Thoughts on the series?

Currently playing 1 and it's a nice little puzzle game that doesn't require complex multi-layer thinking (at least on the first 5 floors). I would even say it's relaxing, could have a little more variety in the soundtrack though.
Are there any secrets or it's just straightforward "solve the puzzle - go to the next room" thing?

Solve the puzzle and go to the next room. There's several Lolo/Eggerland games on Famicom/FDS and US Lolo 1 doesn't exist in Japan, it's a collection of the easier puzzles from the different Eggerland games. US Lolo 2 and 3 are Lolo 1 and 2 in Japan and have a different set of puzzles from the US versions.

      >in an alternate universe

we have a new game released for Switch while Kirby franchise had like 3 parts for Game Boy and currently stays semi-obscure

Would it have ultra-autistic "deep" lore where fans go "NUH UH ITS NOT MADE FOR BABIES LOOK THE FINAL BOSS SCREAMS, BLEEDS OUT OF ITS EYES AND RIPS ITS ASS OFF"

Love this trilogy. I even forced my way through some of the Eggerland games to scratch that itch.

Lolo 2 has 4 secret pro levels that are only accessible by password. And they make heavy use of complex mechanics, like the push-blocks-over-enemy-spawn-points thing.

i thought 1 and 2 were great, but i didnt finish 3. i played it right after the others so maybe i was just wore out from it. but i remember it being quite different. i think i stopped on the sea floor area or something. to me these games are the perfect difficulty - some of the levels are hard enough to really push me but its never hopeless

I played through the third game and it was awesome. I don't remember any fundamental differences. It's got a world map, some new enemies or whatever, and I think boss battles (which are not very significant), but it's still the same old Lolo.

I love this game but there are some puzzles you can only solve in a single way and by the time you find this, sadly.
Also, you can put objects between two squares to avoid medusa to hit you, for example. Learning that was pretty good.

Keep in mind that Adventures of Lolo 1 for the NES is a western-only release consisting of 50 levels taken from various earlier games in the series. Most of these were early levels, so the game never really leaves the tutorial phase. The other games in the series get trickier.

The amount of horrendously cryptic, brutal, and unfun "puzzles" that Eggerland: Meikyuu no Fukkatsu forces you to do one after another made me drop it even while using a guide. If I wanted the experience of shoving needles in my dick, I'd go play Kaizo Mario or something.

hmm they don't really a lot to say about this game here. nice Dragon Quest final boss battle though. I do believe none of the US Lolo games were as tough as the Famicom ones, even though 2 and 3 can get pretty hard.

As he says in the comment section, the first Eggerland game on FDS has bigger, multi-screen stages but Meikyou no Fukkatsu has harder individual stages. Also you may notice that the music has a slightly different pitch in the Eggerland games than it does in AoL.

that's a lot of Lolo. there's six unique games to play through:

    >Eggerland
    >Meikyou no Fukkatsu
    >US AoL 2
    >US AoL 3
    >Famicom AoL 1
    >Famicom AoL 2

and skipping US AoL 1 and Souzou e no Tabidachi as they're just compilations of easier stages from the other games

There are more than that. The game for the FDS that's simply called "Egger Land" is a remake of "Meikyuu Shinwa" for the MSX but it has nothing to do with the real first game the "Eggerland Mystery" on the MSX.
Also you're forgetting the game boy game. (Both Japan and Western version are different again of course.)

Puzznic (Puzznic mode only, Gravnic is meh)
Fire 'n Ice (particularly the post-game bonus levels)

Good puzzle game, I just wish it would have avoided the cheap shots like the illogical water currents you can only discover through trial and error and the precise timings to dodge enemies with essentially random movement. It had good, challenging puzzles it didn't need to pad them with that bullshit. Nothing that emulation scumming can't solve, but it cheapens the affair a little.

      >dodge enemies with essentially random movement

I thought I was just being dumb and broke the actual solution with unplanned dodges
Well, that's always great to know that your success in a puzzle game depends on luck rather than clever thinking

It was my first game ever. Played it on my dad's MSX. It was called Eggerland tho.

I played the game boy game and it was fun but past a certain point the puzzles required you to do things with such a tight execution window that I got sick of it. I still like the style of game though, wish there was more puzzle games like it
