More likely they were forced to open the sealed package due to false positive of some kind. Trust me, these people want to do as little work as possible.
t. works manufacturing and has to constantly deal with customs for cold sensitive shit from asia
This is how America operates. One guy gets around the system one time, then everybody else has to be inconvenienced for the rest of their life. This is their reaction to it every time. I remember working for a large company that had all the radios from all their trucks removed because one guy ran over a kid once and didn't hear it. The logic is just baffling
>guy at work looks at porn >REMOVE ALL INTERNET ACESS FOR ALL >Bring USB to work to watch movies all day because I can't connect to internet to mail work >takes them two weeks to setup internal mail network
Or just how boomers/the state operate. One guy loses his thumb on a saw at work and suddenly the entire workplace has to tighten up safety bullshit and slap signs up everywhere and even have some guy come in to tell everyone how to do extremely basic things so ~~*health and safety*~~ can't shut the place down
The reason its like that is because if it happens once and nothing changes then the second time it happens its a lawsuit that is an instant win and the government HAS to pay out billions in "moral" damages.
This is entierly the fault of the person expecting them to not tear open a package to see if theres anything illegal in it. This shouldnt have been suprising. The parties involved are just moronic.
is that what happened? seems likely. insure the package for the amount its purchased for, and they see some shit only a moron would pay that price for and expect drugs in it instead
the idea of some dumbass seeing the 10,000 price tag on the box assuming the game itself is worth that much and literally rips it out of the box, totally devaluing, is almost as funny as some moron 10,000 for it
>frick leftists >frick woke games >hang smokers >frick women who support the right to abortion
.. >NOOOOOOOOO WHY ARE YOU DENYING MY RIGHTS OF TRAVEL/EMPLOYMENT WITHOUT A VAXX OR TAX MY CRYPTO THIS IS ANODDA SHOA I'M THE ONLY ONE ALLOWED TO FORBID OTHERS
Collecting things is human nature, obsessing over ((grading)) is fricking moronic and you deserve to lose your money for paying thousands of dollars for a common media.
The Switch has been out seven years and there’s still no way to emulate Gen 1 of Pokemon. You either need to pirate or hunt down a 3DS. Even then, time is ticking before they take the e-shop off life support.
Couldn't he just demand to be compensated for the monetary value he paid for it? Surely it isn't legal for them to destroy shit without compensation, if the thing in-of-itself is not contraband?
>US Customs >Recourse
lmao
They're notorious thieves, I think the GAO even recently released a report on how terrible they are and how there's no recourse if they steal or lose a package
>have a friend in another country >tell him to sell me some shitty game for "10k" >ship it to me >oh look it got destroyed in customs and it was worth 10k >the government now has to pay me 10k
>guy tries to argue that the box was destroyed and the item lost all its value >customs retort "but the cartridge is intact, you can still play the game, what seems to be the problem?"
But that is not what he purchased, he purchased a Sealed Graded copy of Pokemon Yellow, by unsealing it and deteriorating it's grading it is no longer the product he paid for and is deserving of recompense
why on god's green earth would it be worth that much in the first place? can you explain why without it boiling down to "because it is"?

you can enjoy a painting without it degrading in value, you can drive a jaguar but you degrade it's value due to wear and tear of the physical parts, you can wear a Rolex but degrade it's value if you damage it in any way. this piece of media cannot be opened or consumed or it's magically worthless. can you please explain why?

A painting degrades in value if not preserved, Jaguars rust, Rolexs rust and the gears will gum. Theres no difference between a sealed copy of a game and a painting. If I told you inside the Mona Lisa there was a sweet copy of Kirby's Dream Land, would you tear it up to play it?

Yes, If I say, something is worth X amount of money, and people agree with me, then its worth that amount of money. I could dangle any object out of your reach past a red rope, and it all means the same thing. Every object in a museum, you cant touch it anyway, its just a thing to look at. The answer is the Mona Lisa is worth more than whatever gameboy game inside it, and the 10k outweighs the Pokemon Yellow
If some guy says sealed pokemon yellow in some box is worth 10k, and a guy bought it, then it was worth 10k. He isnt going to open it, he is going to put it somewhere on display. What arent you getting?

that will not hold up under any scrutiny, just so you know.
people tried to do similar things after SOX and got nailed for it by intentionally overvaluing assets, and reporting it to the gov. any high value, eclectic items will come under heavy scrutiny, and a few sales with an offer/FMV recommendation is probably going to be tossed and will just invite further investigation.

other anon didn't really do a good job of explaining it. Collectors items follow a lot of weird metrics. First off its supply and demand. Vintage items, especially ones in pristine condition, are in incredibly limited supply and they will never be remade. If there's any sort of demand for said products, the price will climb to however high people feel it's worth to them.
>but you're just saying "because it is"
Not really, any item is only "worth" what someone is willing to pay for it. You can argue all you want that labor and materials matter, but you have to remember that COST is very different than WORTH. You could make a car that COSTS 2 million to build, but if no one wants to buy it, its not WORTH anything. Art costs virtually nothing to produce, yet is worth millions. Gold, silver, gems, etc are all only WORTH something because people feel they are so.
This game is no exception. If the market for sealed/graded copies of pokemon has items going for 10k then its worth 10k. It might not be worth 10k TO YOU, but its worth 10k regardless.
To put that into perspective. An epi-pen costs about $300. To me right now its worth absolutely nothing because i do not need or desire it. To someone having an anaphylactic reaction is probably worth everything they own. If the market support's it, then thats how much its worth.

Anon, art is worth a lot because of Provenance. It has literally nothing to do with whatever you think it does.
Most art is expensive because of who made it, who it was made for, when it was made, where it was made, and who has owned it since then. It's still a scam, but they don't actually judge it as just an art piece.
That's also the reason why you can actually get legal appraisals of art works, manuscripts, etc. done by government entities but you can't get shit done for a consumer product no matter how rare it is.
The Nintendo Corporation in 1997 for the Gameboy in Kyoto and mass produced in a factory for consumer distribution will never actually gain any provenance. It's the same reason why a shitty apartment mass produced for affordable housing will never be historic.
Anonymous
that provenance only matters because some people think its valuable. For every superstar artist that has million dollar works, theres dozens of nameless painters forgotten to the ages. The point is no matter what metric you want to use, including provenance, the art is only worth that much because people are willing to pay for it and feel its worth that much to them.
Art is also a more complicated example because there are a lot of other weird tax implications and scams involved with it.
Consumer products are no different though. Why is that classic stingray worth 10x more than a modern honda civic? Technically it doesnt run better, it doesnt get better gas mileage, it doesn't get you from point A to point B faster, its just something that a lot of people like and put value on.

So you're REALLY just hopping mad that you can't afford the nice things anymore. So you want them destroyed so nobody else gets them either. Literal Black person mindset.
Those loose $5 Pokeymans that you insist are equal to that graded copy? They're still out there. You could buy them. But you don't because you too know that they're not the same. An unopened copy is better. An unopened copy is more expensive because it is better. And you know it, you're just jealous of it.

Some things however might not have inherent or obvious value to you, but that's a matter of opinion.
In this case some people see incredible value in having a near virgin copy of pokemans, and it got carelessly raped in the mail.

it's one big racket where the company that grades the games, the guy who sells the games, and the guy who buys them work together >company grades game >seller (who happens to own part of the grading company) puts it up onlinefor ridiculous price >buyer (who also happens to own part of the company) buys it at ridiculous price >makes the news >people with old games now believe they can sell old games at ridiculous prices if they just send them to get graded >grading is also like $100+ >ebay now full of $1000+ games because of morons who buy into it >you of course also have the rare moron who will actually pay those prices

>He thinks WATA games over estimating a price of something is its true value
Bud, he got scammed. You're a moron if you think this would hold up in court.
Customs can do whatever the frick they want dude. They're national security.
What he should have done is used a proper customs broker (which would be like 200 bucks for the shipment) to make sure that all of the paperwork was aligned and that the agents processing it (if flagged) knew that the packaging was part of the object's value.
In the absence of that, they government owes him shit. If he had insurance, as other anons suggested, the parcel service would pay him back, not the gov't, but even that would most likely not cover any damage/alterations done by customs.
So let me get this straight, if US customs completely destroys my priceless artifact, they can just go "lol" and leave it at that?

A mass produced video game is not priceless nor is it an artifact.

Didn't get it insured.
Didn't get it shipped properly.
Didn't get it marked with the correct classifications.
Isn't a priceless artifact.
Drug cartels and terrorists have a history of smuggling in bombs, chemical weapons, and drugs through the mail.

No. If they destroyed your package and didn't find anything in it, you can fill out a form and the US government will reimburse you for your loss as long as you can prove the price of the material.
The Pokemon Game was Graded/Sealed and would be matched on the market price for that. Which means the guy in OP after filling out a form would get 3K back (Since that is the price of a Graded Pokemon Yellow), not 10K. If he had a Complete Set of Pokemon Yellow (Non-Graded), he would be getting back like 250 Dollars in compensation.
The people can't fault Customs for searching for contraband BUT they can receive reimbursement for damages.

Yes, unopened and unused versions of everything are massively better in every way than opened ones. This applies to all things in the universe except maybe some types of underwear. They're rarer too; no one makes more Pokemon Yellow games for GBC so there's probably less than a hundred unopened boxes of it in the world. >unable to be played

you're both half right. these things can get a much more solid baseline for such high valuations but it usually only comes with decades upon decades of consistent pricing from actual sales.
this is why auditors or insurance companies will rip you a new one if you start huffing jankem and think you can commit valuation fraud for recently created art.
Not the first time this happens. Pic related happened in Germany.
I assume these "collector's item packages" are used for all sorts of contraband so naturally they'll crack down on it. Hopefully it indirectly kills the scam too.

>get graded for throughput, not for how you handle shit >people that get graded the highest are people that just rip shit apart, take a peek, then toss it back in the box
Do they not run it under an X-ray first?
Never had a package ripped open in my country (besides the parcel cardboard box it is in), unless it has liquids, powder or food. Even then, they don't always open it. Since they can check where it came from for risk assessment, check inconsistencies from the X-ray, or a swipe test on the outside for residue first.
Didn't they also frick up on some resealed games? They have been busted as unreliable several times but people still waste money on them.
There was also that scandal where a group sent fully fake games while putting listings up on ebay as well to see if that was all they needed to do to trick them(it was). I'm convinced they have to be some sort of money laundering scam for someone and the suckers that pay for them is just a bonus.

Customs can get away with literally everything.
You can't claim damages from them or sue them no matter how much they frick up your packages.
>order 200 USD figure >stuck in customs for nearly 3 months >once i get it the package is completely fricked and the figure broken
"sorry bro - the seller should have clarified - nothing we can do"
Nothing. The person could've been hiding drugs inside the box. The TSA worker did what was right and checked. You shouldn't bring valuables like that through customs.
They take games off the market and onto someones shelf, away from people who genuinely want to actually play them. They also drive prices up to insane levels.
Some people prefer to play on the original hardware with original carts. Theres no good reason for collecting graded media except to attempt to make a profit and resell. These games are purchased with the intent to never be opened or played thus driving up the price for people looking to, again, play on original hardware.

Ok the customs guy probably stole it and came up with this BS excuse because that is no reason to destroy something some just paid a bunch of money for. A fake jersey isnt a threat to national security. I can buy a fake jersey from any player in the history of any sport off amazon right now
>We destroyed it because we thought it was fake.

Customs destroying 'fakes' is such bullshit. In order to 'protect the value' of big designer brands, they're just allowed to rip up something that doesn't meet whatever criteria whoever's on duty sets. >stitching on the jersey was of poor quality
I doubt customs hires people with a critical eye for this sort of stuff. What about second-hand goods? They're likely not in the best of condition. Sometimes the fake Chinese-shit you buy is better quality than the genuine. I hear that YOU can even get FINED for trying to import fake shit. They destroy your shit and then fine you because you bought pucci instead of Gucci.
Why would they destroy it just because they though it was fake? Even it was fake wouldn't they just keep it to use as evidence to use against the alleged counterfeiter, assuming this even falls in their jurisdiction? That's gotta be pure fricking spite.
speculators are refined, concentrated cancer no matter what form they take. every drop of suffering they experience is karma and should be celebrated as such.
what do u mean >there is no way to emulate gen 1 of pokemon
are u fricking moronic?
he meant legally play it. (via nintendo's own emulator).
>Why is this physical piece of media so expensive. So what if it's no longer produced physically anymore and limited numbers of it exist these days. It's contents are all online for downwload and can be played/read on a laptop instead of the original hardware or cover.
Why are they so many people in this thread like this guy who seem to think he bought the package because he was actually going to play the game?
The game was probably the least valuable part.
We don't hate collectors. Collecting is a work of passion and can be both impressive and laudable. It's gouging resellers/shills/speculators and other parasites on the hobby that need to be raped to death by a barbed-wire stick.
>We don't hate collectors. Collecting is a work of passion and can be both impressive and laudable.
No, homosexual. WHAT you are collecting is what determines if it is worthwhile or not. Rare books? Worth it. Bing bing wahoo? Not worth it.
And no, this is not subjective.
Lets say he fly to pick up this shitty yellow cartridges, does anyone think US custom in airport will not frick up it too??
This type of material is make it easy to hide drug
Packaging is meant to be opened, fulfilling an objects purpose is the opposite of destroying it, its honouring it. The same applies to the cartridge itself.
Stupid moron, opening the box. Nobody said anything about opening a cartridge but being a mentally ill collector you wouldn't know what a fricking cartridge even does because they all sit in cardboard boxes, useless and untouched.

The same principle of using an object is how you give it value. I know you're autistic so the meaning of everything is fricked up and upside down.

Unfortunately, you will never learn that being a fricking idiot and forcing other people to use mental energy to correct your idiocy is the actual butthole move.
Unironically the best way to get something *expensive* through customs unharmed is to claim it's worthless. You don't want those greasy fingered pigs getting their hands all over it.
>I'm more surprised they just didn't upright steal it and sell it to a pawn shop for $15.
oh my god, that would have been wicked epic bro! that guy was a real moron, huh. yippety yikes.
What’s the point of collecting random plastic shit that will you’ll never use in your life? Are you in fricking primary school? Nobody over the age of 18 should be “collecting” anything.
Everybody collects objects, and you are no different. There is a difference between hoarding and human nature.
I give away/sell all of the books that I finish reading, as they're simply not that important to me. I collect other things though, drawings, files, /etc/. Minimalism is less to do with physical removal of objects and more (I feel) to do with an aesthetic or state of understanding that surrounds your possessions and routine.
Somebody can have joy in simply playing the fricking game instead of selling for over 10k. And I’m getting joy from the damage to someone's narcissism.
>Somebody can have joy in simply playing the fricking game.
Then buy a used copy or download a ROM. These games are easily accessible for free ESL-kun. >We are getting joy from the damage to someone's narcissism.
Where's the narcissism in buying a collector's item? I’d love to know.

I'm assuming anyone who would spend $10,000 on an old "sealed" videogame cartridge, is doing so only to increase a likely already inflated sense of ego and importance. In a word, narcissism.

Ironically, the way you see yourself as being so knowledgeable that you can just make random assumptions about people you disagree could be seen as pretty narcissistic. You've also no proof of how much they paid, and their purchase has no effect on the prices of games that people will open and play.

I mean, all I'm saying is that I'm a bit fricking bewildered on why someone would pay 10K for a Gameboy game. Collector's item or not. It's either to play, in which case somebody has spent a frick ton for a game. Or it's to just sit about, never to be used. Which I also see as a waste of money.

>I mean, all I'm saying as I'm a bit fricking bewildered on why someone would pay 10K for a game.
As far as I'm aware, there's no proof they spent anywhere close to that amount, but it's up to them if they did. >It's either to play, in which case somebody has spent a frick ton for a game.
Nobody is opening and playing collector's items. You can buy them cheap if you want, or just download the ROM. >Or it's to just sit about, never to be used. Which I also see as a waste of money.
Which is your opinion. I wouldn't purchase it.... But who am I to judge someone that does? It's not hurting anyone. So why does anyone care? Let people enjoy the things they choose to spend their money on. Why are you so angry about this? Is it because you’re poorgay? Awww….don’t worry, you’ll get out of your third-world shithole someday.

…okay? Where exactly were you going with this insult?
>They're innocent in this
lol no. they willingly sought out an item that was gouged to frick and back, as such they actively participated in the investment scam and deserve no sympathy
I thought Ganker was a capitalist board, but now they're all arguing the value of something isn't equal to what people are willing to pay for it? Which is it you schizoid fricks
>that doesn't mean others wouldn't
yeah, but it takes decades of recorded transactions to record things like art or collectors items. people tried shit like that. paid friends to buy an item at an inflated price, pay people to inflate the market value of an item. if you claim it, and it's material, they will dig in and give you pennies on the dollar.
It's funny watching mentally ill people who make everyone's lives worse have their bubble popped. You can't buy anything older than a generation to play because of this swarm of fricking investment collectors.
I don't see how anyone could have a strong opinion about this vidya collector shit if they aren't some variety of collectorgay themselves. Nearly all of these old games with very few exceptions are dumped online and playable with near perfect emulators. Just because you collect physical media with the pretense of wanting to play it doesn't mean you have any right to media you've been priced out of and bought up by people who decide to use or not use in ways you don't approve of.
>Just because you collect physical media with the pretense of wanting to play it doesn't mean you have any right to media you've been priced out of and bought up by people who decide to use or not use in ways you don't approve of.
If you found out people were buying bottles of milk for 10k and never using them, leaving them to spoil instead, wouldn't that concern you a little? Groups having this kind of self destructive behavior is concerning, and the fact a bunch of israelites say "it's just the way of society" is even more concerning
It wouldn't concern me because it wouldn't and doesn't happen. People probably collect old glass bottle that are empty. People can't collect milk in the same sense because it isn't really a discreet object (you can't have a milk), isn't scarce, and it spoils. It's nearly the same thing with games. People collect old packages of games. People can't really collect games themselves because it's just data that can (and probably has) been copied.
The fact that some people like collecting things literally is just how society is. There is no reason to care if you aren't a collector yourself or are some brainwashed /misc/Black person who thinks it's "based" to be irrationally mad about shit that has no affect on you what so ever.
I care because I actually wanted to play some games that had emulation issues, or even just to experience a game as intended with hardware from its time but I couldn't because the market was polluted by speculators and collectors.
Now you have to buy everything during its initial run before these frickers drive up the prices, everyone would benefit if they all fricked off. Beyond speculation, collecting shit doesn't even make the collector happy it's a compulsive curse and then a material burdain.
>i actually wanted to play some games that had emulation issues
Sure you do, tourist-kun. Assumed you are being genuine, you'd want to put your faith (or God forbid actually contribute) in emulation development and not in the physical media that can rot away or be bought up with people with more money than you. >experience a game as intended
You are barely a step removed from collectorgay pathology.
Like I said, you are basically a variety of collectorgay that's mad he got priced out. I have no sympathy for you.
>Now you have to buy everything during its initial run before these frickers drive up the prices
That is a problem. I saw someone online asking why aren't the prices of cards they saw online higher becuase they could send them into get graded. They couldn't wrap their heads around people not grading cards and only saw them as investments. It was bizarre and sad.
Also I know some people who collect VHS tapes and watch them got really upset when places started grading VHSs. Now you are seeing articles online about how grading your old VHS could turn you a fortune. Now the people that buy VHSs have to fight to get them and pay much higher.
Because it's more likely to break and doesnt have a warranty, only an autist would argue a cardboard box has any impact on the functioning of a game cartridge.
>U.S. customs officials last week destroyed 11 rare flutes by a respected Canadian musician who was returning home via New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. But the agency isn’t apologizing for the incident — it says the flutes were an ecological threat.
Nobody cares about this material shit, the real heroes are the people who preserve games and music through emulation or storing and sharing the actual art. These objects in some idiots warehouse have no value.
>why do I hate people who are essentially scalpers who actively hate emulation that keeps my childhood alive and well because it affects their ability to resell games at extremely overpriced rates >why do I hate people who don't actually play the games they collect, they just make it sit on a fricking shelf like a conversation piece for people who won't ever see it >why do I hate people who would sooner burn their copy of a game in a fire than let someone preserve it and have it become accessible to everyone
Alot of people in the world are poor. Why do you demand sympathy as a rich guy, but then laugh at people who might not have enough food to eat in the day? Practice what you preach, you hypocrite.
because thats what people do here, I've seen it rise over the last few years, the world might be poor but Ganker is upper middle class and then some, sorry not sorry
Alot of people in the world are poor. Why do you demand sympathy as a rich guy, but then laugh at people who might not have enough food to eat in the day? Practice what you preach, you hypocrite.
As per usual, custom workers, more so than the delivery industry, like the service industry, are totally incompetent. Poorgays and zoomers here celebrating.
Then why do you care about collector prices or values? lmao
I believe the issue the collectorgay is not seeing is the artificiality of this market. A perfect example is Earthbound imo. It is a myth that the game did not sell well, it sold half a million copies. You can find countless listings of it, yet the majority are held by very few collectors who artifically inflate the price. There are a few games that have had actual scarcity due to lack of "legal" means to play a game, for which people want to do. Prime example is bayonetta, and when it ended up getting ported after like 7 years, the price of it dropped like a fricking rock.
A game like pokemon yellow has been re released countless times, yet we are STILL seeing a extremely fast and sharp incline in pricing for original boxes, which is a contrast. A proper authority on valuation would look at pokemon yellow and claim it is not of high valuation because of these re releases. The only thing worth of value in these is technically the box, manual and stickers, of which could be priced quite highly. The issue then becomes when looking at actual supply.
The same thing is happening to the diamond industry which is drastically declining, because of the creation of almost near identical lab made ones. Where certain companies horded diamonds to artifically increase the price.
But for some reason games are different, you can get the same experience and gameplay from an emulated or ported copy of the game, yet "people" are still buying these "originals". The question now boils down to, who is actually buying these games, are they from a point of sincerity or is it market manipulation?
I do not believe any of us would be genuinely angry at a collector if he just enjoyed having these games, even in sealed copies but without the aim of making money. The issue comes along when you have "serial collectors" or essentially people playing the collector game as if it is a stock market and hording these games to create artificial scarcity.
This only works because games are morons.
There is no issue except that you don't like it. What are you even writing?
I have and will again. I love IMOQ, and a lot of used copies are scratched.
Then don't get upset the value goes up when you do. Holy do you guys even know basic supply and demand
>Pokemon game >priceless artifact
Oh lord I want to say this is a shitpost but I also know there are countless morons who think like this
I really don't understand the end goal of collecting. I don't understand the middle journey either really, aside from the rare "Interesting stories about how you collected X" which could be substituted for literally any other interesting story about your life.
When someone shows me their collection, I don't understand how you expect any response aside from a polite "wow that sure is impressive you spent X amount of time or money assembling the full rainbow of frungles. so what do you do wit...nothing? Oh okay"
Having a collection of things by result of living your life and shit being bought or turning up as you go, or some fricking crazy hunter who has every kind of endagered species skinned in his house? Yeah okay I can get that. But why would you collect for a collection's sake? You know literally only you care right? The very best thing you can hope for is for your nieces and nephews selling your shit to other people for their collection, and more likely tossing it in the skip?
I just don't understand. It must be a magpie brain impulse or something.
You don't have a hobby that isn't normalgay-default. You could say something similar for literally anything as an outsider to a hobby looking in. "Wow, why do you care about having played so many video games? Nobody cares."
You do a thing in literally any other hobby. collecting is pointedly not doing anything with things that are worth more if you do nothing with them. Please increase your worth anon by stopping.
I feel like I'm the only one in this thread thats thinking "Frick Customs". Seriously, just about every gov angenct where you hand them your stuff cannot be fricking trusted. TSA fricking dropped and nearly shattered my phone right in front of me, thank frick I had a case on it. I was already pissed but I'd been fricking livid if it broke. I feel fore the collector in this story, I cannot relate to spending 10grand on a old videogame but it's fricking ridiculous how wasted our tax money is.
I used to fly over to the states when I was a teenager a lot for my job/fricking american girls.
A lone teenaged male travelling randomly over the country must have put up like 20 red flags because the TSA/Border control authority of the state in question would treat me like a goddamn fricking bomb ever time. My luggage would regularly get destroyed even after I stopped locking. I'd get put in the little room and grilled for an hour which would go something like: >Why are you travelling? >Yeah but why here? >How are you travelling (How exactly am I supposed to answer this except "the plane I just landed on butthole"?) >How much money do you have >Yeah but how will that money support you to be here? (???) >What happens if you run out of money? >Yeah but what if you can't get more money? >Can't you do what you need to do in your own country? >The nazi question even though I'd have been about -45 during 1942.
I am extremely white and English, so I think their suspicion was less "Is he going to admiral ackbar us?" than "This man is clearly running drugs everywhere"
These are the real reasons people with lots of money rent private jets. TSA is a fricking joke. They don't stop terrorists, they aren't even meant to do that. It's just to be all 1984 on our asses and monitor every single location we go to. I fricking hate the TSA, forgot to take my belt off one fricking time and I end up getting my dick felt up. Also I feel so stupid standing in that stupid scan thing with my arms up while I got hit with some sort of ball cancer x-ray.
I honestly don't mind the security, especially what was mere years after 2001 and paranoia was high. That's fine.
But what got me was how fricking inane the questions were, how disconnected the process was. I asked outright at one point if there was some linked database to see that they always fricking check me and nothing ever shows up and I'm always here legally and leave in time etc and they looked at me like I was an alien. I'm trying to fricking help you by stopping you wasting time on me guys for frick's sake.
Interesting I'd figured you would hate the security too like me. It's just so pointless and it pisses me off. Yeah sure make me dump my water out of my bottle, I totally could have started a fire with that. They threw away my sister inlaws perfume, like for fricks sake is she gonna choke the pilot out with a strong fragrance? It's just absurd, everything about it. Gotta kick take off your shoes, empty all your pockets, and hope to God the TSA agent doesn't randomly decide to confiscate or break your shit. All to just have to put it all back on one minute later. What just really grinds my gears is that TSA never passed any tests when agents tried to snuggle real terrorist stuff through. It's just all theatrical and whether you travel or not you pay for it with your taxes.
I see it like this: a planned attack on airlines is going to rely on finding any kind of weakness to exploit, thus having insane and frankly dumb draconian measures precludes any real opportunity (even if the opportunity is entirely imagined, at least until someone works it out) works even though as a result it causes a lot of false positives id es: dumb TSA shit.
I would counter and you probably would by saying that such overfocus probably meant so much time was consumed doing this shit they would miss actual dangers because they're fricking occupied asking me for the 20th time: Yeah but why are you travelling alone?.

Security creates such a crowd of people anymore that you'd probably kill more people blowing yourself up in line than you could taking down an entire airplane.

It's just terribly inefficient. They already monitor terrorist groups that would plan this stuff in the first place. Never forget that the Bush administration knew that 9/11 attacks were going to happen and could have stopped it but choose this instead. Which means the TSA was pointless in the first place, CIA, FBI, and the like know what real terrorists are going to do long before they ever get to an airport. Which just makes the TSA the most redundant organization.
I think what they should do for airport security is just have you step through a metal detector to see if your carrying any guns, have your bag scanned by an x-ray for real weapons, and just have cameras with facial recognition software everywhere to catch felons on the run. Taking off our shoes and having agents randomly throwing away anything that's a bottle with a liquid inside is so stupid.
HE DIDN'T SPEND TEN GRAND
frick, read the thread. He paid a nominal fee to a "video game appraisal" company -aka a scam artist- to seal his copy of pokemon yellow in a case and say it's worth ten grand now totally just trust me bro
>Collector's don't play with collectibles. They're essentially statues/paintings. >I'm gonna pay an absurd amount of money for a GAME I will never play.
These people are insane
If they're rich they're gonna spend on anything they find value in. One man's trash is another man's treasure as one might say. That or resell it for more money if they're coming from the opposite end of the table.
There's nothing wrong with collecting, I understand that it's nice to just have a physical even when emulation exists, but what is not defensible is paying thousands of dollars for a game that has over 10 million copies, not just because it's stupid, but also because it drives up the price for the rest of us
>why do you hate people that artificially drive up the cost of products by several thousands of times their original MSRB value?
A few years ago I just wanted to buy a GBC so I could play my copy of Link's Awakening on genuine hardware. A few years prior you could go to any pawn shop and pick one up for about 20 bucks, but then the retro boom happened and the price of poor quality GBCs jumped up to an average of about $70. Thankfully I've got a buddy that collects because he enjoys collecting games and wanted to sell them at affordable prices, so he mailed me one for 12 bucks.
Non-americans should be geoblocked from Ganker just like how non-japanese are geoblocked from jap imageboards. Make your own imageboards if you can't stand to be around americans.
I remember one time going through george HW bush airport and seeing a 350+lb TSA agent screaming at the lines like he was R lee ermey
Law enforcement sucks, federal law enforcement all should commit 1986 miami gunfight but TSA truly are the lowest of the low
Just two words: 'mass production'. These cartridges, boxes, manuals were mass produced in the millions. So just having 1 game sitting in a box that doesn't look used doesn't make it much more valuable than a 2nd hand copy. It's plain and simple a money laundering scam for moron onions brains.
i could see prototypes of popular games like if a cart of spaceworld gold silver existed being worth at ton but not a fricking mass produced game that literally everyone has played
I don't understand how a cartridge with a dead battery has value to start with. Sure it's old and rare but usually condition factors into these things and a cartridge that doesn't function is in pretty poor condition
>Hey there you law-abiding netizens, it's USCustomsGuy back with another unboxing video! This time around we have a CIB Sega Saturn along with an A++, 93 graded copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga. How Long To Beat says a full playthrough is around 15 hours, so if you watched my last video where I unboxed 7lbs of cocaine, I think I have everything I need in order to give these items a FULL inspection and have them back in the very capable hands of our US postal workers by tomorrow. This is fake btw. Real deal would have customs tape all over it.
And even if it was real, I don't care. Resellers are subhuman scum.
Notice how these moronic prices only exist in Burgerland because of a single israelite company that's currently being sued for market manipulation and pricefixing
Nobody spent $10,500 on this item. Nobody ever would. The guy spent $200 for a company of "experts" in video game appraisal - because that's a thing - to seal it in plastic and SAY it's worth $10,500. Go find an actual buyer and not a dumbass trying to break in to the speculation market, I dare you.

Is it okay when israelites do it with diamonds?
In any case, artificiality of the market doesn't deflect the fact that customs in many countries are Black person monkeys impossible to hold accountable for anything.
Oh I agree, customs are bunch of gays. Also the diamond hording at least has started to bite them in the ass. But the israelites storing diamonds away is lame as shit, and just another one of those monopoly things we have in America. I would prefer if distribution of physical copies of old games did not also become a monopoly, though it basically has.
Everything G-d's Chosen People do is good, because it's G-d's Chosen People doing it. Also, frick you for using antisemitic slurs, I hope your entire family dies.

Can you imagine the sheer power a customs worker has at his fingertips?
You can steal, sell, hold and even destroy anything. ANYTHING AT ALL. No matter how valuable it is to somebody.
And no one can touch you, you are immune to any and all responsibility.
How can I get a job there?

it's the money they were using to keep businesses from closing. he was one of the many people who lied about having a small business to apply for a covid relief loan, and then used the money to buy a pokemon card. he got 3 years in prison for fraud as well.
>what a scam, they can't just keep raising the price of these games just because they're rare! I personally think it should be lower >yippee gas is up again! And eggs are double what they used to be! I love the free market!
Yes, they're commodities aka food and energy resourced and not something deemed valuable based on perspective. I get it, you flunked out of high school because you were too busy playing videogames and smoking weed.
Do you even know why there's a price increase for eggs? That we had to cull a majority of our chickens in our country due to a disease and that it takes at least 5 months for hatchlings to fully mature?
Just cause some literal whos with 0 relevant degrees put a sticker on an plastic box for a bunch of random mass produced games and flood the market with them with insanely over inflated prices to drive up the cost, does not make the game worth 10 grand.
Frick game speculation market, but isn't this a violation of the 4th amendment?
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized."

This is how America operates. One guy gets around the system one time, then everybody else has to be inconvenienced for the rest of their life. This is their reaction to it every time. Why yes I work in state government
Or just how boomers/the state operate. One guy loses his thumb on a saw at work and suddenly the entire workplace has to tighten up safety bullshit and slap signs up everywhere and even have some guy come in to tell everyone how to do extremely basic things so ~~*health and safety*~~ can't shut the place down
I mean that's reasonable because power tools operators aren't always the brightest minds and become overconfident very quickly
The reason its like that is because if it happens once and nothing changes then the second time it happens its a lawsuit that is an instant win and the government HAS to pay out billions in "moral" damages.
You don't see what you prevent.
They have only be “neccessary” for the people in charge and never the regular person.
>ruined
Ah yes totally unplayable now.
>you don't get it it's collectable!!!
Video games are meant to be played. That's their entire purpose.
You homies want an opened copy with my 10 year old memories forever forged on the cartridge?
This is entierly the fault of the person expecting them to not tear open a package to see if theres anything illegal in it. This shouldnt have been suprising. The parties involved are just moronic.
to be fair labeling your package as a $10,500 dvd is full moron
is that what happened? seems likely. insure the package for the amount its purchased for, and they see some shit only a moron would pay that price for and expect drugs in it instead
so only politicians can legally import drugs?
they constitute the majority of those with both the money and influence to get away with it, yes
You legally have to label it with its actual price or you're committing smuggling.
Just put the MSRP of $29.99
the idea of some dumbass seeing the 10,000 price tag on the box assuming the game itself is worth that much and literally rips it out of the box, totally devaluing, is almost as funny as some moron 10,000 for it
manbabies and speculators deserve all that's bad to rain upon them.
>frick leftists
>frick woke games
>hang smokers
>frick women who support the right to abortion
..
>NOOOOOOOOO WHY ARE YOU DENYING MY RIGHTS OF TRAVEL/EMPLOYMENT WITHOUT A VAXX OR TAX MY CRYPTO THIS IS ANODDA SHOA I'M THE ONLY ONE ALLOWED TO FORBID OTHERS
what?
this guy took the vaxx and now his brain is so broken he thinks that was a good analogy. Sad!
>he lacks hatred
ngmi
Best post ITT.
Collecting things is human nature, obsessing over ((grading)) is fricking moronic and you deserve to lose your money for paying thousands of dollars for a common media.
>want to play old vidya in their orignal hardware
>need to deal with inflated prices because "muh collectors item"
This is why i emulate and never buy anything from morontendo, not even the consoles.
The Switch has been out seven years and there’s still no way to emulate Gen 1 of Pokemon. You either need to pirate or hunt down a 3DS. Even then, time is ticking before they take the e-shop off life support.
what do u mean
>there is no way to emulate gen 1 of pokemon
are u fricking moronic?
They didn't just open it, they actually went the extra mile and destroyed the packaging.
It's worth maybe $5 now.
Should have insured the delivery.
Couldn't he just demand to be compensated for the monetary value he paid for it? Surely it isn't legal for them to destroy shit without compensation, if the thing in-of-itself is not contraband?
There probably is recourse but you have to understand the alphabets do whatever they want. This is just another case of civil asset forfeiture.
>US Customs
>Recourse
lmao
They're notorious thieves, I think the GAO even recently released a report on how terrible they are and how there's no recourse if they steal or lose a package
>have a friend in another country
>tell him to sell me some shitty game for "10k"
>ship it to me
>oh look it got destroyed in customs and it was worth 10k
>the government now has to pay me 10k
kek, kmao even
Not remotely how this works. Customs will (successfully) argue that the item is intact, as the cartridge is unharmed.
>guy tries to argue that the box was destroyed and the item lost all its value
>customs retort "but the cartridge is intact, you can still play the game, what seems to be the problem?"
The same reason paintings, rolexes, Jaguar cars, all are, literally yes 'because it is'
you can enjoy a painting without it degrading in value, you can drive a jaguar but you degrade it's value due to wear and tear of the physical parts, you can wear a Rolex but degrade it's value if you damage it in any way. this piece of media cannot be opened or consumed or it's magically worthless. can you please explain why?
A painting degrades in value if not preserved, Jaguars rust, Rolexs rust and the gears will gum. Theres no difference between a sealed copy of a game and a painting. If I told you inside the Mona Lisa there was a sweet copy of Kirby's Dream Land, would you tear it up to play it?
>inside the Mona Lisa there was a sweet copy of Kirby's Dream Land, would you tear it up to play it?
just want to point out you're equating a plastic box protecting the actual media to the Mona Lisa (actual media)
>Yes, If I say, I'm a woman, and people agree with me, then I'm a woman.
I was curious as to why you sounded so asshurt earlier. Now I know.
Everyone knows you arent a real woman dude, dont even try.
>N-NO U!
Lmao. You're the one trying to pass delusions off as proof of value. Your nature is clear as day
The troony is floundering. Go pick up a football
>something is worth X amount of money, and people agree with me
that will not hold up under any scrutiny, just so you know.
people tried to do similar things after SOX and got nailed for it by intentionally overvaluing assets, and reporting it to the gov. any high value, eclectic items will come under heavy scrutiny, and a few sales with an offer/FMV recommendation is probably going to be tossed and will just invite further investigation.
>If I told you inside the Mona Lisa there was a sweet copy of Kirby's Dream Land, would you tear it up to play it?
yes. because kirby's dreamland is infinitely better than some gay painting.
on a serious note, thanks for the replies. i guess im just too poor to understand collector gays, and im not sure i ever will. thanks for the replies
Made me kek but you're a subhuman schizo if you think this way
A one of a kind painting is not like a factory produced box of which there were millions made
I'm not the one to judge that the sealed copy of the game is worth what they say its worth. But in the end, theyre both going to go on a wall, and not be touched.
>I'm not the one to judge that the sealed copy of the game is worth what they say its worth
Actually, you are. We both are. That's the thing about speculative markets, is WE decide the value. I say it's worth as much as any other copy of the game because the media is digital and inside a cartridge.
You have already taken your stance, saying that it is "literally like the Mona Lisa" so actually I just changed my mind and won't be discussing anything more with a moron
No, we arent the demographic. Buyers and Sellers are choosing the prices. Im not in the market for collecting early gameboy cartridges and neither are you.
>actually I just changed my mind and won't be discussing anything more with a moron
I accept your concession
Literally post your hook israelite nose pls
Sealed video game boxes art too.
It's 'worth' that much because it can be sold for that much (theoretically).
i.e. the exact same as shares and, to a certain degree, money itself
other anon didn't really do a good job of explaining it.
It's the same reason why a shitty apartment mass produced for affordable housing will never be historic.
that provenance only matters because some people think its valuable.
Technically it doesnt run better, it doesnt get better gas mileage, it doesn't get you from point A to point B faster, its just something that a lot of people like and put value on.
>collector gays are the biggest turbo Black folk on the planet
100% agree on that point. hate how they fricking destroy the pricing for a lot of things. Once any hobby starts having collector grade things it starts to become inaccessible.
>100% agree on that point. hate how they fricking destroy the pricing for a lot of things. Once any hobby starts having collector grade things it starts to become inaccessible.
Collectors aren't buying the copies of games you'd buy to play. Old games cost more because they are fragile and more people are interested in them.
Collectors aren't spending 10,000 dollars on something that would cost 1000 four years ago either. This is the same obvious market manipulation that comic books and coins went through.
>It's the same reason why a shitty apartment mass produced for affordable housing will never be historic.
There's a shitload of examples of exactly that though. Apartments intended as cheap prole storage boxes declared as "historically and culturally important" 50 years later and protected.
good explanation, i understand now thanks to you and
.
that being said collector gays are the biggest turbo Black folk on the planet
Unused, untouched, sealed game is worth more for the exact same reason an untouched virgin girl is worth more than a busted up old prostitute.
it's one big racket where the company that grades the games, the guy who sells the games, and the guy who buys them work together
>company grades game
>seller (who happens to own part of the grading company) puts it up onlinefor ridiculous price
>buyer (who also happens to own part of the company) buys it at ridiculous price
>makes the news
>people with old games now believe they can sell old games at ridiculous prices if they just send them to get graded
>grading is also like $100+
>ebay now full of $1000+ games because of morons who buy into it
>you of course also have the rare moron who will actually pay those prices
Because it's a virgin.
You keep throwing around "graded and sealed" like they're meaningful terms outside of your clique.
USG doesn't automatically accept third party valuations, much less ones that aren't tied to anything meaningful like ISO.
There is existing precedent from other collectables such as Coins, Baseball Cards, even Rare editions of books
The concept of 'collectable' is within legal cannon and while the case would end up costing more than the value of the stupid 10k anyhow it's a winnable one
Customs doesn't engage with cardboard box fetishists, if someone wants to cry about how their plastic bag got creased that's their own mental illness.
So what's to stop people sending sealed graded games (actually drugs) using this logic?
>He thinks WATA games over estimating a price of something is its true value
Bud, he got scammed. You're a moron if you think this would hold up in court.
If he had it insured, maybe.
Why would he need insurance to demand compensation from the government from destroying his property?
He's not getting a dime from the government.
Why?
Sovereign immunity.
So let me get this straight, if US customs completely destroys my priceless artifact, they can just go "lol" and leave it at that?
I think I now understand another reason why politicians and bureaucrats are hated.
Maybe you shouldn't be shipping a priceless artifact through the USPS.
Maybe politicians should be more wary when opening their mail.
Yep. If your artifact is truly priceless, you should probably use a real importer, not fedex.
Define "real importer".
A licensed customs broker. Not a parcel service themselves.
>priceless artifact
dude it's fricking pokemon, not the sword of Charlemagne
besides if he wasn't a moron he'd have like
said
I'm not referring to the Pokemon cartridge, I was referring to a hypothetical priceless artifact that I own.
Why would you send a priceless artifact through parcel?
>The Pokemon Game was Graded/Sealed and would be matched on the market price for that. Which means the guy in OP after filling out a form would get 3K back (Since that is the price of a Graded Pokemon Yellow), not 10K. If customs chooses to accept that designation, which they may not.
I recently had to do this and they will not compensate him they literally ripped open one of my packages and stole everything inside and I spent 6+ months back and forth and never got anything in return.
basically never ship anything you arent prepared to lose . this is why people fly and travel with items to deliver them. its what rich people do.
A mass produced video game is not priceless nor is it an artifact.
Wow it's almost as though the entire concept of government is just a big scam to have rich paedophiles enslave the entire population.
Didn't get it appraised.
Didn't get it insured.
Didn't get it shipped properly.
Didn't get it marked with the correct classifications.
Isn't a priceless artifact.
Drug cartels and terrorists have a history of smuggling in bombs, chemical weapons, and drugs through the mail.
He should've done his due diligence if it was actually something worth something and not a columbian narco smuggling in white powder using gameboy games like they did in the 90s.
using sealed graded games wouldn't even be the craziest way people have tried to smuggle drugs into the country. if your 10,000 dollar artifact is so precious, fill out the paperwork to make sure it gets imported properly and doesn't end in front of a random civil worker who doesn't have a clue what is is and why someone is going through so much effort to prevent anyone from seeing inside the box of one of those cheap pokey-man games you can pick up at a garage sale for 5 bucks
>he didn't fill out the paperwork for the subjectively expensive thing
>he thought merely bringing it through the airport was good enough
You deserve what comes to you.
>Pokemon game
>priceless artifact
Oh lord I want to say this is a shitpost but I also know there are countless morons who think like this
Customs can do whatever the frick they want dude.
Yeah man. The kik- I mean the government can't wait to pay the buyer his 10k back bro. All he needs to do is ask for it and they have a cheque ready.
Btw, don't forget to pay your taxes.
The TSA steal shit all the time. They don't give a frick.
Us customs and TSA don’t give a frick. I know a guy that bought legitimate and expensive watches, customs seized them, claimed they were fakes with zero evidence, and destroyed them without compensating him.
>Surely it isn't legal for them to destroy shit without compensation
It's not just legal for them to destroy it, they can keep your shit without explanation.
"Civil forfeiture" is responsible for more loss of property than actual theft.
Mutts live in a police state and think they're free because their masters allow them to own semi-automatic guns.
Supreme Court has ruled that citizens cannot sue the federal government unless it concerns racism
>It's worth maybe $5 now.
can't fight ACV
i don't see the problem here. the person didn't receive the package as advertised so they're eligible for a refund. any disputes should be between the seller and customs.
Import and customs action is always the client's responsibility, not the vendor's.
Watagames is literally a scam kek
They did them a favor
>WATA
He would need it re-graded anyway
>game is worth less now than when it came out if you actually want to play it.
>noooooooooooo this is actually worth $10k when it's not opened and unable to be played because i said so!
grading/collector Black folk deserve the rope
Yes, unopened and unused versions of everything are massively better in every way than opened ones. This applies to all things in the universe except maybe some types of underwear. They're rarer too; no one makes more Pokemon Yellow games for GBC so there's probably less than a hundred unopened boxes of it in the world.
>unable to be played
You can play it just fine, assuming you're okay with its value crashing.
ok but can you explain WHY they are worth more without just repeating over and over that they just are and everyone knows it? i don't know that and i think anyone who thinks as such is a fricking moronic turbo Black person.
how is it massively better? can you elaborate?
>Why there are worth more
Unused items means they haven't been used or damaged and the game is no longer in physical reproduction (EVER) and its tied to a popular billion dollar brand.
This is like asking why old model cars that are in top condition are worth more than new cars being put on the market.
>old model cars that are in top condition
are not factory minted and rotected in plastic boxes, never meant to be driven lest their value crash instantly to zero.
ok but you can't emulate an old model car. how is this the same? it seems like you're comparing apples and oranges. im not trying to be an butthole or anything i genuinely don't understand how a single person could think this is worth 10 grand.
Go ahead and emulate a physical copy of Pokemon Yellow down to the last manufacturing and production detail, Anon. Bits and all from that era.
No$GBA did that right down to the frame slowdowns 15+years ago.
can you tell me what is different in the 10k version and the emulated version? does anyone actually know? or are you just making shit up to "prove a point"?
>can you tell me what is different in the 10k version and the emulated version?
simple, you cant run the 10k version in your pc emulator
>Go ahead and emulate a physical copy of Pokemon Yellow I did it 15 years ago in highschool, I can do it again.
>i genuinely don't understand how a single person could think this is worth 10 grand.
The answer he won't give you is that he owns a bunch of retro shit he'd like to resell.
It's a collectible from a popular franchise. It's 20 years old, and still sealed from the factory. You aren't emulating the collectible.
>it's worth a lot of money because i said so.
this is your brain on collectibles.
No, it's worth a lot because it is old, popular, sealed, and in good condition. Or it was.
>ok but you can't emulate an old model car
why not? pretty sure you can
Because modern civilization believes in this myth called money. And because of that we can ascribe monetary value to anything. From pretty obvious needs like food, to straight up abstract concepts like provenance.
Some things however might not have inherent or obvious value to you, but that's a matter of opinion.
In this case some people see incredible value in having a near virgin copy of pokemans, and it got carelessly raped in the mail.
ok i am 100% sure now that i will never understand collector Black folk. I understand your post, thanks for the explanation but i just simply have a different opinion than anyone who thinks this was ever worth more than 5 dollars.
That's fine, in your world you get to decide what value you place on things. However, say you rummaged through some old boxes today and found a mint condition Pokemon Yellow, and I came by and saw. I'm willing to give you 50 bucks for it, but you know it might fetch $10000 on eBay, and ultimately you value it at nothing. What would you do?
no offense, how does this help explain anything? it's simply a difference in opinion. i would obviously sell it on ebay in your hypothetical. but that doesn't mean i would somehow magically think that whoever was buying it wasn't one of the biggest morons on the planet.
Well, then you don't seem to need any explanation. For you know that it has value, and not just any value, but a special value because of its scarcity.
no i did need an explanation, and the post you replied to was me accepting that i will never see eye to eye with a collector gay. im not sure why you replied to it the way you did. thanks for reading my blog.
you're both half right. these things can get a much more solid baseline for such high valuations but it usually only comes with decades upon decades of consistent pricing from actual sales.
this is why auditors or insurance companies will rip you a new one if you start huffing jankem and think you can commit valuation fraud for recently created art.
Hope he filmed opening it, government can just say he opened it himself that eay
>watagames
deserved, literally a israelite cartel
wait, where's the cartridge?
surly he didn't get that graded only for an empty box unless customs stole it
Don't US Customs put tape over things they've opened though?
Actually fricking based. Collectors are gays, hoarding shit and overpricing it.
>wata
It was probably worth $5 before
I work for USPS and did that, ask me anything.
how did you get so based? were you born that way, or did you train under someone?
>US Customs ruining the israelite's latest money laundering scheme
>It's worth maybe $5 now.
Bullshit. A bare Pokémon Yellow cart is going to be at least $20 at any used video game store these days.
So sue US Customs or the guy who did it?
He should be thanking them for lifting the curse of collection.
Not the first time this happens. Pic related happened in Germany.
Frick people who buy video games to never play them btw.
would love to sell a graded game but also smear cocaine on the outside so customs is forced to open it and frick the buyer over
gamer gore.
I assume these "collector's item packages" are used for all sorts of contraband so naturally they'll crack down on it. Hopefully it indirectly kills the scam too.
inb4 customs agents also watch Karl Jobst videos
A bitter Snoyboy working at customs probably did this
Sue the US government for damages!
>stephen kick was somehow involved with this
get back to working on your dogshit system shock remake, stephen, no one cares about your rich ass butt buddy losing a sliver of his daddy's trust fund money to the incompetent frickheads that run every us government agency ever
What gets me is how brutal they are with things. Its like they are full of rage and just WANT to break things. what is so hard about opening a CD case? I cannot understand wanting to destroy something that's not mine. Do these people step on flowers because they're pretty?
>get graded for throughput, not for how you handle shit
>people that get graded the highest are people that just rip shit apart, take a peek, then toss it back in the box
nah it still goes for $30~$60 cart only. That's not ten grand but it's not $5 either
It was never worth more than $5 except back in the 90's
a guy that can afford to pay that kinda money for a game he is just going to have sit on a shelf, sealed, can afford to lose that kinda money
no pity
>WATA
It wasn't worth anything in the first place.
Those guys gave fake and damaged Tomb Raider copies the highest grade.
Didn't they also frick up on some resealed games? They have been busted as unreliable several times but people still waste money on them.
There was also that scandal where a group sent fully fake games while putting listings up on ebay as well to see if that was all they needed to do to trick them(it was). I'm convinced they have to be some sort of money laundering scam for someone and the suckers that pay for them is just a bonus.
i don't get it, do they have to pay for it now?
government can claim they thought it was maybe kind of sort of contraband and theres exactly frickall anyone can actually do about it, all these morons in thread who legitimately think the government has ever once in it's entire existence ever actually paid for it's frick ups is a straight up boot licking giga moron.
no, customs isn't liable for damages during contraband checks in any country.
Customs can get away with literally everything.
You can't claim damages from them or sue them no matter how much they frick up your packages.
>order 200 USD figure
>stuck in customs for nearly 3 months
>once i get it the package is completely fricked and the figure broken
"sorry bro - the seller should have clarified - nothing we can do"
At least now we know the game was real. Imagine having this shit sealed never to be opened while you can't tell if untouched game is in it.
There aint NO WAY they didnt do this on purpose, kek
As it should have always been worth.
Suck shit. Collectors get the rope along with journalists and localizers.
So what happens in situations like this? Does the government pay out? Does anything happen?
they can press for a civil case and get a proper replacement or the cash value of item.
Nothing. The person could've been hiding drugs inside the box. The TSA worker did what was right and checked. You shouldn't bring valuables like that through customs.
That people on Ganker of all places have such unbridled optimism and faith is hilarious.
you get arrested by probable cause then fined for wasting the government's time and resources.
They take games off the market and onto someones shelf, away from people who genuinely want to actually play them. They also drive prices up to insane levels.
If all you want to do is play the game, then ROMs are freely available in infinite quantity.
Some people prefer to play on the original hardware with original carts. Theres no good reason for collecting graded media except to attempt to make a profit and resell. These games are purchased with the intent to never be opened or played thus driving up the price for people looking to, again, play on original hardware.
Lol nobody actually does this
>There is such a high demand to play Pokemon Yellow on original hardware that people should open their sealed copies
Hilarious
>Some people
Don't care Black person, the roms are there for free. Buygays get the scalpers they deserve.
>people laughing and having fun
>hate
I'm pretty sure it's called joy
You’re all laughing at the suffering of another
I'm laughing at everyone's suffering, even my own!
So? Caring isn't going to fix it.
>got kidney stones at work
>painful knife-twisting pain in my sides for 8 hours all night
>laughing at my own suffering while doing jumping jacks
>weeks later coworker gets kidney stones
>start laughing at his suffering because i know what he's going through and i know he'll get through it just fine
>he calls me evil
why are you two such veganas?
My sister and her husband both got kidney stones at some point in their lives. She got hers around late high school/early college, he got his on their honeymoon.
she have kids? you should ask which was more painful. i like telling roasties that i've been through worse than child birth cause i hear from women who have had kids that the stones are worse.
>I get told I have kidney stones
>told that despite the incredible pain I felt, its going to get a lot worse
>Later, jerking off
>Finish, there is a kidney stone in the paper
>felt nothing
yeah man people don't know shit - it doesn't hurt once it's passed the ureter (tiny thin tube that connects the kidneys and bladder) so when you piss it out.. or jerk it off.. you feel nothing and it just shoots out. even with the giant spike one i had no idea it was even about to come out and it just shot straight out with no issue.
well pee is stored in the balls
as well as some snakes
Go back
Boohoo.
It's funny because the suffering is entirely self inflicted. When you choose to collect shit you have chosen a path of suffering.
I bet the customs worker was a minority.
>10k for a fricking GB cartridge
Journos being morons yet again as if another listing's asking price on eBay somehow establishes its value. We already know the Mario values, even when they did sell, were increasingly fraudulent.
It's a shame someone paid 10,000 dollars for a worthless mass produced piece of plastic in a box but hopefully this is a wakeup call. Actual valuable things are insured and go through proper handling, sorry some moronic neckbeard who got scammed had to find out the hard way, but, not really lol
A reminder Gankerros to change that battery in your cartridge
>family guy star
The NFT saga was great
"Grading" is homosexualy and I am glad it's value is now as it should be, around 5 bucks. Frick the buyer.
But on the flipside customs has no right to obliterate what you receive so frick them too.
Market correction
Ganker hates video games. If it were up to Ganker every copy of every game would be deleted or burned.
And rightfully so since they're all on websites for PCs to download and play them, as it should be.
It's nothing personal, just the simple fact that you're pondscum that claim a $30 game in a sealed plastic case is worth 10G but is utterly worthless outside the case.
Are you moronic for real, or just pretending to not understand why an unopened version of a game is massively more valuable than an opened (and in this case, destroyed) one?
lets say i am moronic, and am not pretending to not understand. can you explain why it would be worth that much? serious question.
gaemers cum and shid on game before cleaning it to sell
unopened packaging ensures game is pure just for you as creators intended.this rare after long time
unironically the best reasoning in the entire thread so far.
>and in this case, destroyed
destroyed, huh?
doesnt even imply the cartridge is no longer playable. You valued an acrylic case for 10K, and that's a simple fact.
Obviously you moron. Pokemon Yellow (Loose) is like 5 dollars on ebay. It follows from that that the unopened packaging is worth the other $9995. Nobody's confused about this except you.
I work at a prison tort claims are almost always granted because prisoners have no choice but to use our system. I know on the national level they can argue
>well you could have just picked it up directly by delivering to a location inside said country and traveling there
>sucks to be you :>)
get called poorgay for years when you disagree with something
some richgay had his toy broken
>YOU CAN'T LAUGH AT THIS, YOU'RE FILLED WITH HATE!!!!
karma is a b***h
Fake story, he destroyed it himself
I got no problem with actual collectors, it's all these investor fricks posing as collectors that I despised.
These people should be skinned alive.
They have the most moronic job in the world and they can't do it right.
Why would customs destroy a fake jersey?
>We destroyed it because we thought it was fake.
Ok the customs guy probably stole it and came up with this BS excuse because that is no reason to destroy something some just paid a bunch of money for. A fake jersey isnt a threat to national security. I can buy a fake jersey from any player in the history of any sport off amazon right now
Customs destroying 'fakes' is such bullshit.
That 100% got stolen, why the frick would customs care if a shirt was a fake, it's none of their business
not my problem
Ganker is just perpetually angry at everything. The only thing that sparks some level of joy are blatant fetish threads.
I collect vidya and I hate those shitstains too. I really wish I had the money I do now before "geek" culture took off.
I hate those gays, consoles used to drop 90% in value the moment the new gen is released. Now everything from the last 8 years still being scalped
speculators are refined, concentrated cancer no matter what form they take. every drop of suffering they experience is karma and should be celebrated as such.
he meant legally play it. (via nintendo's own emulator).
good.
They were worried pikachu might have diamonds hidden in his ass
>worth $10,000
It's worth $10 if you don't account for inside traders creating the illusion of value.
>Why is this physical piece of media so expensive. So what if it's no longer produced physically anymore and limited numbers of it exist these days. It's contents are all online for downwload and can be played/read on a laptop instead of the original hardware or cover.
Ganker might be filled with morons.
t. wata employee
Everyone can see the bubble. These moronic prices have nothing to do with scarcity.
I wish i could be a customs agent just do frick with people like this lol
>worth 10,500
says who? some scam site that "grades" games?
Good. I bet the battery on that thing died long ago too.
Why are they so many people in this thread like this guy who seem to think he bought the package because he was actually going to play the game?
The game was probably the least valuable part.
No one thinks he was going to play it, that's why he (and you) are being laughed at.
You have been weighed, you have been measured and you have been found wanting.
And no, this is not subjective.
>rare books
>worthwhile
PDF called, it wants its sides back.
>a PDF is exactly like a real bound book
Be kind, and scan all collectable books. Thank you
Lets say he fly to pick up this shitty yellow cartridges, does anyone think US custom in airport will not frick up it too??
This type of material is make it easy to hide drug
Paperwork with a live person and assuming Wata actually could be reached on the phone would prevent this from happening.
Collectorgays have caused old game prices to skyrocket over the last three years. I hope this happens more often, frick every last one of them.
Collectors aren't buying the old games thar you can buy to play.
i dont have 10 grand to piss away on a game im not going to play.
>Why do you hate collectors so much? Why are you filled with so much hate?
Is there a commercial of this anywhere? The only thing I could find was the Australian dub.
I mean it's cool to collect but the cost of them is dumb since it's artificially hiked
Anything sold above cost of manufacture is artificially hiked moron
HOLY SHIT NO WAY!! :O
everyone ITT should see this!
>5,499.99 product

More that they love the government having the power to rape you whenever they want
Government bootlickers are everywhere these days
Yet you're bootlicking a literal corporate scam. Curious.
Destroying somebody's property is not okay regardless of the value of that property, and the fact that you defend it means you're a c**t and a b***h.
Packaging is meant to be opened, fulfilling an objects purpose is the opposite of destroying it, its honouring it. The same applies to the cartridge itself.
>opening the cartridge
Stupid moron, opening the box. Nobody said anything about opening a cartridge but being a mentally ill collector you wouldn't know what a fricking cartridge even does because they all sit in cardboard boxes, useless and untouched.
>The same applies to the cartridge itself.
The same principle of using an object is how you give it value. I know you're autistic so the meaning of everything is fricked up and upside down.
lol why do you project weird caricatures onto people? does it make you feel better about being a raging butthole?
Unfortunately, you will never learn that being a fricking idiot and forcing other people to use mental energy to correct your idiocy is the actual butthole move.
takes one to know one 🙂
Weird leap to make considering your precious government is literally owned by corporations
Redditards who treat videogames as funko pops deserve the rope. I wanted to build a library but thanks to these homosexuals, it's unattainable.
So you're literally just mad that you can't afford it and he could.
anti onions did that, the dark side
Unironically the best way to get something *expensive* through customs unharmed is to claim it's worthless. You don't want those greasy fingered pigs getting their hands all over it.
You got a lot of decent replies already so I just came to say kys
We don't but laughing at morons is fun.
>Spending over $10k on an item.
>Not picking up yourself.
>Letting fricking US customs handel it.
I'm more surprised they just didn't upright steal it and sell it to a pawn shop for $15.
>I'm more surprised they just didn't upright steal it and sell it to a pawn shop for $15.
oh my god, that would have been wicked epic bro! that guy was a real moron, huh. yippety yikes.
I don't, I can emulate. The ones who seethe at collectors are collectors themselves that are priced out.
it's 2023 and people still buy into this shit despite it being exposed multiple times as a (not very elaborate) scam?
Government arbitrarily seizing and destroying private property? Holy based! I'm so pumped up that I'm gonna go get another booster.
That card is overpriced bullshit anyway. Collectors have ruined collecting. Hell I don’t even collect but the absurdity drives me mad.
You're getting joy from someone’s suffering. They're innocent in this, stop being a jealous and petty man.
In a word, narcissism.
>anyone who would spend $10,000 on an old "sealed" videogame cartridge, is doing so only to increase a likely already inflated sense of ego and importance.
Awww….don’t worry, you’ll get out of your third-world shithole someday.
>no, you see, i must be mad that someone thought it worth to pay a lot for a specific physical copy of this game that they won't play
>do you want this specific copy?
>no...
>HAHAHA YOU’LL NEVER BUY A SHITTY 10K GAMEBOY GAME
…okay? Where exactly were you going with this insult?
>You're getting joy from someone’s suffering.
Do people to this day not understand what Schadenfreude is?
>They're innocent in this
lol no. they willingly sought out an item that was gouged to frick and back, as such they actively participated in the investment scam and deserve no sympathy
>collect instruments
>play them
>collect video games
>never play them
>moron analogy
People buy instruments as decorations and as collectibles. Really homie
I thought Ganker was a capitalist board, but now they're all arguing the value of something isn't equal to what people are willing to pay for it? Which is it you schizoid fricks
Who is paying these prices?
don't know, don't care
not the argument I'm making, moron, I would never buy this shit, that doesn't mean others wouldn't
>that doesn't mean others wouldn't
yeah, but it takes decades of recorded transactions to record things like art or collectors items. people tried shit like that. paid friends to buy an item at an inflated price, pay people to inflate the market value of an item. if you claim it, and it's material, they will dig in and give you pennies on the dollar.
I have some NFT's to sell you, anon.
Ganker is commie city
If it's sealed you can't play it, and a game you can't play is worthless.
The cartridge isn't the game itself. Unless it's some rare specific version of the game it has unlimited copies of itself online.
Good. Frick consoomers and shelf clutter gays
Why does it loses its value if they open the box?
why does a car lose value if its used
It hasn't been used though
Because it's more likely to break and doesnt have a warranty, only an autist would argue a cardboard box has any impact on the functioning of a game cartridge.
They're autistic morons and most of it is a racket. These games should just be put in some vidya related museum for those who care.

>U.S. customs officials last week destroyed 11 rare flutes by a respected Canadian musician who was returning home via New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport. But the agency isn’t apologizing for the incident — it says the flutes were an ecological threat.
Nobody cares about this material shit, the real heroes are the people who preserve games and music through emulation or storing and sharing the actual art. These objects in some idiots warehouse have no value.
>why do I hate people who are essentially scalpers who actively hate emulation that keeps my childhood alive and well because it affects their ability to resell games at extremely overpriced rates
>why do I hate people who don't actually play the games they collect, they just make it sit on a fricking shelf like a conversation piece for people who won't ever see it
>why do I hate people who would sooner burn their copy of a game in a fire than let someone preserve it and have it become accessible to everyone
>im poor
>im poor
>im poor
sounds about right
Yep, sounds like a collectorgay response alright. Never ask again why you're hated.
can always just buy another one
because thats what people do here, I've seen it rise over the last few years, the world might be poor but Ganker is upper middle class and then some, sorry not sorry
Alot of people in the world are poor. Why do you demand sympathy as a rich guy, but then laugh at people who might not have enough food to eat in the day? Practice what you preach, you hypocrite.
Im emulating your favorite game right now gay, and theres nothing you can do to stop me.
As per usual, custom workers, more so than the delivery industry, like the service industry, are totally incompetent. Poorgays and zoomers here celebrating.
Then why do you care about collector prices or values? lmao
There is no issue except that you don't like it. What are you even writing?
Then don't get upset the value goes up when you do. Holy do you guys even know basic supply and demand
Because you don't like it?
>Because you don't like it?
No, I like Pokemon. I think you're a moron if you think its an artifact though.
Please increase your worth anon by stopping.
>worth almost $10,500
only if you're a moron
I feel like I'm the only one in this thread thats thinking "Frick Customs". Seriously, just about every gov angenct where you hand them your stuff cannot be fricking trusted. TSA fricking dropped and nearly shattered my phone right in front of me, thank frick I had a case on it. I was already pissed but I'd been fricking livid if it broke. I feel fore the collector in this story, I cannot relate to spending 10grand on a old videogame but it's fricking ridiculous how wasted our tax money is.
nobody posting here knows anything about working, having money, spending money, so they dont have empathy for the collector
Anyone with 10k to blow on useless shit has more money than me, so obviously I wouldn't have any empathy.
Or they are just bad with money. Which makes it even harder to sympathize.
I'm sure you have many lessons to teach about wasting money, don't pretend that has anything to do with earning it or being an adult.
Nobody is defending customers.
We just aren't defending the collector either and the schadenfreude is funnier.
I'd get put in the little room and grilled for an hour which would go something like:
>Why are you travelling?
>Yeah but why here?
>How are you travelling (How exactly am I supposed to answer this except "the plane I just landed on butthole"?)
>How much money do you have
>Yeah but how will that money support you to be here? (???)
>What happens if you run out of money?
>Yeah but what if you can't get more money?
>Can't you do what you need to do in your own country?
>The nazi question even though I'd have been about -45 during 1942.
Are you non White? The vast majority of times people get harassed by the TSA it's because they assume any brown person is a Muslim terrorist
I am extremely white and English, so I think their suspicion was less "Is he going to admiral ackbar us?" than "This man is clearly running drugs everywhere"
It's actually illegal to do that, which is why crippled grandmas get randomly harassed because we have to be fair with everyone and muh racism.
Frick the TSA.
/endrant
This
Both collectors and customs suck.
HE DIDN'T SPEND TEN GRAND
frick, read the thread. He paid a nominal fee to a "video game appraisal" company -aka a scam artist- to seal his copy of pokemon yellow in a case and say it's worth ten grand now totally just trust me bro
No, he bought it for over ten grand.
>people unironically siding with the glowies over this shit
beam me up scotty, time to die
Collectors are mentally ill, mentally ill people are more destructive than even the worst tsa drone.
Games still playable what's the problem.
Collector's don't play with collectibles. They're essentially statues/paintings.
It's for the weak of soul, they have no accomplishments other than owning things other people want, as such they lean into that.
NRFB
This. He got his game, I don't see the issue.
There's nothing wrong with collecting, I understand that it's nice to just have a physical even when emulation exists, but what is not defensible is paying thousands of dollars for a game that has over 10 million copies, not just because it's stupid, but also because it drives up the price for the rest of us
But how many copies of yellow were sealed and in such good condition? Ten million goes down to single digits really quick
>why do you hate people that artificially drive up the cost of products by several thousands of times their original MSRB value?
A few years ago I just wanted to buy a GBC so I could play my copy of Link's Awakening on genuine hardware. A few years prior you could go to any pawn shop and pick one up for about 20 bucks, but then the retro boom happened and the price of poor quality GBCs jumped up to an average of about $70. Thankfully I've got a buddy that collects because he enjoys collecting games and wanted to sell them at affordable prices, so he mailed me one for 12 bucks.
Good
>10k
What a joke, frick the "retro market" mafia.
Americans just fricking ruin everything, it's all so tiresome.
Non-americans should be geoblocked from Ganker just like how non-japanese are geoblocked from jap imageboards. Make your own imageboards if you can't stand to be around americans.
>he thinks this is an american imageboard
Let me guess, american?
I remember one time going through george HW bush airport and seeing a 350+lb TSA agent screaming at the lines like he was R lee ermey
Law enforcement sucks, federal law enforcement all should commit 1986 miami gunfight but TSA truly are the lowest of the low
Customs sucks. People should start mailing lethal substances in sealed packages. They will stop opening them if they keep dying.
Just two words: 'mass production'. These cartridges, boxes, manuals were mass produced in the millions. So just having 1 game sitting in a box that doesn't look used doesn't make it much more valuable than a 2nd hand copy. It's plain and simple a money laundering scam for moron onions brains.
That was done purposely by the agent.
I'd do it too knowing it was going to some cancerous gay and I could get away with it.
wheres his tesla?
I never understand why people can't shut their mouths in pics
you'll notice they usually have awful jaws
is that tony's kid from the sopranos?
If you genuinely cared about collecting x then you would be receiving x in person and not relying on the postal system.
the whole grading thing is moronic but you do know that you have to mail whatever item you have in to get graded and for it to get mailed back right
If you actually think ANY GameBoy game is worth $10,500 you have no sense of monetary value.
i could see prototypes of popular games like if a cart of spaceworld gold silver existed being worth at ton but not a fricking mass produced game that literally everyone has played
I don't understand how a cartridge with a dead battery has value to start with. Sure it's old and rare but usually condition factors into these things and a cartridge that doesn't function is in pretty poor condition
It doesn't have any value, it's a pyramid scheme.
Outside of jobstgays who are parrots, why is Wata Games so hated?
https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=why+is+wata+games+hated
literal scam artists with zero credentials that give different scores to the same products
it exists for the sole reason of driving up prices
Look i know you're moronic but let's make one thing clear:
Regular people don't drop thousands on an old game they could just emulate.
so where does it end, is anyone who buys a game that can be emulated/pirated a moron?
uhhhh you accidently formed a question out of a statement of absolute fact. wierd.
>Hey there you law-abiding netizens, it's USCustomsGuy back with another unboxing video! This time around we have a CIB Sega Saturn along with an A++, 93 graded copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga. I've never played this game, but I think once I've popped these hunks of plastic open, thoroughly inspected for any funny business, and given the K9 some time to sniff around, I'll take the 'evidence' home with me so I can see if the system and game copies are 'legitimate.' How Long To Beat says a full playthrough is around 15 hours, so if you watched my last video where I unboxed 7lbs of cocaine, I think I have everything I need in order to give these items a FULL inspection and have them back in the very capable hands of our US postal workers by tomorrow. Of course, if they are in fact contraband... you can see the results on my second channel, USCHydroPress. Remember to like and subscribe, and you can support me by remembering to file your taxes on time. Stay frosty!
>actually plays the game
that automatically makes him better than any scammer
It's hilarious to me that a free internet rom for a 30 year old game on a plastic cart is being sold for 10k because it's inside of a cardboard box.
>muh roms
Physical > digital
Stupid zoomer.
physical degrades anon, and while hard drives die and websites shut down you can easily just keep spreading a rom until the internet gets wiped out or a solar storm nukes all electronics but at that point you have more to worry about
anything but rotational velocidensity anon
>inside of a cardboard box.
That's inside a clear plastic box! That .30 cent box makes it worth that 10k!
I think the facts that it was sealed, in good shape, and graded.
>graded
Ah yes, silly me, those people that got a degree in grading children's shit for money laundering and suckers.
Why should it require a degree?
I see you missed anon's joke.
Joke?
>free internet rom
>being completely shameless in being a thieving Black person online
Keep seething you consoomer frick
>you saved this photo i posted, that means you stole it
Thats how you dumb Black folk sound like
Smells like bullshit. Unless it was a rogue Black person employee destroying shit why would you not just break the wata casing, take the cib game, claim it as lost and sell it? There's no sense in breaking expensive shit and just delivering it as usual. homosexual probably destoryed it himself.
>Unless it was a rogue Black person employee
It's the government, what do you expect?
I sometimes forget I'm not american
This is fake btw. Real deal would have customs tape all over it.
And even if it was real, I don't care. Resellers are subhuman scum.
Notice how these moronic prices only exist in Burgerland because of a single israelite company that's currently being sued for market manipulation and pricefixing
Buying games only to not play them is extremely stupid
Nobody spent $10,500 on this item. Nobody ever would. The guy spent $200 for a company of "experts" in video game appraisal - because that's a thing - to seal it in plastic and SAY it's worth $10,500. Go find an actual buyer and not a dumbass trying to break in to the speculation market, I dare you.
If he was rich enough to fricking buy a 10k game he was rich enough to go pick it up.
Even if there was fricking drugs in it how much could it possibly have in it? Plus don't the have fricking xray machines for this shit.
>If he was rich enough to fricking buy a 10k game
he didnt. he paid a company to say it was worth that.
>Why do you hate the people that artificially inflate the value of objects in your hobby, after they have ruined many other hobbies in the same way
I believe the issue the collectorgay is not seeing is the artificiality of this market.
Frick you, being a collector requires ME sacraficing my own hard earned money to risk in an investment that may not pay off.
If you werent poor, then maybe you could actually risk some capital and potentially make money instead of spending it on fricking partying and drugs.
>Is it okay when israelites do it with diamonds?
Everything G-d's Chosen People do is good, because it's G-d's Chosen People doing it. Also, frick you for using antisemitic slurs, I hope your entire family dies.
People don't buy rare sealed games to open and play.
I have and will again. I love IMOQ, and a lot of used copies are scratched.
>go buy game from ebgames on its launch day first thing in the morning
>they grab one of 20 from under the counter
>ask for a sealed copy instead
>they complain, but go get one
I guess I could compare it to a virgin, I want to break the seal myself.
>CEO's friend had speculative investment destroyed
kek, based US customs. investors buying wata games shit deserve it
>stephen kick
oh the guy from the system shock reboot that was supposed to release in 2017? lmao
>Why are you filled with so much hate?
Because this is le Redditchan, le interwebs haet machine, and it's le ebin to haet le everything.
Can he sue them for the damages?
Theoretically he could. However the odds are unlikely, even with the court of public opinion on his side.
It's fun to laugh at tendie pedos and their stupid money-wasting hobbies.
What the hell was the reasons here. I wasn't given any covid relief money because I had just started paying taxes, but weren't you allowed to just spend the covid money however you wanted?
>57k
it's the money they were using to keep businesses from closing. he was one of the many people who lied about having a small business to apply for a covid relief loan, and then used the money to buy a pokemon card. he got 3 years in prison for fraud as well.
Hope that autist is enjoying jail.
because this sort of shit is right up there with modern scalping as weapons-grade cancer
>what a scam, they can't just keep raising the price of these games just because they're rare! I personally think it should be lower
>yippee gas is up again! And eggs are double what they used to be! I love the free market!
>comparing commodities to subjective hypothetical value of collectables
Absolute moron
>there COMMODOTIES bro that means they're allowed to be arbitrarily priced! The israelites said so, learn supply and demand!
They raised prices due to greed. They could keep the price the same and eat the loss since they took the risk running the business.
You're simplifying it acting as if farmers and egg production in general is owned by one giant corporation.
Nah its a racket to fix price and profit
It wasn't worth that much. They were trying to inflate the supposed value. Frick em.
Legally the moment you send it through the mailing systems and customs it stops being yours.
>I should be able to send things through the US border with impunity
>them checking for illegal shit contained in these boxes is against the 4th amendment!!!
I swear gamers are the most illiterate class of human on the planet
>Allegedly original most likely sealed copy of Pokemon that was according to anonymous sources Yellow worth $10500 by a creative but trustworthy estimate has reportedly been ruined by someone who appears to be US customs, and that's a good thing.
Am I a Western Journalist yet?
>trusting government with your stuff
>trusting government with valuable stuff
>trusting the government in the first place
deserved, could have been a smuggler
whats real fricking weird is that it was a US product, so how it ended up in customs to begin with is a fricking mystery
YOU BLOODY b***h BASTARD DO NOT REDEEM THAT CASTLEVANIA GRADING
Because Pokemon fans are actually moronic and should always be dabbed on when applicable as a learning experience.
Especially whales like this.
Anyone with 10 grand to burn and deciding to spend it all on a video game they have no intention of ever playing deserves everything they get.
If i was rich i would buy these old sealed games just to open them and get that childhood joy again and record it just to frick with colectors.
so anyway I downloaded a pokemon yellow rom
You really think the guy paid 10 grand to play pokemon yellow?
Reminder - 100 miles from the US border you have no rights and the US customs and border agency reigns supreme.
They can come to your home after opening this shit and just shoot you. All legal.
