I thought it was a meme until I saw Alien Isolation running at 144hz on my friend's monitor. Got one and never went back.

I had a friend who thought like this until I showed him irl a game we were playing frequently at the time running at 120fps and he finally conceded.

If the testing wasn't done on CRTs exclusively, it's pointless. And I don't even own one, I just know sample and hold blur is taken out of the equation with them.

I can see the difference between 60 and 120 FPS for small objects against a contrasting background, around 90 FPS for full-scene motion is my limit before I stop seeing a difference.

"Motion clarity" is the one, single advantage CRT displays have over modern displays, and even then that "advantage" is rapidly being bridged with higher and higher refresh rates and technologies like BFI. And that's assuming motion clarity actually matters, which it does not outside of VERY niche, obscure scenarios.

This is because science is an ever evolving thing instead of a static thing that is never changed even when proven wrong.

When is someone going to edit the bible to include evolution and shit?

Fricking moron. Anyone can tell the difference between 120 and 30 fps when comparing them side-by-side, or going back and forth between them quickly.

        Anonymous

First of all, I can tell you with absolute certainty if a game is sub 60 fps because it looks and runs like ass.
Secondly, you are moving the goalposts, so you are automatically the Black person here.
        Done.

because games that dip below 60füs usually don't sustain a stable framerate, as long as the framerate is stable your brain will automatically fill in the blanks, and the image will appear smooth regardless

Same, around 85fps is when it gets ok IF its a game i play with a pad (3rd person singleplayer or so) but mkb really only is bearable at 120+ with ok framepacing. I play games that dip lower than that on pc but i always wish they wouldnt.

No, I can tell the difference just like that. It's the first thing I noticed when Nintendo was showcasing Astral Chain in 2019. It's really pathetic for modern games to run this low.

        Anonymous

No they can't! Console scientists did extensive studies to prove that it was impossible for the human eye to see more than 24 frames per second so 30 with dips is more than enough!

So the console tards claiming the human eye can't see above 24fps were genuine subhumans this entire time? lmao

30 to 60 is massive, most people can tell the difference especially if you do like a console performance mode thing and show them before and after. 60 to 70 is the final true normalgay leap where the majority of people can see a difference, everything after that is placebos or diminishing returns. buttholes trying to tell people it's a solid move to spend $1k extra to get 160 fps instead of 125 fps are the reason PC gaming is such a moronic overpriced clusterfrick.

It's true. Some people can't tell the difference. I can't use OLED phones because they flicker meanwhile at my job we have ultrawides limited to 50hz over HDMI and nobody cares except me. It was so laggy I bought a DisplayPort cable for myself to bump it up to 75hz. Nobody can tell the difference.

Happens all the time. Saccadic blindness happens every time you move your eyeball (the optic nerve travels long the muscles that move the eye, and when the muscles move it turns off the optic nerve, and then turns it back on) You don't notice it because your brain has all kinds of tricks to hide it from you. Same reason why you don't notice when you blink.

I definitely notice 144Hz vs 480Hz (OLED.) It's not as noticeable as 30 to 60 or even 60 to 120, it's kind of like like going from 90 to 144 Hz.
