    Actually pretty neat with the atmosphere and on the ship. I feel the boss of Wrath is kinda not as fun or chaotic as the other fights, but alas it's the classic big enemy, easy to Kill trope. Water stages aren't bad but you got to get used to the new mechanic and I'm not a fan of the rocket launcher. Feels less punchy than it should be. Lastly, love the inversion of the ship. Level design defacto good. Wonder what the last one will have but feels like a set up for gay ass gabriel, but i got work to do.

    Rocket Launcher feels weak as frick. I think it needs more explosion radius or a bigger hitbox. Loved it though.
    Gabriel is still a bit of a pushover, but fun nonetheless.

      Explosions from it dont deal damage, you need to hit someone first to make a damaging explosion. If you hit someone midair the explosion is stronger

        Interesting, I couldn't find the actual patch notes so thanks. I would understand the change a lot more if they weren't almost exclusively used over the Lesser Husks in this update, kinda annoying.

    Overall Act 2 was really solid, but I don't think it's better than act 1. Greed is definitely still the best layer of the act.
    Wrath is a good layer, especially level 3, but I think level 2 was a little lacking, and was surprisingly short, almost the length of a prelude act. Ferryman fight was cool though
    Leviathan is a way better boss than King Minos
    Rocket Launcher is a solid weapon. I think its a little early to call for buffs on it since its definitely got a skill curve to it compared to other weapons
    Wrath is a god tier layer on par with gluttony for sure
    The biggest issue with Act-2 imo is that while there are a lot of cool things that happen, it also retreads a lot on stuff that happened in act 1 (v2, and gabe fights, middle layer is a fight vs a giant enemy).
    The name of the act, imperfect hatred, makes sense since both v2 and Gabriel want revenge on v1 but are unable to achieve it hence imperfection.
    Whiplash healing was absolutely neutered, once I realized what was happened I stopped using the Whiplash altogether. Hope it gets at least slightly tweaked to not be so punishing.
    Overall happy with act-2 and am looking forward to the P-level.

      Yeah the fight wasn't too different from the first so it wasn't too difficult once you learn to always parry the explosive sword. Voice acting was top notch though. Kinda Sad you didn't get punished for juggling him after phase 1

        whiplash should just cost stamina or something, even if it cost all your stamina it would be worthwhile
        man I'm going to miss the whiplash if it stays this way, but the old alt revolver got nerfed to shit and never un-nerfed so I don't have too high hopes

    All Hakita has to do to fix the whiplash is either:
    -Make the enemy it attaches to have greatly reduced bleeding so you can't use it as a get out of jail free card
    -Make the hard dmg reduce for each style rank and not just S-Ultrakill
    I mean I get it, its pretty cheap to just whiplash to a malicious face and get all your HP back, but I basically stopped using the whiplash it was so punishing.

    For those wondering how to get rid of the water in 5-1:
    In the starting area there are 3 valves you'll need to shoot (picrel are the locations). After that proceed with the level as usual. It’s pretty fricking tedious honestly, but I’m yet to play the level normally without the water. From the looks of it, it probably won’t affect anything other than the first arena that much probably.

    tentacle rape way less cool than corpse king
    grapple is borderline unusable on controller so I don't care either way
    even gabriel(forma del sword art online) seemed way easier than the original fight
    wrath was still alright aesthetically and the ferryman was a cool setpiece fight, but other than that everything just seemed way less impressive than the last act
    Doesn't help that the prologue and act 1 were handing out cool new toys every 10 minutes and now the idea well's run dry

      you can also just shotgun parry the c**ts to death like this, there's a big delay when they teleport so sometimes they just fly about and are easy to hit, you can parry shotty them to death or hitscan revolver them or even just use the railgun screw so they can't tp, whiplash nerf to deal with them is hard but that doesn't mean you can't kill them.

            While situational, Knuckleblaster explosions deflect projectiles, meaning you can pull off Mindflayer Instakills with it (among other things).

            I use it for blasting away homing mindflayer projectiles in the occasion I don't get an instakill through overpumping. Trying to parry often gets you hit by one of them still.

            also even after the whiplash nerf, whip + shotgun + knuckle + slam is just a perfect malface instakill.

    Wait, this entire game is really predictable. No wonder why we didn't get a sword from Gabriel.

    Just finished it
    Greed - Wrath - Heresy are overall much better than Limbo - Lust - Glutonny, 4-2 / 4-3 / 5-1 / 5-3 / 6-1 are among the best levels in the entire game
    Bosses felt weirdly disappointing this time around however, it starts off great with the V2 rematch but Leviathan is a snooze and Gabriel rematch feels oddly underwhelming, I almost expected a phase 2
    Whiplash nerf is a bit excessive due to how slow hard damage disappears but I think overall was a good decision, makes movement and healing a much more involved process
    That one room in Wake of Poseidon with the virtue + mindflayer + incinerator guys can suck my dick
    Overall good fun
    Can't wait for P-2

      My biggest problem with act-2 was all the cool moments made me go "Hey its just like x from act 1". Heresy for example was an awesome level but Gluttony already did something similar and to greater effect imo. Ship of Fools is probably the best level in the game right now though.

                Thing is that no other character in Act II is set up in such a manner. Sisyphus is the only one that is mentioned off-handedly in a book with no other conclusion other than what is presumably his dead body in the buzzsaw room.
                Gabriel is mentioned in both Act I and Act II and is busy preparing for Act III after coup d'etating Heaven.
                The Ferrymen and the Innies are husks but they're also one of many other Ferrymen/Insurrectionists.
                The Leviathan is a soulless demon.
                Wouldn't be a stretch that for whatever reason Gabe decided to remove his soul from his body and imprison it in Heresy.

                final boss is probably Satan or whoever is turning husks into robots. Gabriel seems pretty stoked after killing the whole council, maybe he'll drop in and watch the fight before he dies. Also V2 is fricking dead. Not coming back. 7-1 boss is gonna be something else.

                Obviously 7-1 is going to be V3, a green palette swap of V2 with the yellow arm. Then the prime boss will be V4, the yellow palette swap of V4 who fights you with only one arm.

            Alright, time to drop my autistic headcanon then.
            Both Minos and Sisyphus were mythological kings of Greek cities (Minos of Crete and Sisyphus of Corinth). Inclusion of Sisyphus points to the fact that the prime bosses don't necessarily correlate to the mythological figures depicted as guardians in Dante's Inferno (otherwise it would be Plutus rather than Sisyphus, although this is one of the few times where Ultrakill accidentally follows Christian theology; why would a mythological pagan god be in a Christian interpretation of the underworld)
            If Hakita decides to follow both the kings of Greek cities theme and Dante's Inferno, then it would most likely be Theseus of Athens.
            If Hakita decides to ditch the kings of Greek cities theme for the climactic superboss of the final act, then there's all sorts of options.

    The build up, voice lines, and music for Gabriel rematch were all top notch, but the fight felt too easy.

Oh and it would've been really cool if he did the virtue's attack around the map during the second phase at least, making the player have to be aware of whats going on around them and not just focus on Gabriel.

      He needs some kind of knockback attack. I stayed on the ground the whole fight and did the whole parry/dodge/dump weapon dance from the first fight. I'd have liked it if he threw V1 across the room or something. Minos was good at that with his uppercut move.

      Railcoin setups melt bosses. I'd recommend learning how to coinadd, you can almost deplete half of gabriel's total hp if you can hit it properly and skip straight to phase 2

          The rocket launcher alt fire will be this way too. It's a permanent jetpack that invalidates all open level design and platforming. Maybe he has something in mind for the last act, but it seems like it would break anything that aren't interior levels. The alt fire is cool but it should be on an unlockable variant late in act iii. The default alt fire should be something else.

            To be fair, the Core Eject+Malicious Railcannon combo also trivializes most open spaces, the only difference is that now it's infinitely easier to pull off because the timefrozen rocket also synergizes with the Malicious Railcannon the same way as Core Eject does, but you don't have to deal with gravity, timing or positioning anymore.
            So it's actually worse than just being a jetpack.

            Dashing takes off a bar, dash-jumping takes off extra, sliding stops stamina regen entirely, ground slams do it too.

      I dunno, he sounds pretty reasonable here. As I said before in this thread, I'm sure the values will be tweaked. He nerfed whiplash before(made it have no aim assist at all), got feedback and tweaked it.

      And considering he doesn't have a team to chew and filter feedback to him, the fact that the game is insanely popular and as such he gets a shitload of complaints thrown at him, I feel his tone is justified. He does strike me as overly rude sometimes, but that's most likely because he just has to read through too much shit so he just kills some conversations early.

Idols won't be in a majority of combat encounters, and even then it only affects a single enemy per idol, allowing you to whiplash a different enemy. The whiplash nerf is honestly not that bad, just don't be 1 hp hooking onto enemies who are far away.

          I get that he wants these tools to freely flow into one another, but I don't think he realizes how fricking powerful the grapple hook is on a very, VERY foundational level if it's given that ability. Being able to always choose the grapple hook is why people were always choosing it in the first place.

          He CAN'T rebalance it in that way unless he goes back from the ground up. But making it so it's an option on PAR with everything else in moment to moment decision making is as good as it can fricking get.

          Alternatively, give the grapple hook it's own resource. Literally just give it charges if he wants it to be an ever present combo option that you ALSO can't use whenever you want.

        It's obvious he wants to people to use the other movement mechanics (and rightfully so), but he doesn't want to nerf the actual design of the grappling hook (the range, how often you can use it, ect.) because he likes it so much.

        So he's fricked until he's willing to swallow his pride and change something more directly related to the hook.

        Again, I think the dumbest part is that it just doesn't really make sense for the grappling hook to use HP. Blood is fuel, I guess it uses fuel now? It's just not something you intuit from the arm's form or function.

            There's nothing wrong with designing a game to facilitate certain playstyles and not others. Buffing everything is how we get moronic fricking shit like Guilty Gear Strive. Everyone hates nerfs, but everyone knows what it's like to figure out something cool in a game, and then realize it's totally blown out by something so much easier that you just feel like a fool for doing anything else. Intentionally gimping yourself isn't actually fun.

            So there's nothing wrong with nerfing grapple to make a more sophisticated blend of movement options and decision making, this was just kinda moronic.

            Especially since everyone playing the game are essentially play-testers, and going "this revision is permanent" in early access is kinda fricking dumb.

              The grappling hook has been out for months and months. So that's bullshit, it was fun and not for literally everything. I don't give a frick if someone people wanted to play it ultra safe in ultrakill by just hanging long range and grabbing health packs. Playing safer has always been option, but you go slower and that's your choice.

                COOL STUFF. It's a good feeling to bring new tools to an old problem.
                If you cared so much about level balance, you would just make a mode where the gear is locked to what you would normally have through progression instead and give it it's own achievements.

                I think lightening the penalty for using the grapple would be good (I mainly used it as a panic button while fighting larger enemies and needed to heal and couldn't quite jump high enough to get to them)
                But I do understand why he nerfed it. I hope he does something like "makes hard damage up to half of the players current HP". If not eh I can find a workaround.

                Well yeah, he's a hypocrite that specifically wants the grapple hook to be something it's not, but is also unwilling to change it any other way or it's betraying his vision of what the grapple hook is.

                Is this supposed to be some sort of gotcha? All I was saying was that there's nothing wrong with trying to put all your tools on an equal baseline if one is out performing the other. You can argue that the grapple hook isn't disincentivizing other tools, but that wasn't really a point I was trying to make.

                I mean that's one way to do it. Balance wise, if he was really smart, he'd just save the autistic tweaking for the higher difficulty mode that you'll replay once you have everything unlocked. There's no point in nerfing something if it's affecting old levels because you'd have to redesign the previous levels or enemy encounters from the ground up.

                The fact that this even feels like a nerf is a huge issue when his goal is to tweak it and make it feel more focused/creative like the other movement options. He seriously fricked up when everyone is saying it.

      He's got too much pride to just do a 180. I'd be happy with a different type of nerf (hard-damage on the stamina bar, making it use stamina, giving it a cooldown, etc.) Hard-damage is just too punishing. It needs to be nerfed enough to make sliding/jumping the primary way of movement, but still have utility in most situations.

      Aside from malicious faces, popping enemies into the air with a non-direct hit removes their explosion immunity. It's a great air-combo tool and movement tool, both in the same package.

    Turns out the whiplash is actually bugged right now so the nerfs are worse than they should be. Every time you use it, it overrides the timer for regenerating hard damage, making it accumulated hard damage more than it's supposed to.
    They'll probably fix this in the next patch

        but the fact that touching something with the whiplash instantly resets the hard damage timer may not be intentional. You can build up hard damage, wait 4.9 seconds, and if you tap the whiplash again it will just reset the timer instead of letting hard damage recover 0.1s after the whiplash ends.

        I hope the whiplash momentum nerf gets reverted too. It was nice to just briefly pull yourself towards an enemy, not necessarily reel yourself in completely.

    I liked the whiplash because the movement in this game can be quite floaty without it. It's pretty awkward to keep momentum going in combat.

    The nerf doesn't bother me too much though, I guess I'm not getting to waves 40+ on CG anymore, but after wave 35 or so it's just such a fricking mess that it's just exhausting anyway.

    I may be saying this, but I actually liked using the whiplash to kamikaze charge the face or cerberus with a railgun shot. But, this was before the nerf so it just feels like a novelty now than haha I can fly faster than sliding. Truthfully, I feel like the nerf did not balance anything as a whole. It just feels like we're being kneecapped for using something the latter half of act 1 to act 2 built in our heads on how to use it. I'm not calling the dev shit but it feels like he missed a better way of handling things than just saying lol hard damage for the grapple spam. I'd honestly prefer doom eternals dash charge system for the grapple akin to how we get three charges per dash why not do something similar there.

      I like hard damage as a mechanic, it adds actual consequence to getting hit in a game where healing is as simple as killing an enemy up close.
      That said, nothing the player does should ever inflict it.

        I just think it's ridiculous that Gabriel is the only level where the whiplash wouldn't be used, and every single one of his attacks has hard damage attached to it.
