Full of soul, had almost all of Spider-Man’s best foes in one game and they were all properly paced, something Insomniac needs to learn instead of having the entire Sinister Six fight Spidey one after the other and in tag-team battles too.

The comic book collecting was so influential that many future Spider-Man games under Actvision implemented that mechanic, even as far the game based on the first Amazing Spider-Man movie.

The only Spider-Man game in existence that understood who Venom is, SURF THE WEB meme aside his character is actually on fricking point, he wasn’t a villain when he debuted in the comics, Eddie was a man full of hate and thought Peter ruined his life and the symbiote hated being abandoned, for Venom the beef with Spider-Man was personal but in some twisted fashion Venom actually wanted to prove himself to be a superior hero, same thing happens in the game where Venom screws Spider-Man over by kidnapping Mary Jane but only because he thought Spider-Man finally revealed himself to be the villain Venom thinks he is.

The EEL NATS cheat code, never forget. Really a great game but the level with the symbiotes in the library was just obnoxiously hard compared to everything before it. Me and my bro would have never made it past if it wasn't for the legendary EEL NATS

    PS1 vs PC vs N64

    Which one is better

      Anonymous

PC has the best graphics, PS1 is for nostalgia, N64 is simply fricked, it was way too limited in just about everything, in music, in cutscenes and even graphics despite the N64 having better capabilities on real-time rendering than the PS1.

      PC > PS1 > N64
The cartridge size limit butchered the N64 version.

DC is the better version, it is the same PC version where you can emulate it easily while the PC version today needs a ton of workarounds and fan patches to run in a modern PC.

Honestly, I think I remember having problems trying to get it to run on Windows XP at the time and this was probably back in 2002 or something. Like, the game played but it would glitch out in weird ass ways that would make it impossible to play. At least from what I remember.

It may interest you to know that the PS1 version is the only version the original developers (Neversoft) touched, and the ports were handled by other studios, without Neversoft's direct involvement. So, if you'd prefer the original developer's vision rather than whichever is pushing the most polygons, go for the PS1 version. Otherwise, I suggest the DC version. If you decide to go with the PC version, use a frame limiter program of some sort to lock it to 30fps, to mitigate some of the bugs.
No matter which you choose, avoid the N64 version. It's very heavily cut down. Off the top of my head, less voice clips (including no "I'M ALREADY AT FULL HEALTH", a mortal sin), no FMVs (replaced with screenshot slideshows with text and sound effects, as shown in

      PC > PS1 > N64

), no What If mode, the training mode with the cardboard cutouts of characters (whatever it's called eludes me) is gone, no Amazing Bag Man or J. James israeliteett, and probably more I'm missing. The only upside I can think of is faster load times, but you could just use fast forward in an emulator if that really bothers you so much.

        >J. James israeliteett

Pretty sure that's non-functional in all versions, no?

It works in the PS1 version, though from a quick look online, it seems it was removed from all of the other versions. Sadly, I can't find a proper screenshot or footage of it online, but here's footage of it re-added to the PC version:

The "J. James israeliteett" in question is Joel israeliteett, the co-founder and (former) president of Neversoft.

I love the N64 because of course it was the version I played as a kid. Of course the PS version is better. But I can say 1 positive thing about the n64 version. The slideshows that replaced are worse than the cinematics I agree. But the good thing about the slideshows is that you can hear different samples of the music of the game that you can't find anywhere else. For example in the "masterminds" slideshow, you can hear Carnage theme, but only the first instrument. In the next slideshow you can hear the same song but now with the guitars. I think it suit the slideshows really well.

Still the best Venom in games/TV/movies. Probably the best comic book game in terms of story and scope as well. Extremely peak comfy 90s comic rock soundtrack help immensely.

Fantastic, fun, humorous, artistically sound, and highly influential for the future of Spiderman games.

This game and Spiderman 2: The Game (based on the movie) were the two most influential Spiderman games that made Spidey games a viable business.

Also credits to Ultimate Spiderman for introducing crossovers and playing as Venom, and Web Of Shadows for having the best combat, branching story and wall combat.
