    > I had to restart after a quest-blocking bug 18 hours in, and had characters insist I help them with problems I already solved or offer their services after being recruited. One enemy ran back to the beginning of the map on the first turn and hid there, meaning after dealing with his friends I had to trek back in turn-based mode to finish the fight. Allies sometimes don't act on their turns, and distant enemies sometimes take a full minute to decide what they're doing. The camera doesn't always move where it's supposed to when dialogue pops up during battles, meaning I have to read it in the log after. The log reverts to Russian when describing Perils of the Warp, and explains why I have to reroll successes by saying "%Reason%". Two of my combat abilities stopped working for a while, and the tech-priest's utility mechadendrites, which are supposed to give him a +10 bonus to Demolition and Tech-Use, instead give him a +1,020 bonus. I could go on.
Classic Owlcat lmao, I'm waiting for the DE
But the rest of the review makes it look like there is a ton of combat and it's not particularly fun. Seems like they decided they should keep the Pathfinder combat design but force you to do it in TB. If they did that to the Pathfinder games I would probably kill myself before I would get to finish one of them.

Bugs on release are a 100% valid complaint and I will not believe that they suddenly got better with RT after they promised that "they've learned from Kingmaker" and I had to sit on a WOTR save for two weeks since some lategame shit was completely untested and broke my character.

Well I played it on release day according to Steam achievements, I really don't remember having any problems other than it took forever to load up, so much so that they added a warning in a later patch. For what it's worth I never got past act 3 until a year later

MortismalGaming says those bugs were the pre-release reviewer copy bugs and Owlcat was aware of them. They are supposed to be patched at launch.

they arent even bothering advertising the game anywhere even tho release is right around the corner
cause they KNOW that they need at least 1 year of patching to make it barely functional

all the while kvetching and whining endlessly about the community using mods to try and circumvent bugs and be able to complete the game
fricking nearly every post on the Wrath steam forums from the devs begins with some passive aggressive drivel about

Really? I've never visited the forums despite putting 450+ hours into WotR and I have to say, Toybox was nigh essential to unfrick the game. I really liked the game, but I would literally not be able to finish it without this mod. They should be grateful that the community provides such tools instead of being little b***hes about it.

No, it's just that in case the game breaks the devs won't look into it if you have mods, which is a completely inderstandable policy because else the devs would also have to check every fricking mod on the nexus

It's a fricking Owlcat RPG. Anyone who expected better is completely delusional. It'll be a good game 2 years from now. It'll still be buggy but at least the only remaining bugs will be minor stuff like certain abilities not working properly instead of main quests being broken and unfinishable. Same shit happened with their last two games, why would it be different now?
      >b-but the beta was relatively stable that means they learned from their mistakes!
So was the beta for WotR, but that didn't stop the game from being literally unfinishable on launch due to broken quests in chapter 4 and 5.

I mean, we all knew that from now on, every cRPG no matter the budget is going to be compared disfavourably to BG3. That's exactly why Sawyer was so salty, because not every indie company has access to Swen's Chinese money, so every indie cRPG is dead in the water.

Muh chinese money. You lost pajeet and owlkeks. Don't rope when swen gets goty

Swen holds 70% of Larian himself, it's not chinese money, it's money he made from hard work on Divinity Original Sin 1 and 2 plus funding from Wizards of the Coast which hold DnD license.

I was legit wondering where Swen got all that money to fund BG3 from. Larian went from a company that can barely scrape by 2 million on Kickstater to fund D:OS 2 to a 50+ million budget game in a 2 years or so. I don't think D:OS2 sold THIS well.

            Anonymous

Divinity OS2 sold extremely well, on Steam alone it has 150k reviews which is indicative of 5+ million owners.

              Anonymous

That's not nearly enough to fund a game with a Rockstar-tier budget.

                Anonymous

BG3 does not have anywhere near Rockstar budget, the marketing was just the panel from hell streams, no big tv ads like Rockstar does for example.

It's just that the bear fricking became a meme and went viral and that ended up making normie gamers realize that bg3 exist.

Divinity Original Sin sold 7.5 millions copies lifetime according to Swen, so it sold very well. They got a lot of cash from it.

Swen unironically PAID for the license to make BG3. Had Hasbro known what they had on their hands, they may have done differently, but they charged Swen.

    >Rogue Trader is a dense, vast game, and much of it has clearly been crafted with love for the expansive lore of the 40K canon. While there are small annoyances and clunky features along the way, the political intrigue, cast of characters, and moral choices have me hooked. For 40K fans, this is a rare treat — a game that digs past the heroic facade of bolters and battles and taps into the grimdark dystopia that makes this particular sci-fi setting so damn compelling.

      This is a good review.

      https://i.imgur.com/E01rYq3.png

      uhhhh....Roguebros???

      This is a bad review.

Calling it a pillar of their design is a bit too much. Marketing, maybe. They have other things going for them design-wise way more important than that: the sandbox-lite elements, the build fluidity, more or less equal encounter design among builds and routes.

Nah I had to research it for some God-forsaken reason, the original hoodie was a Svastone with "fern flower" for-legal-reasons-not-a-swastika on the breast but it had the brand logo on one arm not a read and white armband. If I recall correctly it was a Falangist logo on the band, which I think predates Francoism proper. But yeah, Pintor Austriaco knew exactly what he was doing.

There's a dedicated group of gays who think making new TORtanics is supposed to be 'board culture', so any time a new game comes out they do their best to shitpost about it. If a game succeeds and is good, it becomes a hill for them to stand on so they can shit on new games of that genre by comparison.

For me, the issue is that Larian can't really create good worlds or characters. Everything feels like a meme.
That's why D:OS2 was so offputting, because I couldn't believe for a second that Rivellon was a real, lived-in place. It all felt like some DM's first cRPG session where he's coming up with shit on the fly and he masks bad plot holes with silly jokes.

It's manageable in BG3. Not anywhere near the original 2 games, but fine.
Euros genuinely don't know English well. I played Cyberkek recently, and all the characters use this formalized version of English, along with bizarre grammar that makes sense only when written. No one talks like this, especially in the US.
This is why I prefer RPGs with no voiced lines. You can write heavily stylized charades like Styg does, or short, simple statements like Nintendo do, and it doesn't bother anyone because you can read it and make sense of it at your own pace.

Yeah no one cares about this shit and you know it but you feel like you have to own the current thing game so you're making up nonsense. Turn-based games started back when people thought that animating 2D sprites jumping up and waving their hand at the air was hot shit. And they were right - some of the longest running RPG series hail from this era. These games had other things instead, like story, writing, music, the gameplay system and all the hidden quirks and tricks.
You're talking about games like you don't even play them. I love a game that feels and looks good as much as the next anon but putting so much emphasis on it is bizarre - the true testament of whether a game, turn-based RPG in particular, is good or not, is how many replays it can make a player go through. And no one autistically looks at the same animation for a hundredth time.

    >Altogether, Warhammer 40K: Rogue Trader delivers a solid option for players who are looking to lose themselves in the darkness of the franchise’s universe. Morally dubious choices, engaging combat, and a deep narrative await those who are willing to put up with some technical bugs, and unclear elements throughout their time with the game.

Kingmker without the kingdom management and bugs should be barely passable as okay game, POE1 is better.

The storyteller relic you find in act 1, it was supposed to show you a little story about how the queen got it but it completely skips all the dialogue but you still act like you saw it all. I think it's because you used to be able to restore it in act 1 but they moved the materials around

        Anonymous

it gets more buggy because the core dev team of people who actually know how to program got immediately moved to develop RT after the game was released. the B team full of thainens (if you know what i mean) was left trying to inject new content into the likely spaghetti code made by the core devs, which they're too dumb to do. so they end up breaking things.

i feel like this is why so many DLCs were standalone instead of campaign additions, they literally couldn't figure out how to splice things in efficiently.

Well other than that banner bug I didn't notice any other issues with the Ulbrig DLC so they can do it if they want. But they seem to frick up stuff that was working in the first place and which you'd expect to have no reason to be changed by fixing something else

      >I think it's managed to get more buggy with each patch honestly
I don't think it's actually gotten more buggy because it was a LOT worse at launch, but it's true that almost every patch that fixes bugs also manages to introduce some new ones, or in some cases re-introduce old bugs that were previously fixed.

I don't want to go through the logs to see how often this happened exactly, but I do know that the amount of times specific bugs like the charge bug or the touch-heal bug were fixed in one patch and then broken again in the next patch borders on comedic.

Ill have to try it myself. I dont think reviews will do it much justice, though its unfortunate its still pretty buggy. WOTR was pretty bug free until the final act, at least for critical path stuff, and the critical path was 100% finishable within days of release. Was hoping this would have the same level of "buggy but not in a severe way".

I expect a shitton of bugs, it's Owlcat. Sound design is already confirmed to be amazing and the combat is perfectly fine. Going into this with the expectation that it'll be as polished as BG3 is folly but it seems people just can't appreciate games on their own merits without constantly comparing them to something else.

I don't know why anybody was expecting otherwise, the game has been looking extremely mediocre from everything we've seen and is being made by the developer or two also extremely mediocre games but it doesn't have the element that made those two worth playing (the build autism). It's also guaranteed to be pozzed as frick also considering the dev.
