Ive never played it but it looks like a grindfest
it doesn't
you never played it
Oh wait that’s the one with the Fossil Fighters mini game. My point still stands because Dino FF has a better battle system. I am not playing worse Fossil Fighters because greymon is in it. I have tamagotchis with greymon so I can get my fix.
k
Outclassed by the tamagotchi and other jrpgs.
Because it only got a fan translation in the past few months so 99.999% of Ganker hasn't played it, myself included
What makes it better then Story 1 DS and Dusk/dawn?
It is just like those games, but better in a lot of mechanical and balance aspects. No more Species EXP to filter people and Digivolutions act sort of like level gating so you're never accidentally too strong, for example. Storyline and random NPC's spread around are pure kino if you remember the previous games, and the postgame is pretty ridiculously strong which is nice. Characters are kinda funny. Best girl is cute. Just overall a more polished experience.
>species EXP
Whoever had a problem with that? I'm not defending it, but I still don't get how this is a problem. I did keep my squad unchanged as I played though.
It is one of the things always listed for why these games are supposedly "unplayable" or whatever the meme was, similar to how the dungeons are mazes. The Species EXP complaint of course never made any sense because whether you have to farm 6000 EXP or 6000 Bird EXP it's functionally the same experience.
It’s only the same if you are grinding for it. If you are not it’s annoying because if you want to evolve your mon you have to make a detour or set it in the farm for a while.
Honestly what good does it bring? What benefits does its existence have?
>Honestly what good does it bring?
It is thematically appropriate to the franchise, arguably one of the most lore accurate mechanics to date outside of Digivolution itself.
>What benefits does its existence have?
It prevents situations like Cyber Sleuth where leveling up becomes standing in a single position, activating an ability to instantly get a battle, auto battling that fight, and repeating ad naseaum. Variety is still variety, no matter how small. All while not taking anything away because despite people's claims, it isn't detrimental either.
Yes. Grinding is bad. Which is why digimon story games suck.
Why do you even play Digimon games and browse the threads then? You're really a miserable sap.
i'm a tendie shill
my entire purpose in life is shit on non-Nintend𐐬 games and shill Nintend𐐬 games, in this case, Pokemon
>Honestly what good does it bring?
it's simple
>battle birb mon
>digimon absorbs birb data and evolves into birb
use the farm a little bit.
defending grinding is bad.
>people hated stat grinding in DW1 (bonus try slots are actually more efficient but the fact that they are rigged to work only 40% of the time (10% for golden poops) and the game doesn't even mention it made 99% of people ignore them). not to mention how much of a mood killer it is that game progress is suddenly halted when you're forced to train your new mon almost from scratch after the old one dies (but at least there are ways to extend lifespans indefinitely)
>the level cap+DNA system that reverts your mon to previous generations in DW2 turned a lot of people off (among other problems like slow as fuck battles)
>in DW3, skill point grinding is even worse than EXP grinding. unlocking the evo tree ends up being drastically slower than grinding to LV40, and the only enemy that always gives 10 DV EXP regardless of your level (the max you can get per battle) is black scorpiomon
>DW4's front-loaded grinding turns a lot of people off (first 10 weapon skill points are hell, your pitiful stats early game mean you die in 2~3 hits)
>etc.
>want to get tyrannomon
>have to grind rarer mobs in the starting zone or wait til much later in the story to get him
>evolves from GOBLINMON
dropped DS right there and then
>spoiler
CARLOOOS
Story is slightly better, gameplay is slightly faster, basically is Dusk/Dawn but better
encounter rate too high, got bored after a few side missions
>best digimon game
no
>annoying as fuck to navigate menus. no presets, no options to keep items on, you NEED to re-equip your party after taking them to the farm and back, making it an absolute chore.
>cookie-cutter plot with protagonist that someone ends up overtaking the entire cast
>need to do quests ONE BY ONE
>stupid chests that force you to backtrack after you progress in the story. wouldn't be so painful if not for the CONSTANT ENCOUNTERS interrupting you every fucking screen, without any repels
>need another DS to match and create eggs
>combat is generic as fuck. mons don't have special attacks so they all feel the same. you can't tell who's strong or weak to what or anything, nor how much "30 extra offense" affects your damage, etc.
the one good thing is they added dotfalcomon to help cut down on the grind, and the chocolates or whatever to lower fatigue (although navigating menus is still an absolute hassle). sprites, soundtrack, and maps are quite soulful too.
Ah shit, that was for the original Digimon Story. Didn't check that was Lost Evo. Haven't played it yet so I can't comment.
>encounter rate too high
If you're willing to enable cheats, there are codes that let you toggle random encounters.
>nobody in Ganker ever played the game
shame
Digimon story are literally all bog standard JRPGs with nothing to offer besides the mons
Cyber slueth was OK, i really want to believe the next one will actually be good. It feels like digimon games have not had a fucking ounce of ingenuity or originality since World 1
>Digimon story are literally all bog standard JRPGs with nothing to offer besides the mons
just like Pokemon and Ganker worships that series
I’m not Ganker, i’m an adult male who stopped playing pokemon years ago
Cyber Sleuth has a solid story and standard JRPG gameplay.
The issue is that rather than committing to the formula it and re:DIGItize Decode set of commiting to the Story and World games, they introduced Survive which while it did well apparently, it's just some Tactics ish JRPG that will probably not resonate with people who prefer Square Enix shit.
Lost evolution is fucking awful
You can tell how fucking full retard the devs went, it's insane
Gaomon best boy.
That is all.
>plates
no
so is the game fun or not? does it still have the retarded system where you have to re-equip your party every time you train them at the farm?
