I don't mind the difficulty, the charming dialogue makes up for it

    >Marjoly and the Three Witches
    >Punch Witch
    >Samurai Weeaboo Witch
    >Cat Witch
I guess that's why they don't appear in Disgaea.

Was the American version nerfed hard or something? I played this in Japanese and got wiped losing an hour of progress twice. It wasn't even a matter of gittin good either, I got into encounters I couldn't possibly win in the early game.

They released english versions of the next two games in the series on Steam. What's the chance of someone inserting the english text into the original PS1 game so I can play it on Duckstation?

Ryouji-era art NIS games have such a distinctly comfy and nostalgic aesthetic

I entered a later game area by mistake and fought harder encounters, turns out the battles can be fun if you’re underleveld

the lack of english voice acting in the sequels is a bummer cause I found it charming in the first one as corny as it is

        >the lack of english voice acting in the sequels
Only the songs aren't translated. There are several voiced dialogues in english at dramatic moments.

Back when NIS relied on Marl Kingdom IP and not Disgaea IP...
I honestly have no idea why they dropped it - Disgaea was never THAT popular after PS2 titles (and talant bleed during Disgaea 3 development made sure the series never recovered) to completely replace Marl Kingdom (which had three titles and even a sidegame set in the same universe - see La Pucelle). Sure, those games were never really hard, but easy RPGs can still be good and popular (see SMRPG).
I have no idea how good the sales of remasters were, but hopefully there's still a chance for NIS to come back to this series - it doesn't even get presence in Disgaea games through Marjoly these days.

What are the chances they'll even get a sequel right?
