Also that Hellsguard in charge of the mining operations in Ul'dah has an Aerslanti name as does his son, and there's that sea wolf in the Gridanian Bar who has a translated name. So there's crossover. Probably like with lalafells where the clans tend to interbreed which causes these discrepencies.

Nah, like you said Hellsguard have the same names, only translated. That's because Hellsguard tend to work as mercenaries so they just gave themselves easier names for their employers to pronounce. Fyrgeiss uses the Aerslaenti name because he doesn't want to abandon his roots for anyone.

I've been rolling healers since I started playing but want to frick around with a DPS for a change of pace. Which should I autisically hyperfixate on for the next few weeks?
SAM is easy to get into, with an easy rotation and an intuitive gameplan. Too bad you also get screwed by MNK because all the striking gear is designed for them.
SMN is braindead, but does good damage, and you probably already have a max level one if you have a max level SCH.
NIN is busy, but fun.
Those are all the DPS I currently have leveled to 90.
By far the most fun I had as a DPS was NIN. It's hectic and fricking up feels awful, but when everything goes well it feels fantastic. It's the only job that makes me want to be perfect rather than just doing "good enough".
I can't count the number of times where the GCD from my last weaponskill delayed the first mudra, so I hit it again to compensate, only to get two of the same mudra in a row.
It's better to take the bunny of shame to get the mudra CD timer going than lose out on a good chunk of DPS waiting for the bunny to fade and THEN the timer counting down.

someone who's just playing the game normally without reading a guide has no reason to assume single target doton is bad. you have to know that dots are every 3 seconds and not the actual listed duration to know its less damage then raiton, literally every other job wants to keep their dot going on bosses and its the only 3 mudra move that isn't obviously less damage then raiton so it must be better because its more mudra
I'm just glad prepull doton finally got killed and I don't have to pretend that's really interesting skill expression and not a huge pain in the ass to get my maximum damage that doesn't even work in every boss

all of the tanks except war have an aoe dot you use in single target. dragoon uses their aoe jump on single target. there's a lot of examples of this kinda thing and if doton ticked every 1 second instead of every 3 it would be a damage gain over raiton - which is something you won't realize unless you either sit there staring at the moves damage ticks or read a guide

I think a lot of people want their character to be coomercore or be the hottest or the prettiest but I just want mine to be cute. I think cute characters are very iconic and memorable.
I think my character is cute and it made me enthralled by her story, but it upsets me that hardly anyone actively openly hits on the WoL. she should be the most eligible bachelorette, even if only to lesbians because of the male player characters.

nah. drk pooling its weaves for a big burst tends to line up better with parts of the boss where you dont have to move and drk can more easily delay some of its cooldowns a few seconds if you need to mitigate/move. gnb has to continuation every 30s and in general is in a much more rigid rotation that can't accomodate that stuff as easily, while warrior is just rolling the gcd and pld is also rolling the gcd and has a ranged phase
it's not a huge problem, but gnb going "oh, I didn't do enough uptime and now I don't have enough stuff for double down + gnashing fang and my shit is drifting" is a much more likely situation to run into then the other tanks in their equivilent

In ShB she was only in the Lifestream for a few minutes. In HW she was in there for weeks. The way teleport magic works is that you need to maintain yourself while you move through the Lifestream but if you stay in long enough or don't have enough willpower then it will start to dissolve you. Her physical body wasn't on the First at all but she was still blind, and that's because her soul started to decay while she was in there during HW.

Ultima is just too big a "jesus christ what the frick is this thing?" question mark in the lore for it to never be mentioned again. Meanwhile, Ultima, the spell, is the most fricking iconic spell in the franchise, and it's been brought up once and forever forgotten in the span of five minutes.

Before Endwalker, I was fully expecting Ultima to be a splinter or fragment of whatever it is that caused the Final Days was. I was toying with the idea of "whatever caused the Final Days to happen was also split when Zodiark was sundered, with Ultima being a fragment in the Source, Eden being a fragment in the First, and Cloud of Darkness being it on the thirteenth".
This was before the days of knowing how the Eden raid would turn out, obviously.

Duskwights didn't exist yet when Amdapor was around. They evolved from the Elezen who were living in Gelmorra, though a lot of Gelmorra was made by repurposing Amdapori underground structures.

SAM is easy to get into, with an easy rotation and an intuitive gameplan. Too bad you also get screwed by MNK because all the striking gear is designed for them.
SMN is braindead, but does good damage, and you probably already have a max level one if you have a max level SCH.
NIN is busy, but fun.
Those are all the DPS I currently have leveled to 90.
By far the most fun I had as a DPS was NIN. It's hectic and fricking up feels awful, but when everything goes well it feels fantastic. It's the only job that makes me want to be perfect rather than just doing "good enough".
NIN is the only job that publicly shames you for fricking up with the Bunny of Shame.

I can't count the number of times where the GCD from my last weaponskill delayed the first mudra, so I hit it again to compensate, only to get two of the same mudra in a row.
It's better to take the bunny of shame to get the mudra CD timer going than lose out on a good chunk of DPS waiting for the bunny to fade and THEN the timer counting down.

I'm just glad prepull doton finally got killed and I don't have to pretend that's really interesting skill expression and not a huge pain in the ass to get my maximum damage that doesn't even work in every boss

all of the tanks except war have an aoe dot you use in single target. dragoon uses their aoe jump on single target. there's a lot of examples of this kinda thing and if doton ticked every 1 second instead of every 3 it would be a damage gain over raiton - which is something you won't realize unless you either sit there staring at the moves damage ticks or read a guide

nah. drk pooling its weaves for a big burst tends to line up better with parts of the boss where you dont have to move and drk can more easily delay some of its cooldowns a few seconds if you need to mitigate/move. gnb has to continuation every 30s and in general is in a much more rigid rotation that can't accomodate that stuff as easily, while warrior is just rolling the gcd and pld is also rolling the gcd and has a ranged phase
it's not a huge problem, but gnb going "oh, I didn't do enough uptime and now I don't have enough stuff for double down + gnashing fang and my shit is drifting" is a much more likely situation to run into then the other tanks in their equivilent

The way teleport magic works is that you need to maintain yourself while you move through the Lifestream but if you stay in long enough or don't have enough willpower then it will start to dissolve you. Her physical body wasn't on the First at all but she was still blind, and that's because her soul started to decay while she was in there during HW.

Ultima is just too big a "jesus christ what the frick is this thing?" question mark in the lore for it to never be mentioned again. Meanwhile, Ultima, the spell, is the most fricking iconic spell in the franchise, and it's been brought up once and forever forgotten in the span of five minutes.

Before Endwalker, I was fully expecting Ultima to be a splinter or fragment of whatever it is that caused the Final Days was. I was toying with the idea of "whatever caused the Final Days to happen was also split when Zodiark was sundered, with Ultima being a fragment in the Source, Eden being a fragment in the First, and Cloud of Darkness being it on the thirteenth".
This was before the days of knowing how the Eden raid would turn out, obviously.

There are less than 10 Male mooncat NPCs in the entire game, less so if you don't count The First moonies.
Because moonies are rare to begin with since they're an offshoot that's pretty much specific to the Shroud. On top of that, Miqo'te are naturally reclusive and then the moonies don't get along with Gridania because of the Pact of Gelmorra. Then factor in that Miqo'te have a 1:10 male:female ratio.
I hope someday we'll get to see the moonie homeland for a least a crumb of lore.

Duskwights didn't exist yet when Amdapor was around. They evolved from the Elezen who were living in Gelmorra, though a lot of Gelmorra was made by repurposing Amdapori underground structures.
