Remakes I can kind of get, it's not supposed to be the old game, but a vastly different interpretation. But why buy a shit edition of a game thats perfectly fine like OP?

Why not just emulate the PS2 version?
Remasters tend to be cleaner, more crisp and clear, more responsive and have higher FPS. Usually the art takes a hit but if you're not turbo autistic you will just roll with it, because normal people don't get hyper-fixated on something even if they don't like it. It's called tolerance.

in FFX's case, however, the menu responsiveness was fucked due to the whole game now running at 30FPS. The PS2 version could run the game at 30FPS but the menus at 60FPS. That made them very responsive and smooth. Same shit when all the PS1 FFs where ported to PC (and other consoles down the line). Plus, the UI is soulless.
FFXHD has some good things like fast forwarding for grinding, but the PS2 is still better in many ways.
Convenience. Sure, buying a PS3 for Skyrim is retarded because the game got released on modern hardware but some games are restricted to certain generations that it's impossible for some people to buy them and that's where remasters come in.
Because most of the people who demand remasters are casuals or newfags and their first console was a ps3 or a 360, or probably switch/pcfags who are so obsessed with their shitty platform they beg for ports of every game imaginable but most of the time they don't buy them anyway

I heard they gave it to some Chinese studio, lowest passable bidder kind of thing. I remember them pushing the "Emotion Engine" so hard at launch, and FFX's facial animations were a showpiece for them. SE has done a lot to show us how much they care about their games.

Meh, I never much cared for how Yuna looked in X anyway, and I'd only care what Tidus looked like if I was a woman or gay. As long as Rikku still looks ok, I'm fine with it, and she seems to be ok.

This thread has made me refund the game on Steam, I had purchased it a while ago to play through again while waiting for XVI. Is there any other PC port I should be aware of that is complete ass? I'm about a quarter through the PR versions of the SNES games and those seem great thus far, I really like the reorchestrated music.
