>Its a AA game on last gen hardware. Could you possibly be more disconnected?
AA game on last gen hardware with poor technical artistry and poor art direction/design with the 2d 3d and overly moving background
mistakes were made, period, there are plenty of lower budget games that look better. the problems are conceptual, top-down ones, like how the 2d 3d illusion is constantly shattered by miriam contacting surfaces differently
Ugly polygonal graphics instead of glorious 2d pixel art.
it's avarage at best and with all the money iga made it could've been much better
the 2,5D also sucks ass and should've been just 2D (better if soulful pixel animation)
It's good but ugly graphics killed it. Regardless of what Gankerermin tell you, graphical presentation is the second most important part of a game after the gameplay.
>why wasnt it muh generic indie pixel 8bitshit!!!
Jesus christ the state of neo-/v/
>Stop wanting good looking games! >When it's a spiritual sequel to games that were way better looking than this one is!
Cope. It doesn't need to be pixelshit if they were actually able to deliver on this. But they weren't. Game looks like garbage and it got mogged by tons of Metroidvanias from the same decade. Symphony of the Night was a game that stood above the other metroid style games in art. Bloodstained is a game that gets completely overwhelmed in a pile of games that look better than it. The contrast is clear.
It's good but ugly graphics killed it. Regardless of what Gankerermin tell you, graphical presentation is the second most important part of a game after the gameplay.
>muh graphics
because it's not good at all, it's just passable.
also because they filled up the end of the map with an area that is "bigger" so it counts for more %, which is some cheating bullshit that left a bad taste in my mouth.
>muh map percentage that doesn't even unlock anything
>It's graphics are ugly,
it really is. imagine if the game had been 1/3 as long with 1/3 as much stuff but looked like that 2d pixel concept we got.
which was an intentional deception, as far as i 'm concerned
why go to the trouble to post this? like it leaves anyone wanting to engage with you or caring what you think? lol go make me a sandwich, that's how valuable your input is with that effort level...woman tier
it's avarage at best and with all the money iga made it could've been much better
the 2,5D also sucks ass and should've been just 2D (better if soulful pixel animation)
It's good but ugly graphics killed it. Regardless of what Gankerermin tell you, graphical presentation is the second most important part of a game after the gameplay.
It's a single-player game that came out years ago. A great game, and they somehow still manage to put more stuff in it, but not enough to sustain enough discussion long-term.
I wish the randomized mode was truly randomized.
It was Aria of Sorrow 3, i.e. alright. Definitely the beat QoL overall, if nothing more. Still can't beat the king of enemy-soul-snatching games though. Nobody beats the king.
also because they filled up the end of the map with an area that is "bigger" so it counts for more %, which is some cheating bullshit that left a bad taste in my mouth.
It's above average, better than hollow knight at least just with a less reddit fanbase.
Just because you're years late to the conversation doesn't mean it wasn't popular.
The only thing this game did is reiterate just how much of a slam dunk the 'Soul' system from Aria was. Giving people more slots for more souls was a great idea, too.
That said, I'm sooner to replay Curse of the Moon 1/2 than this game, even with the wealth of options it has. Hope the second Ritual game picks up on some of the lesser parts.
I want to like it, but it's just a SotN clone and everything about it worse. It's graphics are ugly, the game is filled with out of place Kickstarter stuff, and it just doesn't work. Did you wish SotN could just crash every time you played it? What about bugs that hardlock your game and force you to reset and make a new file?
It got a lot of support and fun free content like the randomizer and new characters, but the performance and bugs break the game and make it nearly unplayable.
>which was an intentional deception, as far as i 'm concerned
Eh, it's hard for a concept artist to do "Ok, make this look like shit based on our incompetence and Unreal Engine 4 sucking"
It's just more that it was the actual programmers and in-game artists that couldn't even slightly live up to what the concept artist drew. But that's usually the case in any game. The difference is with kickstarters they publicize it when trying to get you to pay for it.
Only the first 60% are well done. Everything afterward is just a series of barely interconnected bland corridors with no interesting level design or enemies. Den of Behemoths and the last level in particular are a fricking travesty.
Zangetsu is also a far more interesting character than Miriam. Glad devs realized this.
Zangetsu mode was so insulting I just uninstalled.
Zero attempt to change the map or utilize his abilities to unlock parts of the map, doors are just unlocked for no reason, paths open since he doesn't have whatever ability miriam would have used
No progression or way to customize him he just starts with everything (unless they updated to change that since the release)
Last time I played it it was still shit, yeah. Even fricking child of light mode was far, far more enjoyable.
I don't get why anyone likes Zangetsu to start with though, so I don't have any like for the character to forgive how garbage he plays and how dull the mode is. He's just such a fricking hack. "we can't use Fuuma so here's not_fuuma on a shoestring lol ofuda ofuda."
Because ToRtanic has irreparably ruined this board. The game was great aside from some jank and questionable decisions like nerfing the frick out of alchemy by jacking up the price on Alkahest, and I'm looking forward to seeing how much it will improve with the next game.
Ive been here since 08, when rage was a thing.
Shitting on things keeps the balance, if you still get mad when Ganker shits on a game you like thats on you, for me I expect it.

no it hasn't always been. you don't see a difference because what you contribute is near the lower end while the difference is stark to me because what i contribute is the higher end.

I look forward to you looking back on your past with shame when you eventually grow out of your "ironic" phase.
I want to replay it, but every time I just elect to wait for the next new area to be implemented, which means I never will.
How diluted does it feel now that they added like what, four crossover areas?
Bloodless mode on hard was surprisingly challenging, the old dude that runs in a circle was easily the hardest boss and took me like 20 fricking tries to get it.
>no one mentioning that it's taken years for the kickstarter rewards to get added
I haven't kept track in a while but I think there's still shit that's missing.
What’s more to be said? When it came out it completely blew expectations by actually being a good game despite the haters and kickstarter expectations.
The complaints mainly stem from the company taking literally forever to finish the so-called promised DLC, the post-release nerf on a skill (despite being a single player game), and the Switch bugs and framerate (ironically despite being one of the highest selling platforms for it). Also the ungodly bad artstyle. They really should have either chosen 2D or at the very least cel-shading instead of the weird claymation shadows.
Mostly people are just waiting on info the next game. Unfortunately just like the DLC schedule, it looks like they’re going to take years to make it.
It's a slightly above average Metroidvania. Or rather, it would be, if it wasn't so ugly. Tons of pixel metroidvanias made that didn't need Kickstarters and meanwhile people paid their hard earned money in advance for this shit. Never finished it mostly off of that.
>looks like shit >is just another gba/nds castlevania based off sotn >there's like 10 of those you can play >gets mogged by picrel >40$ for some reason when it should be 10-15$
geeeeee I wonder why
OoC is shit as well, only reason people like it is because it puts up something of a challenge relative to other Igavanias + Shanoa is cute
the weird attempt to blend linear level design with metroid-like elements just falls flat
I meant to say shanoa is pure sex compared to the new protag. I still much prefer OoE in terms of gameplay as well but Bloodstained is a good game too.
No idea why you'd say OoE is shit though.
I really like that by end game you just basically just fly and zoom through the map with the dash and jump skill, and kills all the weaker enemies by running into them like you're a truck.
I played both Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon 1/2 to death and unlocked everything.
Those pixel games are so fricking great.
But at the same time i never played the original because it looks like ugly ass garbage.
Metroidvanias never work with 3D. And the fact that nobody cares about that new metroid is a proof.
Just make another 2d metroidvania with nice pixel art and everybody will love it
>nobody cares about that new metroid is a proof
If you're talking about dread you're wrong since it's the best selling metroid game. It also has almost daily seethe threads.
really boring
terrible hitboxes
terrible graphics
no, your "wife" isn't enough to make the game good
>hit boxes
U frickin srs?
Ganker has a grudge with israelitestarter games so its impossible to talk about this game here.
>Really boring.
This isn't a Hollow Knight thread.
>terrible hitboxes
Never had a problem. Every fight felt fair.
>terrible graphics
Its a AA game on last gen hardware. Could you possibly be more disconnected?

>Its not OTHER GAME so its bad.
Nobody is saying its great but its not bad.
>Its a AA game on last gen hardware
Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth is a budget project too
Yet just fricking compare them
>Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth
It looks fine. Stiff as frick enemies but fine.

God damn this looks so much better than what we got
Why didn't it look good then? It's not even that it just looks bad, it looks cheap.
Because it sucks, its a watered down version of SotN with really shitty unreal-engine graphics. It's very hard to enjoy it as a metroidvania.
also all of this
Ugly polygonal graphics instead of glorious 2d pixel art.
Autism complaints
>muh pixels

what a truly unpredictable response! i hope you get it one day kid
it's avarage at best and with all the money iga made it could've been much better
the 2,5D also sucks ass and should've been just 2D (better if soulful pixel animation)
Because it disproves the idea that every kickstarter game is a scam. You shouldn't support kickstarters though.
I just finished it again last month. It's a lot of fun, though the mystery lab area was obnoxious.
This game is outrageously fine.
Why do people talk about it the correct amount for a game that came out four years ago?
It's good but ugly graphics killed it. Regardless of what Gankerermin tell you, graphical presentation is the second most important part of a game after the gameplay.
Wish there was more content
It's a single-player game that came out years ago. A great game, and they somehow still manage to put more stuff in it, but not enough to sustain enough discussion long-term.
I wish the randomized mode was truly randomized.
Not much to discuss several years after release. It's still one of the best games in the genre.
I liked the blood fountain drain because it made me feel like I applied myself
I hated that the underwater crystal was a random drop
Metroidgays get too jealous
I like it but they need to hire some new artists.
It was Aria of Sorrow 3, i.e. alright. Definitely the beat QoL overall, if nothing more. Still can't beat the king of enemy-soul-snatching games though. Nobody beats the king.

I got filtered by the blood lady boss
Keep trying. I beat her on hard mode and I'm a casual.
use the twin dragon soul, the fire breath one
I want to like it, but it's just a SotN clone and everything about it worse. It's graphics are ugly, the game is filled with out of place Kickstarter stuff, and it just doesn't work. I never had any bugs or performance issues and my PC isn't even that good. It is ugly though.
Ugly artstyle repels away most people
Only the first 60% are well done. Everything afterward is just a series of barely interconnected bland corridors with no interesting level design or enemies. Den of Behemoths and the last level in particular are a fricking travesty.

People talked about when it came out.
Ugly 3D. If they actually put effort into the graphics so it's on par with the games it is inspired by it would be remembered more fondly.
Shitstained is garbage. SotN, AoS, DoS, PoR, OoE, Hollow Knight and Blaphemous are all far superior.
Because ToRtanic has irreparably ruined this board. The game was great aside from some jank and questionable decisions like nerfing the frick out of alchemy by jacking up the price on Alkahest, and I'm looking forward to seeing how much it will improve with the next game.
Or some people like it and others dont and thats fine and the point of the board, nobody comes here for validation
>nobody comes here for validation
what????? most incorrect statement i've seen in years
a loooot of people come to this site to groupthink and share echo chambers dude
/vg/ maybe but this board will shit on everything (and thats a good thing) so it seems quite moronic to come here for that
>(and thats a good thing)
not at all, board quality is F tier since like 2011, you prob don't have a frame of reference

Imagine using Bloodstained as the basis for your tortanic Ganker rant which is a game Ganker largely ignores besides a few mostly positive threads.
Literally every kickstarter/crowd-funded game has attracted ToRtanic-style shitposting because of Tim Schaffer's 3.3million kerfuffle.
I want to replay it, but every time I just elect to wait for the next new area to be implemented, which means I never will.
How diluted does it feel now that they added like what, four crossover areas?
Remember that the game looks a lot better with the brightness turned down.
Bloodless mode on hard was surprisingly challenging, the old dude that runs in a circle was easily the hardest boss and took me like 20 fricking tries to get it.
COTM2>COTM>>>>>ROTN
>no one mentioning that it's taken years for the kickstarter rewards to get added
I haven't kept track in a while but I think there's still shit that's missing.
I think the only ones that didn't happen were the WiiU and Vita ports.
because it's 4 years old
I felt the castle was pretty lackluster
What’s more to be said? When it came out it completely blew expectations by actually being a good game despite the haters and kickstarter expectations.

OoE is the best game in the franchise by a wide margin.
It's too linear imo. Portrait of Ruin is better.
This
People get filtered by the anime aspect but its so much fun
OoE is great too just in a different way
People who get filtered by anime are fake fans
most op character in castlevania history. b***h is a monster
FACT:
Mesugakis are the strongest race in the world
I know right. She makes Rondo look like the easiest classicvania
Average Maria mode Rondo run
That was very quick.
I meant to say shanoa is pure sex compared to the new protag. I still much prefer OoE in terms of gameplay as well but Bloodstained is a good game too.
No idea why you'd say OoE is shit though.
I disagree, it's a neat compromise between classicvanias and Metroidvanias.
Because it' s a worse Order of Eccelsia.
If you own that gem - and every gamer should - there is no reason for you whats-so-ever to ever buy this crap.
OoE is one of my top 10 games and I would still say Bloodstained is worth playing.

just finished rondo of blood and sotn (too easy). Should i play OoC next or do you recommend something else?
I love my wife Bloodless
Did you play through her game mode?
Yes. Hard as balls.

it wasnt bad, i liked the 2 retro games they made better though.
it is great
