it's one of the great FPS games, I'm really sad that it didn't seem to inspire a new influx of creativity in FPS. after FEAR, I figured the next big thing would be trying to up the AI game. I know the FEAR AI isn't actually super complex, but compared to a lot of other AI it's pretty cool. Anyway, it was disappointing that more games didn't try to feature interesting or more difficult AI after that

Not him but Fear 2, maybe once. Not 3. And obviously extraction point is right up there with fear 1 so replay that plenty. Fear 2 also has a really cool DLC where you play as a replica, it's fricking sick

I am convinced this game was some sort of cosmic mistake. In FEAR 2 and 3, the devs said they were trying to bring the game closer to their perfect vision for the series and if F3AR was that perfect, final vision, then FEAR 1 must have been some sort of mistake. There's no way they could've made a game that good on purpose.
Fricking embarrassing that Timegate Studios made infinitely better sequels in the expansions than Monolith did.

FEAR 2 gameplay was forced to be designed for consoles because at that time every developer was shitting on PC gamers and industry impression of PC gaming was that it was gonna disappear in 5 years.
I know the devs said that the game was inspired by Japanese horror like Ju-on and Ringu, but after watching all the Ring movies and reading a few of the books, I had no idea the story is practically fricking ripped from the Ring down to the ghost-rape-impregnation and the absolutely bananas exposition.
FEAR does that thing where it announces every single scare with the Radio Unknown Origin signal and a lot of the time it'll play it and you won't see it so you know you missed it.

you could easily make a case that it's a little overrated, but it's not ridiculously so, especially given how much bland FPS is out there

Yeah you can hear your character talk and he has such a cool voice. It starts off badass and right into the action. Must play imo

I did that in the first FEAR years ago. Was surprisingly challenging and a lot of fun.
