For all of Fallout 4's retardations, at least it had somewhat charming companions, dense environments you can all explore on foot, hubs weren't an eyesore and a headache to explore, and the enemy design allowed for an illusion of decent action. Starfield is worse at all of this. I get if somebody likes the Starfield setting or dialogue or silent protagonist more, but I'm utterly confused by people who think it does action better.
Yes, mods for FO4 could always build on the world already there. In SF I don't know what people will do. Maybe make more generic ship and station parts then do an Event Horizon mod or something.
You're right, but I was referring to in universe stuff. Sure, porting/reimagining shit is always good considering the base universe is generic as fuck.

I mean the setting is so general that you could add anything and it would fit in fine for the most part. Lead writers pretty much said the world is just a mish mash of sci-fi tropes. Space ships, alien creatures, mechs, cloning, xenowarfare, time travel, multiverses, sentient AI, robotics is all canon within universe

Out of any other Bethesda game, starfield is most like oblivion. Oblivion went for a very generic fantasy setting look compared to Morrowind and Skyrim. The weird faces, the adoring fan, the hard close up camera angles for conversations, different lockpicking, slightly more in-depth persuasion minigame, grabbing but not picking up items considered stealing again, Star Trek voice actors. I think Todd was feeling really nostalgic for Oblivion as he made Starfield.

>no exploration >soulless guilds >no radiant AI, or even routines/schedules >NPCs don't travel to different towns
It's nothing like Oblivion. It's closest to FO76
Played both, starfield has far better combat. It has better movement options with different kinds of jetpacks, mantling, and a combat slide, add in the starborn powers, different gravities, zero-g combat and how different weapon types affect push back. The AI is about the same for FO4 and starfield, with the exception that the AI will jump around to different elevations with their jetpacks.
>better combat
sure >better factions
not sure if better but certainly more >better environments
NASAslop is way more souless than atompunk and the rest is boring barren planets. Akila and Neon are interesting but only because they were stolen ideas since Bethesda is creatively bankrupt. >exploration
lmao
i'll elaborate and say the combat is better but in a 'this is to be expected' way given how many years it's been, its not thaat different especially if you applied some mods to fo4.
Saying it has better exploration is a joke though, yeah just run around soulless proc-gen worlds for 2-600 meters because Bethesda cant implement vehicles while a few autists who made Fallout frontier could, to discover copypasted outposts with the same spacers/pirates, boring caves or geological features.
Akila is retarded. >be post scarcity, prefab 3dprinted civilization >most historic town which was the hot spot of a new human settlement has plank and mud roads as their entry ways from the spaceport. >this is still the case 160 years later when the game takes place >everyone acts like they are still in the wild west.
im convinced akila is just wild west disney land and you werent supposed to kill the bank robbers with your guns which they didnt want you to take into their attraction in the first place.
Yeah it's retarded, even without actual paving that road should have been stamped flat from all the people walking on it, they could have just done some actual brand new colony to have that aesthetic elsewhere >your guns which they didnt want you to take into their attraction in the first place
Why the fuck are there no firearms restrictions in New Atlantis, they even seemed like they wanted to go somewhere with some sort of firearms debate stuff with the one arms dealer in akila talking about people buying her guns and then going on shooting sprees

Those gun laws literally made no difference, New Zealand featured a deline in firearm related violence on par with Australia without any firearm control laws until Ironically that Australian guy shot up a bunch of Shitslamists, outside of that blip the data exists that shows that firearm control only creates a negative impact on the economy and personal rights and doesn't increase safety or even long term perception of safety.

100% agree, wrote a paper on this very subject back when I was studying Law. The idea of seeking to ban violent acts by targeting the tools used to commit said acts is fundamentally flawed and only causes a shift into various other means. The primary result of the gun ban in Australia saw a decrease in gun violence yes, but an increase in knife crime and hangings(most gun deaths were due to suicide) by a directly proportional amount.
Well to begin with the united colonies isn't the united states and even if it was the supposed rights clearly don't count for shit you have entire government agencies whos job it is to violate that right.

which I wonder if maybe that's why they pussied out on having firearms restrictions for the UC, if they checked you for guns on entry the game would have to include a way to bypass it, and if you can bypass it in game that might get people thinking about how easy they are to bypass IRL

Probably too hard for them to code or didn't want to put any impediment in the way of their all important main quest line.

Literally how? There is nothing more boring in Starfield than fighting enemies. Their AI is terrible. You do not remember Fallout 4 combat at all if you think it's that fucking boring. There is more choreography and handwork in kiting a deathclaw than there is in any Starfield fight.
>big rectangle guns
HAHAHAHA No fucking way. They still use this dogshit institute rifle design? What the fuck is wrong with these people? ahahahahahahahaha
Bethesda couldn't even program jetpacks properly. You lose all forwards momentum like a second and a half after you boost, even in 0.01g. Absolutely inexcusable, especially when it takes so fucking long to get anywhere.
>minigun >taking 5 rads/sec >still using combat armor
I can tell youre pretty low level here and this is bait. Heavy weapons are an end-game build. You need some kind of legendary mini that ups the base damage, like wounding or junkies, ideally explosive obviously but they're pretty rare. Thats why its endgame because by then youve got all the 5mm saved up and all the money in the world to throw at vendors and youve had your fair share of legendary spawns.
I didn't give a shit about preparation for the rad sea or about builds, anon. It was just recorded as a quick showcase of why Fallout 4's combat is at least somewhat engaging compared to Starfield's.
Its a mechanical improvement over fallout 4, but it pivoted towards no mans sky for exploration and some bethesdoids dont appreciate that. You got better dialogue, combat, perks (and their dialogue impact), evolution of settlements into outposts/ship design. Game mechanics have improved over f4, factually. Things like exploration are up for interpretation - there is plenty more to explore physically, but its arguably less meaningful than preset unique locations on a limited world map. There are also unique locations in starfield, but theyre watered down with randomly placed repeating POIs. The factions are hardly better - there is no real "joining" the faction in SF. It has a dialogue effect in some quests, but you can still join allegedly opposing factions, and there isnt really an either/or, plus the faction quest lines are dealing with side issues that have little bearing on the faction itself. The only exemption is the crimson fleet line, but even though you can technically side against them and eliminate them, its not on the level of picking sides in F4. Not to mention that with NG+ being intended lore-wise takes away the permanency of any choices you make.
Nah, the AI in starfield is some of the worst I've ever seen. I'm disengaged from the game as a result that shit like better factions and environments doesn't matter when the core gameplay is so bad.
>Fallout has exploration
No tard, you speeding across the map trying to not get one shotted by bandits way above your level just to get to an empty warehouse with nothing to explore doesn't count as exploration.
the irony is that the dialogue in starfield is way more enjoyable for me than fallout 4 simply because the MC isn't voiced
but at this point I have no idea if it was a decision based on player immersion or if they wanted to cut corners like with most of the game
