Sarah was just disappointing, they already did the "they're too innocent to live in this world" trope I wanted to be able to save her. But whatever if they want to kill her off anyways at least have the game punish you for keeping her alive, like she fricks up and gets someone herself & someone else killed because that felt like the point of the character--instead she dies 30 minutes after she became determinate due to a pure fluke

    S2 and 400 Days killed my interest in the series and I never ended up playing S3 or S4. Personally my beef was;

    >Everyone relying on the main character to do absolutely everything felt even more ridiculous when the main character was a twelve year old
    >Railroading was even more obvious (notably stuff like saving Sarah just so she could stand around in scenes totally silent and then die in a different way fifty minutes later, or the Russian kid convincing Mike and Bonnie you're evil and shooting you no matter how nice you were to him)
    >Punished Kenny was the best part by a wide margin, which is just leaning on people's good feelings for a S1 character rather than coming up with anything new; Kenny carries the whole second half of the game, the S2 characters couldn't carry a feather
    >Edgy Clem was only a thing for the first episode and was dropped after that

luke vs kenny would've been 100 times better and more memorable than what we got. the decision would've been tougher because luke isn't a psycho like jane and is genuinely trustworthy. it would've been a much harder option to shoot or not shoot kenny in that scenario

            >luke vs kenny would've been 100 times better and more memorable than what we got.
This. Luke being more chill and level headed with a potentially worse idea vs Kenny who is being an unstable ass, but has the better idea would have been better.

i didn't care for the mexican family or any of the side characters. you know how kenny being in season 2 made you care way more about what was happening? clem is that in season 3 but amplified by 10. if she weren't in the game there would not be a single reason to remember or give a frick about it

      Anonymous

i don't like it because it's bad. the first two episodes were pretty good but then they started throwing the towel in especially after episode 4, you can tell they thought the only value they had was "HEY I KNOW THAT GUY FROM THE FIRST GAME!!!" aka Kenny so they just shoved him down our throat with this shitty retelling of his S1 arc I got SICK of his b***hing & whining

and then they have the gall to try and make us believe Kenny beating the handicap gay who tried to kill us all was some horrible thing that justifies Bonnie & Mike, two rational normal nice people up till this point, taking all our supplies leaving the baby to die. the characters are all moronic they look at this small frozen lake and somehow come to the conclusion "we can't go around it" as if it's a magical infinite lake so they can have their predictable Final Destination death for Luke.

the characters in S1 were so much better and so much more real feeling. a character like Ben is how you do the "frick up" character compared to someone like Nick who quickly became a disposable determinate character. and then there's Rebecca who just becomes a totally different person between episodes 1 & 2. there's no justification for
Jane either she got the "Bonnie treatment" at the end of EP5

but then you have this...Season 3 almost makes Season 2 look good. Eleanor is like Bonnie on crack worst character in the franchise. S4 is the only competition for S1.

The only thing memorable about season 2 was Jane being an autistic turbob***h and Clem clearly wanting to frick that white dude that drowns in the ice. I don't remember anything from the story past the opening where Clem finds Kenny, I don't remember where they're going or why, I can't remember any of the characters' names.
Season 1 was pretty much back to back memorable moments and really well written characters that were always set up to make you either fricking love them or hate them. Any time you played it middle of the road you got fricked in the ass by characters like Ben, or unresolved situations would turn around to bite you in the ass because you didn't take decisive action. It's pulpy and unrealistic, but it's much more memorable since it pushes you to take hard stances especially on replays.

      Anonymous

Also playing as Clem as young as she is doesn't make what's happening in the story feel like your fault or responsibility. It makes all the adults feel like ignorant morons that need a 12 year old girl to tell them what to do. You can't be both helpless and have the horror stem from that AND be the one making all the decisions, it conflicts with itself. Lee worked so well because you were totally in control and competent up until other characters started contradicting you, but you couldn't just say 'frick em' because you needed to protect Clem.
Season 2 should have been about you playing as either Luke or Kenny (frick Jane delete Jane from the story) and have Clem start having more autonomy, so now you've got to balance the other survivors' safety with your bias towards protecting Clem AND dealing with Clem sometimes going out and doing dangerous shit on her own more. If it had been more competently written then the ending decision between who to shoot could have been totally out of the players' control as Clem would make her own decision based on the sum total of the player's choices, and then when we go into Season 3 Clem is a fully realized independent character and THEN she should be playable.

It has a couple good moments but overall it's far too disjointed to have much impact. You can tell that they had zero plan going into it and every writer wanted to do something different.
    >Omid's dead and Christa is gone, here are your new companions
    >actually frick the new guys here's Kenny again you like Kenny right?
    >ok here's the main villain look how evil he is he's got a huge compound and that chick from the dlc is working for him wow we're really building him up ooh he might be the baby's father too
    >actually frick that he's dead now and the compound is fricked so all those plot threads go nowhere
    >but ooh look we've got this cool new chick Jane and oh no Kenny's girlfriend is bit time to find out if amputation can actually save her
    >lmao no the girlfriend is dead anyway
    >also hey remember that guy Nick who you've been working hard to keep alive yeah he's dead too but oh no look scary Russians are gonna kill everyone
    >ok so the Russians killed nobody and weren't really a threat at all
    >also the last member of the new cast for the season dies in an especially moronic way that doesn't matter so they were all completely fricking worthless additions
    >oh my god the finale is Jane vs. Kenny two characters who have barely said anything to each other up until now truly the showdown that nobody fricking wanted so let's watch both of them go full moron and then kill the one you like the least I guess
The first game worked because everything you did impacted Clem in some way. Even if you hated all the other characters, as long as you cared for Clem the story would work, and despite few of your choices meaning anything at all in terms of plot, they mattered to Clem, so it felt like they mattered to you. It had cohesion, telling a full story. There's no point to season 2. There's no character or overall theme that really matters.

i always like season 2 for how much darker it took the series, if anything was thinking since we playing as kid we won't see too much fricked up shit, season 3 did drop the ball imo

    >most character don't have a character arc
    >those that do just disappear once it's finished
    >generic 'evil faction that keeps slaves' cliché
    >everyone relies on the 11 year old for everything
    >they also trust her unconditionally
    >in episode 2 the writers almost forget the cabin crew in favor of Kenny and "hey remember how much you enjoyed season 1?"
    >this never ends
    >kenny/jane fight always occur despite having plenty of options to tell off kenny/jane up until that point
    >despite kenny being so imporant no one talks to kenny, they talk to you who talks to kenny for them
    It sucks.
