Yeah, I'm at the start and I find no reason to 'dodge' (the flash-step button). Like, it's irrelevant to combat, you want to parry the enemies.
AGAINST BOSSES maybe you'd want to dodge and whittle then down with basic attacks since parrying then is harder and riskier, but guess what, bosses only due to parry so you're wasting your time if you dodge then or jump or whatever.

wo long was mediocre, obviously a b-team game while the primary effort is given to the ronin game they're making next
it's cool, and it has some mechanical advantages over sekiro, but everything else is worse. The weapon diversity is weak, everything pretty much plays the same. The graphics are good, but the art direction is pretty ugly. The writing is absolutely awful.
Meanwhile sekiro is kino, actually has an interesting and beautiful world, good characters and writing, and the bosses are properly designed around the players abilities.
Plus isshin is a better fight than anything in wo long, by far.

it would be like playing sekiro with a bunch of katanas with slightly different stats. Sure you can call it weapon diversity, but it doesn't offer any meaningful gameplay advantage. Really the whole equipment system in wo long is a waste of time, at least in nioh the rpg mechanics are actually important late game.
