I do not know, but I would play the hell out of a new PC release, *if* they decided to do that.
Imagine the online matches... or playing against more advanced algorithms. It'd be fun.
Where's vigilante 8 for that matter?
TM was never a sales success outside of North America, most of the games didn't even get a proper release elsewhere
3, 4 and Small Brawl were NTSC-only, Black was heavily censored in Europe, there hasn't been a japanese release since 2
This anon knows his shit. The rest of you are dumb. Including OP
Last iteration messed up by not having individual driver character endings which is a big deal for the series. Fantastic game otherwise. I'm scared they would make it woke trash these days though

Nothing happened, that's the problem.
PS3 Twisted Metal was gimped from the get-go. The thing that mattered most, Online Multiplayer, was buggy as shit. Player retention was virtually non-existent leading to the game selling poorly leading to Sony deciding to axe the series.
Since car-combat games are dead and buried and 3rd person action-rpgs print money (and are the only genre Sony cares about nowadays), Twisted Metal is doomed.
Car Combat games were only really popular in the US. And Twisted Metal couldn't pick a tone and stick with it. For the record Black>2>Head On/Harbor City>2012>4>Original>3.
solid ranking, I'd move the original a bit higher, it's perfect other than that
Twisted Metal 2 had the best soundtrack in the series.
dangerously based - combat, controls and graphics improved, but 2 had absolutely the best soundtrack

What happened?
Singletrack got fucked by Sony, other - obviously shittier - studios couldn't keep up the car combat games hype up and it died dead.
At least this is was the beginning of the end.
Also Rogue Trip: Vacation 2012 was THE BEST TWISTED METAL VIDYA EVER This been totally illegal, unpaid announcement for Amalgamated Association of Automercenaries
I actually have a soft spot for TM4. It was an objective improvement over 3, and it tried to do its own thing with the Circus Freakshow look. Also Critical Depth is underrated as well.
>Imagine zoomers trying to understand how to play these games
Understand what? The average "zoomer" game is more complex than any TW game. Hell instead of car combat games you have WoT right now (not WT) and it's much more complex than any TW game. Let it go.
>What do people like about our games? >The Roster! >okay fuck that though, lets make 3 factions and everything in the faction plays similarly >uhh
They fucked up massively, plus PSN issues obviously. Funnily enough when they started this new Twisted Metal, they put the Destruction All-Stars team on it then later took them off because of how bad that game turned out. I think they have the old Motorstorm director on it now at a new team called Firesprite.
Honestly they need to detach the shooting from the driving, letting you shoot where you aren't driving towards. It feels really archaic in a way to only be able to shoot what is in front of you.
Twisted metal is just one of those games that require couch multiplayer. Some games like that hang on in the online age like fighting games but some just died.
Gimped story/characters aside, the last game was by far my favorite. Gameplay was fucking excellent, only complaint was that a few vehicles had copy-pasted specials but each had two so whatever.
Nothing compares grabbing some fucker with Roadboat's magnet and unloading mega guns into them as you piledrive them against a wall. Shit was fucking cash.

I will unironically buy a ps5 if this game is rebooted
or syphon filter
You know these fuckers released the entire Syphon Filter series besides Omega Strain digitally on their catalogue.
Hot damn.
I know what I'm doing this weekend.
I’m already going through SF3 and then Dark Mirror’s next.
Also emulator controls with save states and shit. So fucking good.
it became a tv show

yup
I think the same thing that happened to a lot of media last decade, which is that it darkened beyond likability.

>TWBlack was best
Agreed.
what a cool ad. they don't make them like this anymore.

Completely agree with that ranking. 4 > Original solely because of playable Rob Zombie.
It did. But I really like Blacks.
I'm a zoomer, played the series a while back. My one single issue with playing them was that the combos were in the manuals.
I think Black aged pretty well, it was in that weird early 2000s CGI render that could look good, but kind of uncanny, rather fitting.
Agreed
Isn't there a tie-in game being made right now for the show?
yup
Twisted Metal 2 had the best soundtrack in the series.
People never really cared about these games en masse. It speaks volumes to how the industry was back then that there are so many of them at all.
>The Teaser doesn't even use a Rob Zombie song.
The 2D Motion Comic look of 2 aged way better than the CGI of 3 and 4. And Black for that matter.
The CGI in Black at least fits the tone of the game and a lot of the darker lightning hides the shittyness of it well
Small Brawl is underrated as hell and I will die on this hill.
It was always shit, real bros were playing Battletanx
Fuck that shit. Vigilante 8.
The gameplay didn't age well
Sony could make a f2p skin simulator and it would print money
sadly, it would not.

Head-On Calypso is my favorite.

The gameplay; actually. And the reboot kicks the entire series to the curb in gameplay.
But by 2012 there just wasn't a lot of people left around anymore who actively wanted to play Twisted Metal. Any clones even less so.

This game has some of the greatest fucking boss fights in video games.
No they weren't, they were horrifically boring slogs with shit gimmicks.
Man, your taste sucks
This game on PC with steam workshop support would put an end to Rocket League let me tell ya
Yellow Jacket is the best car.
HE WRITES THE SONGS

I would never betray my fellow Xchads, but if there was a new Twisted Metal announced idk...
I wish those cowards had kept cockpit views.
Bring back the Cheesy Live Action cutscenes.
