This game is so fucking SHIT and abhorrent and offensively bad that it genuinely angers me seeing anyone say anything positive about it.

>inb4 seething snoy who swears he has a PC and isn't biased
Go get those snoys xbro!
>our big dick system seller really isn't just a mediocre piece of slop guys it's actually le snoys being cringe
>It's definitely not the Snoys! You're just a disgusting console warrior!
I’ll humor you.
What’s so bad about it, specifically, that torments you so?
I’m like 15-20 hours in and I would cite most aspects as mediocre, but not terrible.
I agree on the mediocre rating. Doesn't do anything really interesting but I can't say I was upset about it. Maybe if I had bought it I'd be more upset but since I just pirated it I'm not too upset about it. If anything, it's just tedious to do things. I can't just take off, I have to see the takeoff, then the landing, then exiting, just to walk to a tram to go to a building. It's never short and to the point. Also base building is pretty pointless since the entirety of research can be skipped without much lost. You can obtain pretty good armor just killing enemies.
You can fast travel everywhere, you know?
Your first point is patently false.
The outpost mechanic sucks dick tho, you’re right.
I loathe that boxes have carry weight.
God forbid I wanna collect suits helms and clothes.
Not everywhere. Certain ships and places won't let you fast travel, you have to manually go to your ship, undock it, then fast travel
The fact that you said undock clues me in that you are unaware of the fact that when you are in the pilots chair, fast travel is more restricted. If you get out of the chair it let's you fast travel so long as you aren't in combat- even docked with a space station. There are a few story areas that don't let you fast travel out.
If you dont have any contraband and there are no story events that must play you can fast travel to planet surface if you have already landed on it. Only space stations don't fast travel you right into them if you visited before. Which sucks cause you visit the eye constantly for temples.
>You can obtain pretty good armor just killing enemies
Why is it so difficult to understand that some people like customizing their weapons rather than making do with whatever enemies drop? Doing research isn't necessary. And if you do research, checking every thing that enemies drop isn't necessary.
What do you mean? I can fast travel from New Atlantis to Neon without any cut scenes
>What’s so bad about it, specifically, that torments you so?
Not OP but here's my take
>I’m like 15-20 hours in and I would cite most aspects as mediocre, but not terrible.
I'm 100 hours in
The gameplay loop is boring, the same thing all the time.
Freestar Mission Board = Go to a couple predictable dungeons, do a couple space battles, rinse and repeat.
The game is built around the idea that you can NG+ which is great I guess if you want to wait to do it until you have nothing left to do and want a fresh slate while keeping your skills.
But the problem is that you'll find yourself rushing the Freestar quest just to get the free ship, which then gets you thinking, well what's the point of that either?
And then it's not like any of the quests are THAT different, IE the Crimson Pirate / UC SysDef decision is exactly what you'd expect for each choice.
Not gonna lie though, despite the game's overall cartoonishly Reddit-like juvenile handling of the story, the only time the entire game made me feel a damn thing was when I betrayed UC SysDef and felt like the biggest piece of shit for doing it. Captain says he's going down with the ship and my response is to tell him that the families of the crew will have to pay for it and he's like "..You.. You wouldn't." No game has ever made me feel like such a villain.
But that's about as much credit as I can give it.
The core game loop is just boring as fuck once you realize it's the same shit with just slightly different visual toppings.
>I'm 100 hours in
>The gameplay loop is boring
It took me that long to realize how shallow the game actually is. I was holding onto hope that maybe there's just some uber cool endgame stuff locked behind research from the research lab but... it's not looking like it.
>despite the game's overall cartoonishly Reddit-like juvenile handling of the story,
Every bethesda game is like this. Fallout 4 is like a saint's row parody of Fallout. In 3, every character is reddit incarnate.
freestar is the only boring questline rest are decent to good
even the main quest is good for the first time except the temple hunting of course
The one thing to me that's offensively terrible is how it attempts to be deep and insightful with such a laughably forgettable conclusion. It's like 'wow, eternity, angels, infinity, alternate universes, life, death' and it all just falls flat since it's all delivered in the most flat and forgettable way possible. Like i bet my ass off no one remembers the name of the condom hat religion the anoying constelation fella is part of
Writing is bad. Every character feels like it was written by reddit addicted post modern acedemic leftists with no curiosity on how working class or the trades talk to each other.
sirs, have done the needful today?

cool, you want a medal or some validation you reddit piece of shit
Reddit loves Slopflop though, so I suggest you go back there.
I'm sorry you have a short attention span.
this game is utter shit
gamebryo will be the downfall of bethesda
Am I the only one or did vanilla Skyrim at launch really have more handcrafted content?
I'm 85 hours into Starfield and I have 100%ed it. Don't get me wrong vanilla Skyrim was also a shallow as fuck game but at least there was more unique shit to see and find.
I'm just 15h in and I think it has far more content than even Skyrim with all the DLCs. Fuck fighting the same dragon over and over.
It does feel like there's barely any side quests, after 40 hours I'm struggling to find anything to do.
Have you gone to Indix or whatever, and done the reformed criminals questline?
>getting mad that people like something
Anon, do you not have anything else going on in your life?
it's amazing. I didn't like it at first but gave it a chance. I think a lot of gamers are used to instant gratification but starfield makes you pay attention, there's no landmarks in a lot of places so you have to remember locations via landmarks you see and explore particularly in cities. All of the cool shit like slowing down time in fights and igniting/knocking down enemies with your boost pack, advanced ship/gear/outpost design, large ship crews is locked behind the skill tree which takes a long time to unlock. You can really make your own adventures, I left my crew behind and took only sarah in a small ship I acquired similar to the fire spray from a side quest inspired by bobba fett to a remote planet to face her past, resulting in an unexpected turn of events and she's now my in game gf.
It has its faults but I don't expect it not to given the scope and size of the game, a lot of complaints like you can't fast travel and ai is bad are clearly from people who haven't played it. ai will flank, run if their buddies have all been killed and move to cover/look for advantageous positioning. Fast travel is possible from nearly anywhere and the loading isn't a major issue if you're using nvme.
80 hours in and have barely touched the main or side quests, if you immerse yourself in the game and take your time it's one of the best games you'll ever play although given the current meta of instant and constant dopamine hits I can see why a lot don't like it.
Can't wait for some of the mods that will come out for this
When you compare what is, to what could have been, that's when you really start to realize how bad the game is. Can it entertain you for a few hours while you waste what little time you have on God's green Earth? Sure. But it could have been something really great.
post hours played
I doubt you even own the game
I like the humor. This is a pretty funny thing to say to somebody who is badly injured.
>itoddler likes cringe writing
what a surprise
I play for she
no fake android shit illusion
yumola
state of play is not a game
>-10/10 not enough gay bears - ign
if it makes you feel better the 24 hr steam peak is already below 200k and you have to assume gamepass is the same, if not worse since they didn’t spend $100
I like it
It's a mess
I love this game because it makes you mad.
>i eat shit, aren't you mad
lol
>you're mad so I am glad to eat shit
l m a o
Found OP's metacritic
>disgusting run of the mill ui
>bullet sponges x retarded ai combo
nah fuck that garbage, quit after killing the pirate captain
>inb4 it gets better after 100 hours
Filtered
OP is 14 and played his first not-so-great game
Sounds healthy
The reason people are shitting themselves over Starfield is because its neither good nor bad. Its just 'fine' and this concept completely breaks the internet which is entirely based upon ultimate statements
>Whats the best farming game?
>Whats the most alive shooter right now?
>Which MMO is the best?
>Which space game does X the best?
>Why did X flop so hard?
>Why is this genre so shit?
Starfield isn't bad, its a lot of fun especially the combat which is much improved and 0g content which is hella fun, but its also a clunky buggy shit and of course Bethesda lied its not a new engine/improved engine its just Skyrim in space. It can be both.
Played 15 hours and that was all I could take. God fucking help you if you want to play an evil character. The main story is abhorrent, filled with the same FO4 shit dialogue options of Yes, No (Yes), Sarcastic (Yes), and Ask Question. Complete trash, it's so insufferably bad I can't believe it.
So I did the Crimson Fleet questline and that was also shitty beyond belief. Perhaps the worst quest chain ever devised in the history of mankind.
>punch a civilian in the face
>everyone in the city freaks out and runs away
>every cop starts shooting at me
>stand still for a few seconds until I'm finally arrested
>instead of paying a fine, the cops send me into space, put me on a military spaceship, and force me to infiltrate the biggest crime syndicate in the galaxy
>they send a criminal to spy on space pirates and expect me not to join them
>the game FORCES you to constantly go back to the military ship after each quest to provide them with updates - you can't elect to just not tell them
>the only way out is to kill civilians during the quests - they somehow know I killed everyone in Neon, but they don't know what about the conversations I'm having with the Crimson Fleet? What the fuck?
>when the head honcho puts you under arrest, if you resist and try to kill him the game doesn't let you - you can't kill him because how else are you supposed to have the bombastic confrontation between both factions at the end?
>even though I shot the fucker in the head and left the ship, he wakes up and takes control of the level 100 spaceship to shoot me down as I save scum my ass off to warp out of the system
Game is fucking garbage. Horrible in every conceivable way.
>me with Elden Ring
I'm enjoying it way more than Skyrim and way way way more than boring ass open world zelda. Not perfect by any stretch of the word but a solid 8 IMO.
To be fair the Larry Dumbrovsky (bottom-most) your intel is that he likes to use unnecessarily convoluted language to sound smart, so this would resonate with him, but yeah the Reddit-tier writing is all over the game and is awful.
Even the biggest shills like brotherman have said it's a bad game. lmao.
