Both Kotor and DAO are one trick ponies. Kotor has a really good twist at the end before that, the game is as generic as you can get. DAO has cool origin stories, after they are over the story goes to the same places seen 100 times before. The bethesda and bioware era of RPGs was the worst we ever have. They almost kill the genre completly and was only saved by kickstarter. Yes, we had some stinkers and we are not at the same level we were in the 90s, but we are closer than ever.
I've played just about every CRPG and BG 3 story and gameplay wise is 10 steps below anything in the genre outside of later bioware releases. Divinity 2 was twice as good and had better skill design. Baby's first ttrpg rule set is shit for video games and always has been.

I thought it was pretty bad the game has no answer for pickpocketing being so strong. You take like an extra 30 minutes in act 1 to set it up, and it completely breaks the entire economy for the entire rest of the game. A complete step backwards from even BG1.

Oh and I don't know what the iron jar is but for the goblin camp I just put cloud of blades on a chokepoint and watched the enemies suicide run into it. Did this to the gith in the creche too. Incredibly easy game. You can even stack crates and barrels to make your own choke points and enemies will not do anything about it.

That's not true at all, you can just leave companions out of dialog, switch to them in the interface, and then stack the barrels while your main character is in dialog. They can easily carry a couple barrels each.
Even if that were true, what, is it now ALSO an exploit that you can go to camp at any time completely consequence-free? What is an "exploit", anything you weren't smart enough to think of first or just plain don't like?
You can exploit most games if you search a broken tactic. In pathfinder, you can easily stack AC if you pick certain classes. In the old BG games, you could use summon monster in high difficulty and they would destroy everything.

Both are true. The gameplay is great. You can do all sort of things and use the enviroment to your advantage. The story is also great. It has an interesting premise, development and choices and consequences.
You can throw goblins at each other
You can use enemies as improvised weapons and bodyslam them into each other
Almost every fight has environmental features that you can use for AoE damage or CC
You can go full Great Weapon and just smash people to death
You can play like Thor and throw your hammer at people repeatedly while it flies back your hand
You can play like a dick and just snipe from the shadows
You can set up status effect combos for increased damage (i.e. wet effect into lightning damage)
You can abuse verticality and knock people to their death
Normally we call those things "gimmicks"

It's modified DnD 5e, my guy. It's nothing new. Not that challenging, the visual and audio feedback to spell effects are pretty good. Quest wise the major flaw is the story presenting a sense of urgency when there isn't one and in fact it's much better to take your time and explore, within reason.
It's a fairly light RPG mechanics wise and the focus is very clearly on the characters and story.

I won't argue that 5e isn't a simplified system versus 3.5e, but there isn't really a lot of of games that actually use all the systems of 3.5e. It's kind of just ToEE and KotC2 and that's it, and the latter is entirely in combat whereas the former is lacking critical mechanics. BG3 utilizes almost all of DnD's features. I think it could be argued that 5e being so dumb is what gave them a feasible framework to do this. Like DnD is a lot more than just fighting monsters, there are very autistic mechanisms in play that set rules for interacting with the world and BG3 has that.

The most recent example I've encountered while playing is that a goblin witch doctor wants to speak to your character alone and is clearly attempting to murder them. You can respond to this request by manually hiding your party in various locations in the room (rather than just a dialogue choice) and claiming they left, then jumping her when she locks the door. You simply cannot do shit like this in pathfinder, the systems just don't exist in those games. The only game that does work like this is ToEE, but it doesn't really give you the opportunity to use these tools.

Real time is just not tactical enough. In the pathfinder games it’s just my party group running into another party group and my tactics are all reactionary. Where as with turn-based I feel I can set the conditions a bit more. Both have their place sure. But I’ve heard it many times in regards to this game that every combat encounter feels meaningful. There isn’t so much filler. The Gauntlet bordered on some filler fights imo, but even then there was strong context. Not to mention the only people who like RTWP are those who need instant gratification. The some sort of people who are addicted to games like Call of Duty and Fortnight. Actual rpg fans who enjoy challenging gameplay are the ones loving the TB gameplay. Any of you fags saying you like Rtwp are just low attention spam fags.

I'd honestly call framerates dips at or below 20fps an "inherent flaw". Also PC is infinitely better with mods if you wanted to go that route and of course the control method of the DualSense is objectively worse for a CRPG that's actually a CRPG. Does anyone else feel like the boss fights in Act 3 are ridiculously difficult? Like I know boss fights aren't supposed to be easy and I know git gud, but I'm playing on explorer mode for a reason and these boss fights are so hard I'm getting a headache even after reading up on strategies. Like I'm trying to fight Cazador & no matter what I do my bard & Shadowheart end up super dead. I've been trying to do this fight for two hours. I know several people as well who are having to take long breaks with other playthroughs in earlier parts of the game just so they don't go nuts throwing themselves at the act 3 fights.
