of dmfd, except a bit better this time and without moronic match matching stuff.

Region restricted matchmaking to some degree I can understand, but it's basically a super specific match of "you need to queue for this specific quest, and even if other parties were theoretically doing it (they're not, because the online is frickin dead), it doesn't show as an 'active' or 'in progress' room instead just listing nothing, giving the image that the online is dead". daemon x machina had the exact same problem in that active rooms dont show up on the online room list, so you go online looking for a room, see no rooms thus "online is dead, may as well not bother", which made dxm online dead from day 1 on pc.

it was okay until they went scorched earth with 3, it was basically the last Jedi of the series since it tells you all the heroes did the wrong thing in the previous games and everybody suffered as a result.

Is Gunvolt or Luminous Avenger Ix any good? I just got done with Megaman Zero/ZX and want to play something similar. The whole dashing into enemies and then shooting locked on bullets seems really stupid to me though.

Might want to skim through pic related to get more detailed info on each game. The dashing into enemies to lock on might seem stupid but pretty much everyone who plays as that character agrees that his play style is fun as frick. Gunvolt 3's character plays the most like Zero with an addition of a teleport slash attack that you're only "forced" to use if you're going for a high score, otherwise you don't HAVE to use it if you don't want to.

It's such a bizarre series. I played through all of inti's games last year and I found iX 1 to be the best. I still have to retry them without prevasion though :^)

          Anonymous

Oh also GV1 seems a lot better of a game on hard mode. It's one of those series where it's only fun if you're really good at it.

      Anonymous

The quick answer imo is, play GV3 because it's got the most intuitive mechanics and scoring, it's easier to get into off the bat

Then maybe try iX1 or GV1 to see if you like the other gameplay styles

        Anonymous

        >Then maybe try iX1 or GV1 to see if you like the other gameplay styles
Why not just recommend Gunvolt 2? That has both play styles in one game.

          Anonymous

iX is straight up better for Copen, and while you shouldn't really care about the story in these games it still would feel slightly weird to play 2 before 1 imo. Whereas 3 might as well be a spinoff for how much it relates to the previous games

          But other than that, sure

Mega Man 10 was shit. Look, I understand it's basically the B side to 9's A side, and it has plenty of good music and stages, but you guys need to understand that 9 was so unfathomably well-made that it basically obsoleted half of the Classic Mega Man entries. Inti Creates mogged Capcom so fricking hard that their entire company history has been predicated upon trying to replicate that feeling.

The problem is MM9 can't be cloned. You can never have a stage as good as Galaxy Man's or a song as good as Splash Woman's ever again.

      Anonymous

      MM9 was perfecting a formula
And MM10 was letting them get creative. I do remember thinking MM10 was unnecessary, but if inti wanted to make it because they had more ideas then that's awesome

I think iX, GV2 and GV3 are great.

Why won't Capcom let them make more Megaman since it's obvious they decided it's not worth making them themselves after 11?

same reason why nintendo dont let capcom make zelda games anymore, they're better than nintendo at it.

        Anonymous

No you dumbass, it's the complete opposite situation. Capcom dissolved Flagship and Nintendo actually poached some of them including Fujibayashi who now directs the series.

      Anonymous

Crapcom clearly has a stick up their ass over them for God knows what reason. Evidence for that is them taking out the "Developed by Inti Creates" splash screen from every game in the Zero/ZX Legacy Collection, while still keeping the "Presented by Capcom" one.

      Anonymous

Capcom doesn't like Inti because inti were suggested by conman and Capcom hates Conman so by association they hate inti

        Anonymous

Not quite, Capcom hates Inti because they're ex-Capcom employees who left to make their own company
They worked with Capcom solely because Inafune begged the higher ups a lot

Blaster Master Zero trilogy was great, couldn't get into their other not-megaman games, they always adds a mechanic that make it unfun for me instead of copying it shamelesy, and I find classicvania nes style kinda bland

BMZ2 was a truly great game. Gunvolt 2 also would have been great if Gunvolt's half didn't exist and it was just a solo Copen game
