The old "I don't want to play MMOs because they are a second job that does not pay" is now actually true. Back in the Pre WoD days you could be technically done at a certain point. There was dailies but once you hit exalted(if you wanted cosmetics) you were done, there was no "paragon" levels to rep. There was no AP that you needed to collect X amount every day to ensure you get some form of player power "on time". there was no running 5 mans over and over again. Now in days if you want to raid/pvp you MUST keep up with your daily/weekly allotment of progress or you WILL fall behind.

This is what killed the game for me. I saw it starting back in MoP with the legendary cloak. Back in Wrath and Cata, I had a bunch of alts that I could be competitive on just by getting dungeon gear and doing occasional raids on them if I felt like it. Suddenly in MoP, if I didn't have a cloak that I'd had to grind LFR for, that alt was now completely non-competitive. So I ended up just sticking to my main. I'd still level alts, but I'd just dungeon gear them and then shelf them, because I did not want to deal with each expansion's endless cloak/ring/artifact/azerite/whatever grind. All the systems on top of systems just to get you to log on every day ruined the game. Wrath/Cata were the highest subbed time of the game, and all they had was a gear grind, you don't need anything else.
