Ganker always jumps up and down and acts like this-or-that is the most massive, hilarious blunder in gaming history, then later starts praising it. Saw it with No Man's Sky, saw it with Cyberpunk 2077.

Cyberpunk and Fallout 76 are still laughing stocks. 2042 is actually unfixable with how bad it is. We thought was a disaster at the time but was before we knew how bad it could really get.

      >No Man's Sky
      >Cyberpunk
I still shit on those games, they might have had work put in to polish them, but they're still sloppy turds, and no amount of content updates and bug fixes will change that.

How is it these days? it's free to play now right? It worth a try or do I need a paid account to get access to basic quality of life stuff?

    >highly
    it's profitable.
It has a team of literally like five people, and churns out lootboxes that a few thousand whales snap up at every opportunity.

It's still a terrible, awful game with very little redeeming qualities.

Just goes to show there are a lot of retards out there who will throw money at anything using the Star Wars IP. I played the game at launch and was in one of the top raiding guilds. The game was irredeemable garbage.

This is the problem with lootboxes, gacha and other garbage (ie Fortnite FOMO, cosmetic item malls etc..) monetizations - it has such a low level of effort required and huge return on investment. So even if you can get thousands or hundreds of thousands of people to boycott the game, it only takes a relative few buying the lootboxes or drafting the banner event or whatever the fuck, to justify the cost. Its fucking infuriating because you can never stop a couple of autists from opening their wallet and buying eleventy billion lootboxes until they get the sith throne they want or the S rank / 5 star waifu or the collection event etc.

People don't realize how easy it is for MMOs to make money. FFXIV has an audience of exclusively trannies and it could keep SE going all on its own.

There are normal people who play it. Everyone who wants to play an MMO is playing XIV. There's nothing else left now that WoW is ruined.

Same thing frustrating about the above is in FFXIV sadly. During the early days like 1.0 or even ARR (maybe Heavensward) there was nothing on the item mall except rare shit from JP ONRY fan fest items and old holiday stuff (which you could get IN GAME FOR FREE EVEN IF YOU MISSED IT if you waited until the holiday came round again). Now fucking emotes and dances are on the item mall, desirable outfits cost $18-22, there's always new shit to buy etc.. and its fucking infuriating how much of it is exclusive for a bloody subscription MMO. I'd easily pay twice the sub price per month if it meant all the included cosmetics and everything were just part of the goddamn game.

Yeah that's why MMOs crash and burn in less than a year 95% of the time. This "tortanic" really buck broke Ganker.

Most MMOs flop hard. The amount of people on Kickstarter trying to make an MMO for their first game is fucking insane.

Didn't they plan to be a subscription based game and then turned F2P (or Pay2Sprint?), not sure what's highly profitable in terms of games as a service.

We are fully in the era of "too big to fail"
When something "bombs" it's not because it lost enough money to make a difference to the business, it just means that it didn't make as much money as they expected it to.
You're never going to see something fail so badly it puts any current megacorporation out of business.
Oh also even in the 1 in a million chance it does, if it's an established ip it just means the ip gets bought by another megacorportion to dance the franchises corpse around.
No one likes modern star wars and it's STILL successful because retards will still watch it hoping it's better ( that's how the "good" nuwars even gets recognized as good; people are still watching the bad stuff anyways )
