If anything SV implies James was one of the last pillars preventing the structure to fully fall apart
This. Paldea has no cohesion in it's designs and models. It comes across as some intern making the design choices.
Once I find out who the art director is I'm avoiding any game they work on. They have no idea what they're doing and have made such bad choices for a Pokemon Game. The GO styled human characters are bizarre looking and don't match the official art.
How does SV have less cohesion than, say, Black and White, or even the original Red/Green?
Honestly I was pretty unhappy with the design decisions since Sun/Moon, but I find myself pretty happy with what has been revealed so far.
All the gens have poor cohesion. That's the secret. Everyone wonders why pokemon clones always fail to generate interest with their rosters and its because all the monster designs have one clear aesthetic. Pokemon breaks that rule.
The character and pokemom designs differ quite a lot from eachother. Do Armarouge and Bellibolt look like they're from the same generation (or even the same game)? Do the gym leaders resemble their 2d art? Look at the professor turo and jacq's model and art, they've gone with the uncanny valley models of GO.
It even leaks into the overworld.. look at textures, models and colour choices for areas. The dirt/rock area looks disgusting with that orange brown colour. You are right that in every generation there is variation, but this gen seems very disjointed with no clear art direction.
So you ask a bunch of questions where the answer is "Yes, especially compared to previous gens.", and then you talk about the ugly overworld graphics when SS is far worse.
Unsure what you want, senpai. I think you're just mad to be mad this time around.
nta so I'm not going to fight his battles for him, but since you seem to misunderstand what design cohesion is, I'll tell you this much. It's about the fundamentals of the design. The style, the same sort of colors, shapes, design philosophy, and on. You can use the same fundamentals to make an ugly or a cute pokemon, but they'll still have the same sort of 'style'. They'll seem like they're from the same world. SV lacks that consistency, the fundamentals from trainer to trainer or pokemon to pokemon seem to vary, like they were drawn by different people or in a different style. We are aware that since the beginning some pokemon have sometimes been designed by different team members, however they are always touched up and redrawn at some point to try and make them share the overall same style. Ensuring this is done is the job of the art director, who while not necessarily an artist themselves has to keep all the design elements consistent with one another to create a cohesive product. SV has failed to do this so far, which means the art director isn't doing their job. Of note, it is also typically the art director's job to ensure the 3D modelers are doing a good job adapting the 2D art, which as anon said, has been done poorly this time around, with the models sometimes differing significantly from the art.
Thank you anon, you described exactly what I was trying to convey in a much more effective way.
can i know who was the art director of pla as well?
Toby Fox didn’t leave though.
>more black/indian characters as champions/leading images of a new franchise based on SPAIN
Its pozzed.
I used to hate that homosexual Turner with a passion, then pic related got revealed and I realized the new garbage pokemon designs weren't entirely his fault after all. GameFreak as a whole is POZZed
forgot image
Why is this drawn like its from Dragon Quest
Pokemon was most successful when it was a Dragon Quest clone
thats exactly why i like it
this is the product of james turner leaving pokemon
why do you morons keep saying "pozzed" it literally has no meaning and your context is fricking moronic
Pokemon is now officially dead
every time you say that the new game sells around 10-20 million copies, if it was bad people would drop it like temtem or digishit
>Fifa steps into your path
is pokemon fixed yet? you changs said that he was the reason of everything bad.
just admit that the franchise has gone to shit just like every other video franchise bending the knee
