hard to say because we know too little about it which is honestly baffling, I think some of the mechanics have immense potential but since we don't know the specifics of how it works and how it synergizes with the world design it sounds like baseless speculation for the moment

one thing is for sure it'll be impossible to discuss this game earnestly in this shithole

Improvements that I hope they do in this game :
    better combat mechanics
    unique weapons and no durability
    more mobs and bosses variety
actual explorable dungeons and less 10 y/o copypasta puzzle bullshit

      >no durability
Why? Durability inventivizes the player to experiment and also take environmental approaches to combat. It also makes it so that you can't just go straight to the most powerful weapons in the game right from the beginning. Weapon durability should stay.

expriment with what ? the game is not that complexe , not that it needed to because it's targeted at children
        unless you meant "strategize"
anyway , in all honesty this is my bias
the weapons are all very similar , literal reskins of each other
the durability system made me stop engaging with mobs cause all you do is kill mobs and pick their weapons for the next group , all while hoarding the powerful gear for that one encounter you may never get

        >can't just go straight to the most powerful weapons in the game right from the beginning
Was never a problem that needed solving.
The only reason botw has durability is because it was the laziest easiest way to pad out their world with things to find because they have little else. Seeds feed into it too and they're the bulk of what you find. It makes everything stagnant and unsatisfying.

you can rationalize it by the fact the first game was such a giant hit they probably think they don't need much marketing to sell people on the sequel and the charitable interpretation is that they don't want to spoil the surprise of the new content for the players, I don't think it makes much sense to argue they don't show things because they have nothing to show, it's obvious they have more new mechanics and places to demonstrate than the meagre minute of gameplay we've seen

This is why I don't get the hyping of the game based on how little Nintendo has shown because there isn't anything to hype and based on the series' track record, it's too soon to say Nintendo has the series back on track just because of one good game and that it won't disappoint like it has done for most of the games in the series. The game's perception entirely lives and dies by BOTW's reputation and it's going to be judged that way too which is why people who think it will receive anything in the 90s like last time are fooling themselves. Seriously, where is Shazam when you actually need him? Frick the people who killed him off because of Elden Ring.

Course it will be and it will cause endless seething. Here is the list of complaints in advance by the way.
    >Durability is STILL in. Why? I can't believe I still have to deal with a fricking metal sword being destroyed in fifteen hits. I use five weapons to kill enemies that only give me one in return
    >They didn't improve the variety of enemies. Still fighting mostly humanoid enemies because they need to drop weapons for you
    >Dungeon items don't exist. You just get a modification for a rune at the start and use that to progress. Dungeons can also be done in any order, so you don't get combination puzzles requiring multiple runes
and for the outside of Ganker complaints
    >Zelda captured by Ganon at the start, she isn't playable
    >Too many collectables, why do I need to get Korok seeds again?

The BOTW slow information drip worked because it was clear that the game they were making was completely new and fresh, and that was exciting. Trying to do the same thing with this game is anti-hype because what they've released so far makes the game look like a glorified DLC pack for an existing game (which is exactly what it began its life as).

6 fricking years for botw with sky islands instead of shrines. Nintendo not only gets away with shit like this, but sells a gorillion units and has people claim it's the most anticipated game of the year. I hate normalgays and women so much it's unreal.

      Anonymous

I think most people are disappointed with how the game has been shown currently, the anticipation comes from wanting to see what else there is
You also have to remember most Nintendo fans don't play other games so this has been their next big thing to look forward to for years

        Anonymous

The thing is that what has been shown suggests either a lack of creativity or that the game is held back by the Switch's hardware limitations. Nothing they've shown so far screams "new game" rather than "DLC pack", much less "new game with 6 years of development time".

idk the object-rewinding ability looks pretty cool tbqh

Is that enough to carry a whole game? I don't think so. I know there are also sky islands, but I already played Skyward Sword. The rest of the overworld looks reused.

Literally the only people who complain about durability are people who can't think outside the box for a second.

Durability would have been fine if GOOD weapons were harder to come by, the game had more of them and if the game had given you the option to keep and repair broken items.

This is what I don't get. Zelda combat has never been especially fun outside of bosses or stuff like Stalfos/Darknuts, BOTW already blows every other game out of the water just by virtue of actually having some fricking depth, even if it's still not even that great. If you don't like BOTW's combat, then why did you like the combat in any other Zelda game?

            >durability is good because you can try to avoid it
            Cool

            >"durability is bad because my weapon breaks"

              >Zelda combat has never been especially fun outside of bosses or stuff like Stalfos/Darknuts
Prior Zelda's had progression and variety with their enemies that you had to overcome and so were innately rewarding. They also treated many of them more like puzzles. You weren't fighting stalkids 90% of the time like do you bokoblins in BotW.

              >If you don't like BOTW's combat, then why did you like the combat in any other Zelda game?
Not that anon but BotW's basic melee combat feels extremely rigid/stiff, and the lack of unique items for weaknesses or additional moves like horizontal swipes and stabs makes it come across as more basic than combat in the previous games, at least when it comes to your standard melee encounters. Older 3D Zeldas didn't have complex combat by any means but the variety of enemies combined with the amount of attacks Link could do made engaging in fights fun, whereas BotW only has a handful of the same enemies with a very limited attack pool

                Anonymous

Zelda combat has regressed so far from Twilight Princess it's embarassing. And TP wasn't even that in-depth.

                >but the variety of enemies
Visual variety, but the actual variety is comparable to BotW where enemies either run into you for damage, hit you with a close-range attack, or hit you with a long-range attack.
                >amount of attacks Link could do made engaging in fights fun
The argument that people lay against botw can be laid against older zeldas: why do any of the other stuff when hitting them normally or with the item of the week does just fine?

                Anonymous

                >Visual variety, but the actual variety is comparable to BotW where enemies either run into you for damage, hit you with a close-range attack, or hit you with a long-range attack.
That's a massive over-simplification that ignores how enemies might be reliant on specific terrain or require unique items to overcome an obstacle. They were more simple overall but offered a larger amount of unique encounters
                >why do any of the other stuff when hitting them normally or with the item of the week does just fine?
Because it's fun to do so, and in the old games you actually had to engage in combat and skipping it wasn't a viable or preferable alternative, so naturally you want to make the most of fights you get into. BotW's combat is detrimental past a certain point because you're going to lose more than you gain from engaging in it, and while you can experiment with the game's physics and systems 99% of the time it's on you to make things more engaging with a gaggle of enemies you've already encountered 20 times up to that point
