He is probaly talking about Manor Lords but the game is away more like those Impressions Games city buiders like Pharaoh, Ceasar, Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom and not the map painting autism that is the bread and butter of TW series.
However, if the dev nails the combat of the game and make some mad cash with it, I can see it becoming fundation for something with a larger scope that could rival TW.

No, Total War is gonna stop making games in general because the Warhammer naggers finally realized that they bought the same game 3 times and finally got sick of overpaying for DLC that barely adds any content after almost a decade. The problem is the warhammer engine does not work for historical gameplay. Go play the TWmed 2 warhammer mod and see that you can actually have tactics and formations rather than just have blobs smash against eachother. At this point, if they made med 3 I would not buy it if I knew it was teh same fucking engine they keep using in ALL games now. It is an enegine made to account for different scale units and lots of variety, that is not something historical has to consider but the engine is still used for them.
Make a TW Warcraft game, theyd even be able to get away with making minor factions as DLC if they want a money printer. The engine is fine for unit scale variety, in fantasy you have magic and wierd units, it doesnt need to have the tactical element if its fantasy, this is why I think LotR wouldnt work.
Why would I play Warcraft when I can play Warhammer already? The only thing Warcfraft has and Warhammer doesn't is the fish race.
Its just another fantasy setting with a fuck load of races, cultures, magic and monsters they could use for unit variety via the distinct factions. If they made something like LotR or GoT it would be 99% human sized enemies and no real magic classes. Im not even saying that as a negative, the mods for those settings work great in stuff like Med 2 where its got more tactical depth in how units are used, rather than the variety.
Medieval 2 already has arguably the greatest LOTR game on it via mod

All they have to do is make an enhanced Grand Campaigns mod with as much flavour and depth as they added in Warhammer TW, while giving the community FULL mod support and they'll have a masterpiece.

I am honeslty more interested in what will happen after warhammerbux runs out, CA can milk wh3 easly for the rest of 2024, but if they dont make a good major entry by 2025 they could face getting shutdown, maybe they learn and drop the total war saga shit completly and focus in a big project while dropping wh3 dlc by the side to keep the the warhammer paypigges happy before they realize its over
given some of their leaks outright mention how its a struggle to keep GW happy, I really doubt the recent shitshow will allow any sort of future warhammer related game to happen, in other words they will have to actually try with the next game or get fucked

Shogun 2 was the last good TW game, Rome II took years to get even decent and even then it started the downfall
