It's a bad ability, it was only ever worth it for Dynamaxes.
If you have hone claws and/or wide lens, in theory it's tolerable. But its distribution is so bizarre you end up with a bunch of special attackers that never use it, a bunch of NFEs that nobody gives a shit about, and hyperoffensive physical attackers that just miss and die to a sneeze in return. Even the hone claws users have a hard time with it: durant dies to a neutral surf, a-raticate has to play mind games inside mind games to land a single sucker punch, and then just dies to mach punch for free.
And all of it for a 50% boost. A testament to how real power creep is, ever since hustle's introduction (and even fucking before it) we've gotten so many abilities that offer the same boost with less of a drawback.

It didn’t really save him
When your a normal person and not a comp shitter, hustle arial ace, double edge and brave bird are massive damage dealers.
You literally only lose 20% accuracy on your physical moves in exchange for a 50% power increase. The reward outweighs the risk.
With Pokemon, the accuracy drop kicks in only when it matters, while the x1.5 Atk needs to 66.5% normally to OHKO, 33.5% normally to 2HKO, ect.
Not to say x1.5 isn’t impactful, but when you already do enough damage to KO, it basically doesn’t matter.

accuracy, crits and rolls are the worst parts of pokemon (freeze would be up there if it was more common); hustle may be a good ability on paper, but I hate to get it in randbats and it was viable only in dynamax formats

In my experience, hone claws LO durant is (was) the most reliable hustle user in randbats, so I'll take HC every single time over SD when it comes to hustle. DD flapple is shit (CB flapple even worse), delibird loses on the only set of value it has (rapid spin, freeze dry, spikes) just for a brave bird that doesn't kill shit, a-raticate was painful, best squawkabilly set is guts, dracozolt was only good if scarf and dynamaxed, and finally h-lilligant barely gets a chance to set up (and dies the moment misses).
what I meant is that I prefer a mon with no ability + sword dance, than hustle + hone claws anon
this is probably a bad opinion but I think that random crits should only be possible on certain moves and/or if crit rate is raised (so instead of "raises critical hit rate" it becomes "enables critical hits", or "has a hit crit rate" becomes "can deal critical hits"

Ignoring the ones that are deliberate gimps (truant, slow start, defeatist, klutz, etc.) i think it’s my least favourite ability, because it just feels like shit when you’re forced to take another turn. And this is on theoretically half (but i think there are more male mons than females with trainers , so probably like 40-60 % depending on which sex your mon is) so it’s happening even more frequently than the 20% miss rate with Hustle. And your rewards are worse (25% damage instead of 50%) and you can’t cheese it with moves like aerial ace
It’s a risky ability that has good payoff for damage.
Squakabilly for example has a very massive damage output with Brave Bird and Double Edge, despite there being stronger Pokémon, they don’t usually have access to strong STAB moves.
Granted, it will %90 of the time kill him, but hey, it works
