You are correct but a gay for quitting. The game was rushed to hell and back and needed more polish. My god, the sewers are the main test for your character. You have to be VERY good at stealth or combat. I literally ran out of every bit of ammo, and had to rely upon my samurai sword to kill the Geodudes then had to take the escape hatch, arm up on more ammo then continue the sewers.

Also ran out in the Chinese temple as well, for similar reasons.

I don't know how to explain it, but I just reinstalled and played through Santa Monica. Holy shit, I didn't realize just how short it actually was. The hotel is the only big "dungeon". The trainyard is like 3 rooms.

I think a lot of it was just the atmosphere and new player shine, where don't know what's behind the curtain so to speak.

It's literally all atmosphere. It's just one long corridor down to the NPC you came to save,, a "boss" fight that might not even happen if you have decent persuasion to trick him into going to the blood bank
        >warehouse with the Kue Jin
It's just one room at the start with a single laptop to give you some backstory on his mission and then its the arena where you fight him.
        >crack house
It's literally just copypasted corridors with empty side rooms that exist solely for zombies to come out of. The final boss arena ia just a big empty square room with nothing inside.

Vampires feel indifferent about sex. All they crave is blood, and to most the gender of source doesn't matter. Whether it's man, woman, child, doesn't matter.

      Anonymous

I feel like I have to mention this every thread.

VtM vampires can easily get hard/wet as well as warm by spending a blood point. They feel sexual pleasure, the only caveat is it's kind of meh compared to feeding on someone. But, much like sex between mortals, emotional intimacy and/or weird kinks can make it much more enjoyable. So many Kindred still frick.

In fact, there is an official VTM erotica novel, which includes several elders and low humanity vampires (even those in the Sabbat and not on humanity at all) engaging in sexual acts. Lore that claims only high humanity vampires frick is all recent V5 shit.

Creative uses of necromancy or blood rituals can maybe produce a viable dhampir in a non-thinblood vampire. There has never been any official material for this though, as far as I know. So conception is theoretically possible.

Grout's Mansion is the best part of the game. It's great how you begin with this impression that he's sane for a Malkavian compared to the other Malk you've encountered so far like Therese/Jeannette, but as you progress through the level, it becomes clear he's a million times more unhinged than someone with two personalities actively trying to kill each other.

The reveal that he turned his wife into a music box is so creepy, especially when you can find her brain in a jar and something that I think might be her womb or something.

The free points actually hurt the game given that they have such rigid conditions and you basically need to fully plan ahead your spending path to get proper benefit from them. You have to weigh whether it's a net benefit to spend points to be able to read books to get points, for fricks sake. I just ignore the system and use cheats to shore up tertiary skills - which is mainly the purpose of the system.

Sorta. Here's a relatively simple breakdown of what happened.

      >White Wolf decides to end the original setting with Gehenna for a multitude of reasons (they wanted to change the way a lot of things worked on a mechanical level, and felt trapped by their own metaplot, to name a few)
      >They then released a new game series also called World of Darkness, although the names of the gamelines were changed, and the games themselves were similar to the old stuff in some ways, but also clearly a different setting entirely.
      >This upset a lot of the old guard fans, who abandoned the IP.
      >White Wolf entered a corporate merger with CCP (the EVE Online guys), who wanted to make an MMO.
      >This MMO spent almost a decade in dev hell, with it regularly being cannibalized to add more stuff to EVE.
      >New World of Darkness developed its own fanbase during this period, though TTRPGs were in a slump in general at the time.
      >New World of Darkness gets a second edition, called Chronicles of Darkness for corporate reasons, some writers from the nWoD run formed Onyx Path Productions to take over development.
      >V20, a 20th anniversary edition of Masquerade drops at just the right time in the tabletop scene. Does pretty well for itself. More 20th anniversary stuff is planned.
      >CCP sells the IP to Paradox Interactive.
      >Paradox starts working on a new edition of the "old" setting, called 5th edition to ride the D&D5e hype train (I'm dead serious).
      >Restart "White Wolf" only it's comprised near-exclusively of Swedish LARPers.
      >Release V5, it's filled with retcons and questionable metaplot developments, and a helping of IdPol. In my opinion, should not be considered the same setting as Masquerade.
      >Causes a minor international incident
      >Fire most of the LARPers (but not all), get a washed up guy from old WW to take over.
      >6 years later, WoD5 has only released V5, W5, and H5. Werewolf and Hunter are both reboots without pretense. No Mage, Demon, Mummy, or Changeling.

Hollywood is unironically the best part of the game, the sidequests with VV, Romero, Ash and Isaac are fun, the shock of meeting your past human friend and having to deal with them is kino, the main quest there is tons of fun with the Tsimisce shit until the Sewers which you can thankfully just skip with the patch, and the music/atmosphere is the best in the game

As a game it's shitty throughout. World, characters, atmosphere etc are great and for me were enough of a draw to complete the game a few times when I was going through a vampire phase, but the gameplay itself really doesn't feel good and the "roleplaying" is superficial, so unless you vibe with the mood and setting you'll get worn out quickly. Now I much prefer the interactive novels, I find them much more engaging and immersive.

i wish clan quest mod's added hub wasn't just a big square, it's a pain to navigate
in comparison you can break down the other hubs into

    >a long line

A lorelet wouldn't even know about antedeluvians. Also Andrei himself says the sabbat fights against antedeluvians so the confusion is a bit weird.

Antedeluvians have been mentioned multiple times by that point in the game. Also, a lorelet posting today would be better able to articulate what sort of powerlevel he thought a boss he tried to suck up to a million years ago.

Would he really go far in an area where there's a Prince considering he's got guys who are basically entire libraries of vampiric family trees? He could just ask Primogen Autisticus Maximus who was Embraced around 200 BC and ask if this spiky motherfricker is who he claims to be, and if not then he asks for another leech to scry some information about spiky boy

Then again considering this is a tabletop game I can see that being multiple sessions. I distinctly remember tabletop games going the way of Dune and having humans/humanlikes being the repository of knowledge, so maybe the librarian is a Tremere who fricked up this guy and turned him into a human computer straight out of 40k, scrolls and ropes of memory flowing out of his trepanated skull. And you'd have to sift through that information

                >Primogen Autisticus Maximus who was Embraced around 200 BC
Would go into torpor every once in a while, forcing the players to find a way to fill in the blanks somehow, investigating every lead in a moment of time where it's essentially a memory black hole - lots of stories to be told here

                >asks for another leech to scry some information about spiky boy
the vampire israelites won't do it for free, if at all. Will probably ask for favors and give you a shopping list - maybe allow players to say frick it and find another way

                >turned him into a human computer straight out of 40k, scrolls and ropes of memory flowing out of his trepanated skull. And you'd have to sift through that information
Having to sift through and put context to it would probably take a while. All in all would be a good non-combat session and in video game terms would probably be a puzzle level or even a hub. But that would require players to properly fill in the blanks in tabletop, and in video games you'd probably just get one of three choices and if you frick up you can just go back and choose another option until you get Andre

makes sense, every other vamp you meet except for dreadlock shovelhead looked like a normal person with a possibly quirky looking face or personality
there's also beckett but you also probably thought he was a werewolf at first too, and a fledgeling would probably think so too

Its because when I first play an rpg I make the choices as if I was actually making them and try not to reload on mistakes and shit. Beckett was chill with me because I was a gangrel. I still find it funny that hes all "Oh the caine being the origin of vampires is absurd" when its like did you not think the notion of vampires and werewolves being real was absurd when you were alive? Hes like if a redditor became a vampire

Yeah, but that's every "immersive sim" for you. 90% of the effort is in the first level and then the quality drops like a fricking rock.
Immersive sims are a stupid idea anyway, stealth and action in the same game never works, pick one or the other. That's why Thief is the only good one, it chooses a side.

VTMB has some fun writing and atmosphere, though. And fat breasts. Worth playing.

      >Immersive sims are a stupid idea anyway, stealth and action in the same game never works, pick one or the other
If your argument is that something has to give, I can certainly agree, but to claim that two arbitrary things can't be in a good game is absurd. MGSV and Hitman™ both have excellent implementations of both stealth and action coming at a cost of other design aspects.

I disagree. I don't like either of their stealth gameplay design, that load the games with frickass guard patrol routes or non-telegraphed disguise heirarchies and they both actively call action players shitters.
