Why do nintendo fans hate jrpgs???

Every Nintendo JRPG is them being a follower, not a leader.

We love JRPGs, it's just that Xenoblade and FE are filled with insufferable retards and schizos that take their anger on other Nintendo IP communities because they're either cocky or made over some small thing.
I'll never forget the day they were cheering over Alphadream bankruptcy as they claimed they were the "true king of Nintendo JRPGs now".

Says the fag who made an entire thread seething about games he doesn't even play.
I've never heard of that shit happening at any point, Xenoblade fans especially just kinda sit in their own lane.

You must be a newfag or something because it was common back in the day to see Xenoblade/Fire Emblem posters shit-talk about Mario & Luigi, Golden Sun, and Paper Mario because it was "le kiddo trash" in their eyes.
Especially when Pyra/Mythra and Byleth were confirmed to be in Smash Bros, which gave them more fuel to attack people.

I don't like Xenoblade. You just stay still while pretending you are doing shit.
I rather take turn-based games than sitting on spot while autoattacking.
Genuinely one of the shitties combat systems I have ever fucking witnessed. FFXIII is up there tho.

FE is okay dating sim stuff with fun combat.
Also isn't SMRPG and TTYD coming out and people being hyped over them? I'm hoping next DQ is good

Not a single game in the series is like shit. You will get your ass handed to you if you don't use arts or positionals

If you just stood still and autoattacked while playing Xenoblade then I don't think you understood the combat at all

I tried XC2 and whenever I tried to move it canceled the attack. So I just stood still and used special when I could. After getting the kot and going to some town I just got bored and dropped it.
I genuinely found it annoying to play. Why couldn't it be like Rogue Galaxy at least? Tho that game's combat has its own flaws.

Anyway, having to stay still next to enemy and letting the game aa is stupid. Me no like.

You're supposed to move around to different sides of the enemy so you can use positional attacks that have greater effects when used on said sides. Rex has multiple from the beginning of the game.

Auto attacks aren't your main form of damage, and are really just there to build up your specials/arts; the whole point of the attacks stopping when you move is to make movement a more carefully considered action, as it increases the amount of time it will take you to recharge your arts.

I couldn't see any tutorials for that at all?
Did I manage to miss some positional attack message? I just hate the fact the attack cancels the instant you move because in ARPGs I like to do small movements in between or during attacks.

              To me it felt like.
              >AA... AA... AA... Use skill... AA... AA...
              etc.
Didn't help that Rex is annoying af protag.

But, I will take the L if there was a tutorial positional attacks and such I managed to miss. I won't be going back to it because of Rex and mocap cutscene animations.

The game has notoriously shit tutorials that don't do the combat justice. Xenoblade 1 DE and 3 have much better explanations for their combat systems, making them more easily inviting for newcomers who aren't used to MMO-lite combat. If you want to give the game another shot, there are a lot of video guides online that explain the combat much better than the game does, and in a far shorter timespan. At the point in the game you reached, there are still a lot of mechanics that haven't become available yet, so I would encourage you to keep going with it as I really do find XC2's combat to be extremely fun once you get into its groove.

Xenoblade 2 does have quirk unique to itself wherein you can cancel auto attacks by moving right after it connects with an enemy, restarting the animation. It's called stutter-stepping/AAcancelling by fans. It results in much faster cooldown times for arts, and may resolve some of your hangups about the lack of input.

I don't mean this in any rood or mean way, but if you have to go look for tutorials online for how to make a singleplayer game enjoyable, then I'm not sure if it's very good game design. A same sentiment as "mods will fix it" with Bethesda games or "read the stuff outside of the game to understand the story" stuff like with Destiny 1. Not expecting games to be perfect, but I have never before heard of a singleplayer game where I have to go look online for guides to enjoy it or to know how it works.

And of course, no diss towards you or anyone who enjoys Xenoblade stuff, but it clearly isn't for me. I like different kind of JRPGs and many games I like are fucking flawed(FFIX for example)
I'm off to sleep. Have fun Xenoblade fren.

Oh yeah I'm fully aware of that, most Xenoblade fans are, which is why we bitched to Monolith Soft for 5 years until they fixed the issue in XC3.

The problem is that we know how good the combat is in the game, and that it isn't done any favors by the lackluster way it's taught. Makes it hard to recommend the game to people and show what we enjoy about it so much
