I emulated gamecube version and stopped at water temple. Maybe it gets better but it just seems like a worse OOT in every way
    Still would sexo Midna

The game really picks up once you get the
master sword. The latter half dungeons are some of the best in the entire series.

TP's water temple is actually good unlike OOC's

All I will offer is that the Gamecube version is still the best version. I understand the rebuttals and disagree with all of them.

Gamecube doesn't have hero mode so it's not. The base game is way too easy and that makes replays of it incredibly boring.

Once you get past its infamous first 2-3 hours it's 3D Zelda as prescribed, more or less. Reasons to favor it fall back to the atmospheric mix of rustic countryside and gothic architecture, tight dungeon designs with memorable gimmicks, refined swordplay and unironically the charm of Midna and Zant as characters. On the flipside it does little to actually innovate the formula it falls back on, the difficulty is low even by Zelda standards, and both items and the overworld feel a bit undercooked in terms of potential interactions. It has its fans (hell, I'm one of them) but in the grander scheme it's an upper mid tier Zelda.

Those first 2 or so hours is what prevents me from replaying this game. Just a whole lot of talking and doing redundant little tasks. Majoras mask has this problem, wind waker has this problem, most of them do

      >On the flipside it does little to actually innovate the formula it falls back on
I don't think it really needed to. Look at skyward sword for how they "innovated" the series afterward. They even tried it with TP on the wii.

No, they've said they aren't going to. There's no demand. It's a game for 30yo boomers like me and already got a remaster, switch is for zoomers and will get toon link and an mmo

Was there demand for it on the WiiU? It just seems strange to me that game is on three consoles but not the most popular one

Anon they made crossbow training instead of a sequel. They hate TP.
Mark my words, BOTW wasn't a trial of open world, they're going for an MMO. Monthly fees and games as a service is the future, sadly. This Christmas you'll see all the little zoomies with their Switch2gethers spending tendy points on microtransactions and every new game will require an account. Nothing good ever happens.

DYK gaming did a piece on this, they were developing TP2 and for some reason shiggy wanted to utilize the zapper, but he said "hey, if our test audience hates it, thats on me, we'll go with your ideas". Unfortunately, the testers loved it

Played it recently for the first time. Its pretty average, outside of midna being cute, theres nothing much to say about it.

      Anonymous

Yeah I used to have it high on my tier list but I replayed it this winter and it's pretty average. The items are largely pointless outside their dungeons, they do the stupid slingshot AND bow thing which only made sense in OoT and just wastes an item slot. Then things like the spinner and command rod are used in like 2 overworld puzzles and that's it
      Dungeons are decent
Start is way too slow. Wolf parts are fun at first but boring eventually
OST is decent but behind OoT and WW by a mile
Probably best fishing but other mini games and overworld parts are pretty shit, and there is a general lack of things to do in the overworld

I had it as an A-tier but I changed it to low B

Because they serve different functions. There is nothing "lost". You didn't lose another item because you got a slingshot. Interesting how you instantly tried to move the goalposts.

replied to you instead of me, but I entirely agree with him. Climbing up to where the peahats are is boring because he really doesn't attack you, so it only makes it tedious. The timing of moving between peahats is really the only challenging thing when the boss is on his last leg and moving a bit more quickly, but you're literally just hitting the same button over and over, waiting until you have enough of a lead on his firebreathing to finally launch to his back. It's a rinse and repeat cycle that is unnecessarily time consuming and brainless. How anyone at Nintendo looked at that boss fight and called it good enough to ship is beyond me.

It's one of the very few actually good remasters that improve things and don't try anything stupid, people b***h about the game not having fancy lightning like Wind Waker HD, but just increasing the resolution and improving the textures was the best approach.

It's good. Intro is just shit though, game isn't very good until you clear Kakariko's twilight (three hours after starting) and the game is braindead easy if you aren't doing a three heart run.
Three dungeons (Lakebed, Snowpeak and Arbiters Ground) are incredible and possibly series peak and then all of the others are just hallways with almost no thought required.
Midna is THE most precious thing, ever.

TP has steadily become my favourite 3D Zelda, tied with OoT. They both have strengths and weaknesses over each other of course.
TP certainly benefits from the Hero mode and Ganondorf amiibo.

Hero mode is a must since the base game is so easy, I don't like that hearts don't spawn in these game modes though, just make them appear much less regularly instead.

Oh, and don't forget that midna can move certain objects from one side of the map to another.

    It's my 3rd favorite 3D Zelda.

If you like Zelda games then you'll like it. The intro is very slow and boring and the dog sections are bad, but it has the best dungeons in the series. Probably has the best castle town as well.

Yes, it's great. HD is also great since it's kind of like Wii and GC version all in one and you can play it in whatever way you want.

The worst 3D Zelda by a mile.
Terrible pacing and very restrictive gameplay. Forgettable temples and half baked plot.

i will never forgive this game for turning link into a furry and acting as a bridge for that degenerate community

You know, I was in that Final Fantasy 7 Remake thread, expressing my dislike for that game and it got me thinking about Twilight Princess here. It's essentially a remake of Ocarina of Time, and it does it pretty well without shitting all over Ocarina of Time in the process or even pretending that it's a remake to trick people into buying it.
Square could have learned a thing or two from this game.

If Twilight Princess actually had some difficulty it would be so much better especially with the hidden skills. Still has the best combat in the series, just way too easy. Most enemies to like a 1/4 of a heart damage to you.

That's why HD ver is probably the best with Hero Mode, and you can even double it down if you use a ganondorf amiibo

Play hero mode on the HD edition. Enemies deal double damage and recovery hearts no longer drop from enemies and objects. You can also do a 3 heart run to make it even harder

I don't know why I never actually thought of that lmfao. Thanks

I did a 3 heart + no shield run in Hero mode on release back in 2016, and it was some of the most fun I've had with a 3d zelda game's combat.

Ugly boring version of OoT. Nintendo clearly did not want to make it.

I don't know about this game but Majora's Mask is hard. So is Wind Waker. I don't know why people think Zelda games are easy. It's just herd thinking.

try r/gaming, should be more up to your speed

Majora's mask is hard because the entire game has a timer. You have to beat each dungeon in a certain amount of time.

Even without the slowdown song, the timer is lenient. Remember, the game is for literal children.

In Majora's Mask you have to play the game like a speed run. Then you have to go to first day using the Song of Time I believe. There is a secret to slow down time though.

It's Ocarina of Time with more content. All in all probably one of the top 5 Zeldas, definitely below OOT, MM, WW, and BoTW though

It has some excellent aspects, such as the dungeons, horseback combat and Midna. Other aspects are pretty shite, like the pacing, character models, non-orchestra soundtrack and OoTgayging. Definitely worth playing though.

The remastered version, particularly played on Cemu, is the definitive version. Overall the game is quite good and is a "classic zelda" in many ways and a more "mature" story (ie this is adult-link, not young link title). that can veer into slight bits of edge, but usually in a charming way. There are some unique mechanics with regards to transformation and Midna's role in it all, combat is dynamic (the Wii version had some waggle but this isn't predicated on such things) and overall its a solid 3D Zelda title that has a lot of good bits.

The WiiU HD Remaster, much like the Wind Waker HD, has some improvements and overhauls.
    >Hero Mode - Link takes 2X damage, hearts do NOT drop from enemies, and the entire game world is mirrored so that Link is right handed like he was in the Wii version. The default gameplay has him left handed and the map similar to the GC version!
    >Extra challenge dungeon, Cave of Shadows. Beat it you get a Wallet capable of holding 9,999 rupees. Use the Wolf Link Amiibo to get into it , can't remember if there's another way.
    >Amiibo support , most just refill your hearts but Gannondorf makes you take 2X damage. Combine with hero mode, its 4x damage! Not that Cemu can emulate any amiibo you wish so you're good here.
    >Better controls, particularly with a WiiU or Switch Pro controller (and emulating a WiiU Pro)
    >Better graphics. These can be upgraded with Cemu graphics packs to render at 1080p, or even 4K native! There are also custom graphics and texture mods if you wish.
    >Transformation to Wolf and back is instant !. In the GC/Wii it used to take time and you needed to talk to Midna to do so.
    >Numerous QoL and animation changes/improvements, quest enhancements and more
    >New items including a Giant Wallet (2000 rupees) the aforementioned Bottomless Wallet (9999 rupees) , and Ghostly Lantern (lets you detect Poes, during the day).

Definitely worthwhile, I'm about to play the HD version myself!
